It is people coming from a resort, not like the parking lot. There are limited numbers and they won't all be there at the same time. I have never had a long wait even at MK security. The key is that people don't have to bring everything they own with them. That will speed everyone's move up.
I think that memo got lost in delivery

Except it's people coming from 4 resorts, accounting for something like a third of all rooms at WDW.

So at busy times, there will be a long continuous line of arriving guests. Especially when SW:GE opens!

Which is why it makes sense to have security at the resorts rather than at IG and DHS.

How many are actually on the gondola is not really relevant, it is how many need to go through the security check at the same time. Since most of the affected resorts will have their own separate security it should not be anywhere near as long a wait as just the main entrance to the parks. In other words... it will be fine.

Assuming the gondolas unload is inside the IG sterile area right?

Will it not be? I was under the impression that the gondola stations would be inside the security zone.

Unless what you mean by sterile area is that Disney will pour bleach all over you as you walk into Epcot...

Would take care of all the people who don't "believe" in showers.

Reminds me.. is AKL the only one resort with no special connections other than old plain buses, right?

AKL, the three Stars, Coronado, Pop, and AoA rely on buses to get to a park or Disney Springs. Old Key West, Saratoga Springs, and and the Orleans have a boat access to DS, but then they rely on bus for the parks.

Gondola transportation between AKL and AK park would be the most on-theme of any area of WDW. The relatively low demand and long distances for extending beyond there make it unlikely though.
It would need Disney to build another entertainment hub like the Boardwalk to the East of AK, or maybe a 5th park around there, before the buses stop being AKLs resort link.

Have you ever ridden a camel? It is horribly uncomfortable, bumpy, the camels stink (and so do you afterwards) and they spit.

Believe me, I wouldn't do that again if you paid me!

No. Just no.
Well, based on windy days rocking the gondolas, and being locked up in a glass hut with 7 other sweaty tourists (with just "natural ventilation"), sounds like the two experiences won't be so different.

Except for the spitting.

We hope.

In all seriousness, if AKL had even slightly better transportation options, I'd never want to stay anywhere else. Other than location/transportation, it's far and away my favorite WDW resort.

The images they have published look like they are outside the security perimeter. When you look at the drawings of the redesigned parking lot and bus loading it also looks like the station is outside the security perimeter and like it would take quite a bit of work to extend the security perimeter to include it.
