Rumor New Monorails Coming Soon?

Would they really advertise new monorail trains though?
I don't think so. It's not like it is a brand new idea. If you bought a new couch to replace your old one would you promote it. I know not the same thing, but, it is only a handful of people that even know how long those particular trains have been operating. Do they promote when they buy a new bus or a new boat? The Monorails are a semi-attraction, but, now first and foremost they are part of transportation. The Gondola's have been promoted because it is a new thing, not a new Gondola for old Gondola replacement. The will quietly replace those that were burnt up by lightning, sunk to the bottom of a lagoon and had the interior melted in the Florida sun. You will not hear about that replacement at all.

That is the problem with discussion boards. They are only followed closely by those with a gigantic obsession with Disney. That is a lot of people, granted, but, when compared with the number of people that actually go to a Disney Park in a years time, maybe even a months time, it is minuscule.

It all depends on how you spin it...
If you replaced your college $5 couch with a new power recliner couch with cup holders?

For buses, they would promote new features / benefits... such as eco-friendly hybrid buses (cause that makes them look good with a specific segment of visitors and makes the stockholders happy because it reduces expenses).

If there are new features they can market on the new monorails (more efficient, better experience, handles more people, etc) then they would... Otherwise, I doubt we will see anything until they are brought on-line.. then I think there will be some blog posts and a ribbon cutting when the first new train is put on the beams.

That is true and I don't mean that it will not be mentioned, but, to say we finally replaced those old antiquated trains with something built in this millennium, I see that part as downplayed. They will, of course, mention it as our brand new fleet, but, the less made of how long it took to get there, the better. I don't think that all the trains will not be changed at once anyway**, it will stretch over a number of years due to expense and just not causing panic from those that are stuck riding the old ones.
That follows that there will be no changes to the stations until all have been replaced. If that happens at all. They might just decide the scrap the whole thing and go with Gondola's resort wide. Cost wise, they could save a bundle. Yes, the Monorails are iconic, but, give it one generation and that will not be a problem any longer. Look how quickly the BAH disappeared from consciousness.

There's a rumor floating around that in Bombardier's financial report that Disney has made a large purchase. I couldn't find it, but if someone else could, I'd love to see what they define as a large purchase.

Yeah considering they deal with municipalities ordering dozens of trains, I'm not sure Disney's dozen is much of a blip. Sounds like dustful thinking there.

My guess -- the Las Vegas project is a cover for the WDW purchase, and LV gets a couple of free trains out of it...

Are we just going full on crazy now? Not only would that violate Bombardier's financial reporting responsibilities, but Disney would have to report it on their quarterlies anyway. It makes literally zero sense that any of the three would hatch such a scheme.

Not to mention that TDO isn't going to just 'give' someone else trains worth tens to hundreds of millions of dollars just to keep things a secret. They're cutting CM hours to save a couple hundred dollars a day in certain positions, and you think they're going to just give Vegas multi-million dollar monorail trains so they can have a surprise? Walt announcing new trains personally is more likely.

3rd Quarter reports wouldn't be out until Early November, so unless someone was doing a little insider trading, i would have have some serious doubts about it.

Disney did a press event when they added benches to Fantasmic.

In all fairness...wasn't that at least 2 P&R (PE&CP now) leaders ago.

Disney obviously knows that their transportation has a big following, so I can see them marketing these when/if they come. However, I don't see Disney going to great lengths to hide their purchase or advertise any purchase beforehand. Like everything else we will learn about this when @danlb_2000 pulls the permits (for any potential station change) or an insider makes it WDWMagic official. The Parks Blog will announce it when the first train is finished and on its way.

They already built those a long time ago, that's not a current project. Now it's probably almost time for Vegas to start looking at getting new trains though, so who knows maybe if that happens Disney can just buy some second hand trains.
