Was there a post on the blog that credited Irvine for saving the stretching room? If there was, it does not appear to be on the blog anymore.
It was just a post on Micechat.

"Life is complicated. Here we are, throwing rocks at Kim, when all of a sudden a whistle blows and we must pause for a moment, long enough to grunt out a "thank you" to her (however grudgingly), before picking up the rocks and carrying on with the ritual stoning. According to my sources, it was none other than Kim Irving who put the kibosh on any talk of removing the hanging corpse, and yes, he has been reinstalled and will be ready for his own little swinging wake when the doors open tomorrow."

I'm somewhat indifferent to the new bride. I'm holding out on giving my full opinion until I see it in person. Cameras, no matter how good they are, never seem to truly capture what is seen with the naked eye. Bright things tend to wash out in dark places on camera.

I noticed that the snake in the attic for HMH is usually going over the archway and its head is on your right holding the list of names:

Something that I remember noticing on my trip in November is that this year it was on the left side:

I wonder if this was intentional to help cover up the work they were doing for the new bride, or if it was just a decision to do something different this year.

I believe in previous years, the Constance figure would be physically removed for the overlay (which was a big reason for its inconsistencies in projection alignment, lighting, and such).

This new figure, by the looks of it, has more permanent staging + placement, so it’s probably just easier that the HMH scene is rearranged to fit the new configuration.

Yep. From what I heard it was already installed during the big downtime, so what we saw with the overlay was just the new way they hide that scene.

Rode it this afternoon and I'm pleased. The bride looks great in person, she has this forlorn quality to her in the way she's staged by the window that I found to be a much better fit for the ride. Loved that they bumped up the volume of the beating heart.

The graveyard was a nice surprise. I think the new projections in the graveyard work for the most part; my one concern is there's a set of them that runs up the back wall and onto the ceiling, but I also didn't totally hate the movement so mileage may vary. The third candelabra moves way too much and exactly like the endless hallway in that crypt, wish they'd tone down the movement (although I really do love the implication that Constance follows us around).

I actually liked how the HHG looked in person, but I agree with the suggestion that they should try to fade the bottom of their projection to avoid the harsh cutoff.

I noticed that too. Maybe it's the lighting settings on the camera and it's not noticeable in person. I think they tried to fix the double image of the candelabra by putting a scrim on its back. Fixing one problem to cause another? It doesn't look like they are changing it to me. How would they go about adding her here? The Phantom Manor has an extra hallway that we don't to achieve the pepper's ghost with Melanie and the Phantom so it couldn't be similar to that.

Here's the double image I am talking about from a couple of years ago, just a quick screengrab, not the best:

Ahh, I believe this is exactly what happened from my ride through today. I was wondering why the candelabra looked off like it was through a window in person. It is somewhat noticeable in person, unfortunately, but I prefer it over the phantom second image.

I can agree that the quality of the HHG’s isn’t bad. As in they re not too bright or cartoony. But WDI should have never greenlit the effect with that harsh horizontal cutoff. I’m kind of surprised to see so many here giving that a pass as if it’s not a big deal.

Well we did want them to be as close to the originals as possible! This was always a glaring problem with the hitchhikers.

No, it was always like that. People didn't notice or got used to it.

I never noticed. I went back and took a look at this video from 2023. For a split second you can see the cut off in one of the mirrors but the illusion is much more convincing than the current version. I noticed right away on the first video I saw of the new HHG’s. So needless to say the illusion is not working as well. Probably because they re projections and they re brighter. Hopefully this is something they can adjust or it looks better in person. Again, I don’t think they look bad. Just not happy with how exposed that cut off is. Do the doombuggies have to rock back n forth on that straight-away? In this video they seem to stay fixated facing the mirror unlike the video I saw with the new projections where it appears they are rocking back and forth more throwing the illusion off. In the below video from 2023 the illusion is only off for a split second as the doombuggy is turning into the straight-away.

Funny bit my wife found online. Someone said, if the logic behind removing Constance is that she beheads others and that isn’t acceptable for modern sensibilities.. then we should probably remove any trace of the Queen of Hearts too, right?

The Queen of Hearts is arguably worse, since she is actually threatening us with the act, yeah? -and she actually COULD be considered someone we are “celebrating” since she’s a walk around character we try and take photos with or cheer on in a parade.

Just a bit of fun. But does make one think. Not sure how much “modern sensibilities” really had to do with it. They shoulda just said, “we wanted to have an updated/better looking effect” and left it there. Everyone understands that.

Yeah, just saw this one, really shows the differences in lighting / projection design for the graveyard. I love that a lot.

This video shows how there always were ghosts rising in the background, but they were very faint and hard to make out

Now they're brighter and more detailed, but they and the added fog don't impact the overall darkness of the scene
