So unlike the other forms of Disney transportation, these will run 24 hours a day, even when the parks have closed for the night?

Where you implying in your original post that the Gondolas would be closing every day due to weather or due to normal operational procedures? I think it's safe to say that since you were replying to a post about the CiF baloon closing due to high winds and implying they would close every day due to weather and not the later... so no they will not be closing everyday excluding daily operating hours.

Correct me if I’m wrong but ski lifts work in higher winds than gondola style lifts?
I think you're right but @Lift Blog specifically said "Doppelmayr gondola"...
They swing most when they are empty. We stop running the Doppelmayr gondola I am in charge of at approximately 45 mph. Wind direction matters. Up or down the line is not as bad as straight across. Of course Disney will have lines going in every direction!

Why would you think they would run it 24 hrs a day?

If the intended purpose is to transport people between thier hotel and the parks (which it is) and the park is closed... logic would suggest that the gondola will shut down for the night after the last rider has departed and start back up the next morning before the parks open.

Just like the busses, boats, and monorail...

It’s certainly going to be an interesting first year or two.
Agreed! There'll probably be some bumps (turbulence?) along the way, but I'm hopeful it works out as well as WDW wants.

I'm really looking forward to it though. Having a new form of transit to the parks? Exciting. One that should be consistent and reliable? Awesome. Something that is bought from a company with a good reputation, has lots of experience, and not designed in-house (WDI)? Even better.

This is not a shot at WDW/WDI, I'm just happy they went with something that's been proven in many locations around the world and went with a "off the shelf" solution rather then a custom, one off system. Personally, transit is something best left to the big kids and not "entertainment" companies.

These will close every single day.

That’s not what you meant.
I was giving the troll who wanted to hear that these death traps were going to always be broken the answer he wanted to hear. While being technically correct.

Is it just me, or have people's sarcasm filters been clogged up recently?

For the second time within the last few days, a post that I immediately read as as a sarcastic response was being interpreted as a serious answer. Lol

It seems we've reached a point where the wink emoji is required before making a witty reply. Even with posters well known (IMO) for such responses. Sigh.

Buses are more reliable and break down less.

At the far end of the Hollywood Studios parking lot, construction continues on a structure that seems to be larger than just a cable tower. Beyond the green construction fence is a drainage ditch between the new Hollywood Studios entrance road and this structure. This structure is being built on the opposite side of the drainage ditch and the new entrance road. Based on the concrete base in the foreground, which is not lined up with the Skyliner pathway, I initially thought the structure might be a "turning point" on the line, but it is not. Still not sure what is the purpose of the concrete base in the foreground.

Could the far structure be part of a new parking lot toll plaza along the new entrance road?

How far out into the lot is the low concrete base in the foreground? Could it be in preparation for the upcoming redesign of the bus stop areas?

I would like to see the gondolas run after park closings, at least till midnight. Allow CBR, Riviera, Pop, and Art Guests easy and quick access to the Boardwalk night spots. Restaurants, lounges, bars, and night clubs might actually be crowded into the night. And that would be nice, in my opinion. I love staying around Crescent Lake, but hate how desolate it can get at night after the parade of people file out of Epcot/MGM after fireworks. Here's hoping gondolas run a good portion of the night.

I would expect that. Of course, I also would expect MGM or whatever you call it to stay open very late once SW Land opens.

These look like bridge pilings. I know they are putting in a few bridges over the canal and this might be one of them.

That makes sense- keep it running while parks and restaurants are open, just like other Disney transportation.

However, the other person said 24 hrs. There is no reason for it to be operating when the attractions are closed, just like busses, boats, and monorail do not operate 24 hours a day.
