For whatever it's worth, I believe Bob Gurr.

Things may have changed since he mentioned that new trains were in the works.

If anyone in the industry would know or have an inkling it would be him.

I hope Imagineering consults with him on this project, these new trains have to remain relevant decades from now.

I believe the current trains were very well designed. They have gone beyond their service and use by date as far as I'm concerned.

They are rattle boxes, no more carpeting, 1/2 the original seating, no front can riding, some lame colors have come on line and the a.c. is hot or miss which mostly blow muggy air.

I believe in Bob Gurr as well, but we also have to face reality too. Kids and adults are messy creatures so you need surfaces that can literally be hosed out when (not if) needed. Accidents will happen so that front passenger horse shoe bench will remain empty because of insurers and accountants. It's also a different year so they'll need to meet current Ada requirements. (edited because dyac made Bob into a fish)

There could be a tip-off or them (Bombardier) making a hint of this happening though.
I doubt it and if they did I am sure Disney wouldn't be very happy.
Just, no. Disney maintains strict control over how and when vendors can disclose their involvement with projects.
There is a good chance you’ll never here anything from Bombardier or anyone else involved. Disney doesn’t advertise vendors and often does not let them advertise publicly.

Having worked for a company that built a ride for Disney, I can tell you with absolute certainty that if a contract was being negotiated or has been signed, there is absolutely a gag order in place that was signed by every employee.

Even though I am no longer there, the confidentiality agreement still restricts what I can and can't say about the project.

EDIT:I also meant to say that the non-disclosure specifically prohibits you from ever saying the company built "xxx" ride or even acknowledging that company "xxxx" had a contract or specifically identify the ride you worked on even w/o identifying the company. While it was in production, you could not even say your company had a contract with a major entertainment company.

The Mark VIIs reuse the Mark V bodies which also lacked air conditioning. What the Mark Vs had was seating that placed people next to proper operable windows. The Mark VIIs were a cluster, a grand display of the arrogance and disconnect of Walt Disney Imagineering.
Hyperbole aside, I've ridden them many times and they are just fine.

The Mark VIIs were delayed and modified because they did not work as originally designed and built.
True, but that is the downside of re-engineering an old system. There were issues with platform clearance which were resolved, and the initial version (in which they tried to do away with the safety hazard of open windows) did not have sufficient ventilation. In time, all these issues were fixed.

Bear in mind that the Mark V was designed in a time when meticulous CAD drawings did not exist. The custom fit items were never fully documented. Times have changed.
