New Muppet Ride?

I can't wait to see this. Jason Segal seemed to really want to bring the Muppets back to their glory days. I'm glad he seems to have turned the franchise into something entertaining again. Let us never mention the muppet wizard of oz ever again.

The movie was good..However the plot was very much like......

Most Muppet films are about the "gang getting back together" though. And since this time it actual is art mimicking reality, since the Muppets used to be huge and were making a comeback. I dont really think its stealing.

I downloaded this the other day (from a torrent site), http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0251874/ and just got a chance to watch it. This is a great film that lets you see the Muppets the way Jim wanted them to be. :( They had a lot more adult humor, but I understand that Disney had to tone it down a little for children, but .... I miss the old Muppets

Did you see the new film? The Muppets never had "adult" humor, if by that you mean "______, drugs, curses" ... but they always had humor that appealed to adults and families. The new film uses humor that appeals to adults and families also...

Oh, it's not just the Lion King. Where's Mary Poppins - you know, the Oscar-winning film that many consider to be Walt's masterpiece?

This continues to baffle me to this day. I also think Mary Poppins is one of the easiest films to come up with an attraction concept. I mean, the film is virtually swimming in them. At least put some damn chalk drawings on the ground somewhere! psh.

I don't know if the success of opening weekend had any implications on this, but DCL just announced that The Muppets will be a part of an "enchanted art" attraction on the Fantasy

Her carpet bag used to be in the UK...but has since gone missing!!!

I know it's blasphemy...

I know it's blasphemy...

but how about just a spinner, it wouldn't take up much room, and it would help balance a park that's still a little heavy on thrill rides (Star Tours/Rock N Roller Coaster/Tower of Terror) and less on kid friendly rides (Toy Story).

Plus it'd be awesome to ride in an Animal or Sweetums with the kids!

I agree! Tearing down the Great Movie Ride is the equivalent of losing Horizons at Epcot. Hollywood Studios has definite theme issues and is in an identity crisis. Losing the Great Movie Ride would totally destroy the last ride at the Studios that actually is intricately themed to the opening day MGM studios. I hope HS never loses TGMR. Especially since the backlot tour is the joke that it is now.

What he said! :sohappy:

Just saw The Muppets movie, and here are my thoughts...

First off, I LOVED the movie. LOVED it. I have never really seen the original Muppet show, but I do know the Muppets from The Muppet Christmas Carol and experiences at Disney World. While watching the movie I couldn't help but think how proud Jim Henson would be :')

So I really think that this movie should kick start a Muppet Revolution at DHS! Starting with MuppetVision3D. Don't get me wrong, I love this attraction. My family used to see it 2 or 3 times per trip because it was one of our favorites, but after about 6 years of doing this, we could recite the movie and it kinda got old. Now it's always on the backburners of our plan, like "oh we have 30 minutes to kill, lets go see Muppets" but if we don't see it we never mind. I love this movie and I think it's a classic, but wouldn't it be cool if Disney changed it so it was like Star Tours? Where the Muppets were going to put on a show for us, with different acts every time, but something goes wrong in usual Muppet fashion. The movie could be different every time you go so that it guests want to go back again and again.

I do think that the Muppets should be a bigger part of the park other than just the one attraction and a gift shop (as nice as that gift shop is).

What are your thoughts? Any ideas for an awesome Muppet attraction?
Thanks, and long live the Muppets! :sohappy:

I'd love for them to give the Muppets attraction a facelift. I loved the Muppet show when it was originally aired, and I was happy as a clam to go to the new Muppet movie. I think I loved it even more than my kids (ages 10 and 12). (At the end my daughter said, "Mommy, are you crying?" LOL)

In this weeks Entertainment Weekly, they have a a wonderful cover story on the new Muppet movie. The most interesting thing to me though is a comment that (Writer/Star) Jason Segal makes near the end of it, regarding Disney execs talking to him about a new ride....has anyone heard anything that would give this more weight?

It wouldn't surprise me that they talked to him about a new muppets ride. Disney is going to want to capitalize on every movie they make.

Just went and resaw the movie. One thing I did notice was at the very end of the musical finale that there is a hidden mickey similar to the soarin version. It happens just as it pans up to the sky.

Very much enjoyed the movie. I would love to see Pizza Planet get the axe or moved or something and a Muppet restaurant take it's place. And heck yeah...the Great Muppet Movie ride idea was brilliant...should have been done years ago!

I'd love to see The Great Muppet Ride plans dusted off. But I have a feeling by the time it was built the Muppets hype will have died off. Don't get me wrong, I love the Muppets but Disney would really have to keep pushing them to continue to make them relevant in terms of getting a major ride approved and built.

But you know what... Maybe Disney should start pursuing aggressive ideas like this. Seems there is so much yellow tape to go through getting a ride approved that by the time it's approved, it's too late. How long can Disney stay dormant, innovation-wise, while Uni pokes and prods them going "Hey, check out my new gadgets. Don't you wish you had stuff like this?" Disney is supposed to be the leaders here...
