Any ideas of the cost compared to the gondola?
The only costing for a comparable WEDway is how much the 1975 single station, 4600ft duel loop track version cost.

With inflation this comes to less than 1/5 of the current gondola cost.

It’s worth remembering the more advanced version two planned for LBV was also more expensive. By how much I don’t know.

Honestly, would have been my preferred alternative.

I wonder if they’ll consider it for AK to AKL? Given the short distance, it would make sense, especially if they put a station or two in at Kidani as well

Here is a photo from this morning at international gateway. A lot of trees were cut today.

Just a new 'walk through' IP connection to an upcoming film adaptation!

Three ropes and the Hollywood Studios one could be any time after they put the last two towers up. The other two lines they still have stations and towers to finish. Rope pulling can be pretty quick at ski resorts. Like a few days.
And this is all pretty flat, so no large mountains to complicate things.

We're living in a dream world if we think in any way that translates to today.

Sorry folks, I do not buy for a second that current Disney could deliver a WED-Way with equivalent capacity for any less than 2-3 times the cost of the gondola. Gondola's are dirt cheap by mass transit standards. Mostly due to the reduction of physical infrastructure alone. Tack on a current day in-house Disney solution? I think Martin switched the denominator and numerator around.

I'll assume that the 1/5 figure above is inflation adjusted, but not path length adjusted as well. So, let's make that inflation-adjusted cost and take rope length as an approximation of path length:

TIG rope will be approximately 16,500'
THS rope ~7,900'
TPD 6,200'
Total 30,600'
...

So the gondolas are 6.6 times as long as the only comparable WEDway. Already the gondolas are costing less and we haven't added any more stations to the WEDway yet.

We're living in a dream world if we think in any way that translates to today.

So, seems to me both of you are right?

Just a question to satisfy my curiosity....the area they are building the International Gateway Gondola station, what was the initial intent of that space or what was it ever used for?
