New modern day costumes coming to American Adventure?

Sure ok but what does that say about the future or better yet costumes in American Adventure?

The AA attraction is about the perseverance and fortitude of the people that founded and advanced this country.. through both highs and lows... to advance this nation to what it has become now - an economic and cultural superpower. It's not about the stereotypes or the events - but the common thread through the examples shown is the fortitude of those that persevered.

The message of the show is great people forged a great nation - through highs and lows. The theater is lined by iconic figures of our country - not murals of events. And it's that type of people - that will forge new futures and new heights for this nation.

So your whole little rant was just completely offbase. You may want to define a new type of attraction - but the AA is a moving piece of theater for those with the open mind to hear it's tale.

Nothing exudes american modernity like bright blue suits and tomato red dresses. Yet another example of TDO finding bad solutions for manufactured problems.

Oh wow, that was profound. I would like to borrow that from you (pretend I'm Jeff Lange and you are Disney IP or I am Lou Mongello and can run a business at the MK that competes with Disney's own and all will be fine) ... that line is pure MAGIC: TDO: We find bad solutions for manufactured problems! LOVE IT!

When did this become about the main attraction inside the the building? It is about about costumes cast members wear.

???? Rant ...... seem to remember I post twice I like the attraction, may want to read again.
??? Rant ..... the thread is about costumes please do not feel you need to defend the show to me.

1) Because my opinion should hardly matter to you or anybody else.
2) Because I do like the show

I did say the old uniforms were a modern reproduction of the rich of the 18th and 19th century.... hardly a rant.
I do not mind modern uniforms to me it is about the countries today.

I found your posts confusing and didn't understand your point other than the America pavilion should prove we aren't gang banging thugs. I also thought you were talking about the American Adventure attraction as did flynnibus. Which is why I was confused when you said...

Remember the original post is about costumes

We simply did not pick up on the thread of logic you had in mind.

ETA-

When I watch the American Adventure not sure I need a history lesson.

You don't watch a pavilion, you watch an attraction in a theater. This sentence surely led to the confusion.

Okay...

I just read this whole thread in under 15 minutes. My eyes are bleeding and my brain is hurting. Oddly enough it has nothing to do with the fonts this time.

You are the one that brought the show up and ranted about how the AA reenforces stereotypes to you. See post quoted below...

I like to know about countries, today.
in some ways modern costumes for this reason works for me.

When I watch the American Adventure not sure I need a history lesson.

What is the United States of America about today?
Give me details on what makes the USA unique and special.

How does one 'watch the American Adventure' and be talking about the costumes? How does a blue blazer 'give me details on what makes the USA unique and special'? How are you not talking about the attraction?

The current uniform enforces a stereotype.

As does Canadian Uniform, Canada is not about lumberjacks never was,
1) Native Americans
2) French fur traders
3) British

but today Canada has unique things.
Multiculturalism, freedom of violence "guns are illegal", hockey, Canadians are peace keepers....

Do Americans want history lesson I doubt it. The Canadian Pavilion fails the same way as the American Adventure.

What do Non-Americans know about Americans?

Standard American stereotypes,
They are violent, everybody owns a gun and they are not afraid to use them.
Big cities are ghettos, poor burnt out slums full of crime and drug use.
They like to interfere with other countries.

Focus on the truth of today tell us Non-Americans that visit today on what American is now. Remember people visit from all over the world. Tell them why the stereotypes are wrong, what makes America great.

Today's uniform may make sense.

A blue blazer combats the stereotypes you listed? Tell us what a blue blazer communicates to you.. since you are so interested in knowing why those stereotypes are wrong, and tell us what it tells you about 'what America is now'.

Besides, don't most--if not all--of the other pavilions feature CM costumes that are considered "old traditional" attire? Do most people in Germany still wear lederhosen? Do most modern Japanese wear kimono every day? I don't buy the effort of "modernizing" the pavilion's CM costumes when it really doesn't make any sense. You have a colonial period building in a colonial period setting. The only reason I can think of is some fruit in a Disney suit decided maybe tourists would find it confusing that there are also CMs in period clothing in Liberty Square.

Or they really did just want to save some bucks so that they could share with the CMs at Soar'n.

Changing something to modernize it is ok, but the change should improve the experience. This does not improve or enhance the attraction or the pavilion at all. IMHO it makes it look cheap.

I am offended by the Canadian costume, can not speak for Germans and Japanese.

It is a fact the Canadian Government was asked to sponsor Canada, The Canadian government was concerned about the stereotype of Canada that Disney wanted (i.e., lumberjacks). Funding was refused

There is nothing traditional about the Canadian Costume.

I can never see this coming to fruition because it is a completely awful idea. Sure, maybe change the costumes if they need update or cleaning, but KEEP THE COLONIAL. Modern day suits? SERIOUSLY??? The American Adventure pavilion is beautiful and all I want to do is spend more time in that amazing place. I was there two days ago and forgot just how amazing that place is..

More mis-application of facts. Canada's refusal back in the pitch days of EPCOT was not due to what the pavilion is now. What was done back then, has virtually nothing to do with what was built.

And you keep getting back to this Lumberjack thing. How does one get from flannel shirts (ok,
Buffalo check pattern) and shorts to equal lumberjacks? Or sometimes the cowboy hats seen. Never seen lumberjacks big on cattle wear myself.

There is nothing traditional about the Canadian Costume.

Has there been some big revolt against flannel? Do you find flannel offensive? What would you prefer the costume be in a pavilion dominated by the great outdoors aspect of Canada? Maybe some seafarers from Nova Scotia? Some colonial french leftovers? Or maybe some pacific indians?

Or maybe some modern flight attendant blazers so you can show the world how modern and homogenized urban Canada can be?
