You’re going to get a nice look up backstage with the system as designed, so I’m not sure that’s really a solid argument against coming in at a different point.
I think that will mostly be blocked by landscaping and the Rat show building. The gondolas may be higher than the treetops, but the trees will still limit the angle of view.

Too funny. I must have missed blog Mickey by about 30 minutes today. Yes, it’s been a bit breezy all day. That being said, the majority of the swaying was mostly when they were stopped, which was quite frequently. Once they were moving there was minimal sway.

On a side note, I was curious how they’ll handle the path to Epcot once the bus depots open? Sorry if it’s already been mentioned but it seems tight as it is to even get a bus around the corner yet alone room for a sidewalk... speaking of which, they need to do some cleanup work. Yikes! I live here and totally get how difficult it can be to keep up with nature but walking under the bridge it would appear they aren’t even trying! I also find it amusing just how close the boardwalk parking lot turn is to the walkway :).

I think we'll need to wait for the Rat area to be done and some actual gondola rides before we'll know for sure.

Beyond the Rat ride building, there's the courtyard too. We will not know how they're marking the new park edge until it's done. But, at a minimum, they'll have regular guests in the park in areas that were previously backstage, looking at what was the backstage side of a building but is now in regular view. This is the same area with the greatest exposure from the gondola. However they fix (or do not fix) this area will impact both viewers. Maybe not the roof, or items on the roof, for the people on the ground. ;)

The farther East your view gets to the park beyond Rat to what will still be backstage the farther West and away from the view the gondola will be. Someone somewhere either got super lucky with Rat expansion renovating a backstage area to change the view, or it was a well thought out master plan between the two.

The walkway between the rest rooms and the 1st bus shelter already connects with the existing path.

Yes. Walk through there quite a bit :). I was speaking to the other end of that bus depot. They added a bit of concrete towards the water to keep the path wide due to the fence but it just seemed tight for a bus to also go through. Sorry about the small thumbnails above but it’s the one the starts with BA2. I’m probably over thinking. Just curious ;-).

Ugh... just imagine a couple of high schoolers (or immature adults) deliberately trying to make a gondola sway, particularly in a situation like the one in the video from BlogMickey. :in pain:

Not that this would dissuade me from riding on the gondolas. Wary, yes, but stop me, probably not (as I sit here writing this at this moment in time).
That sounds really fun TBH LOL

The buses will only run down the side opposite of the water.

While there are some benefits to the gondola system, I am really saddened to see how this along with the Rivera project have destroyed the CBR. The Aruba and Jamaica sections look awful.

Is Disney eventually planning on tearing these sections down for a new resort at some point because I would never stay there again (mind you this was my home resort as a kid)?

Buses normally won't be turning around at that end; that's where they'll enter and exit the loop. If a bus does need to get from the 2nd platform to the 1st platform, and it's too tight, they can exit the loop, circle thru another loop, and come back to the 1st platform. If you're thinking about buses pulling into the bus stop, the stops are angled out so a bus pulls straight in.

I just don’t think we can speculate at this point how the gondolas will look in 30 years.

There are 20 year old vehicles that look like crap (buzz lightyear) and 20 year old vehicles that look as good as they did 20 years ago. It really all depends on where priorities fall.

At some point Disney just decided to neglect the monorails. Hopefully that doesnt happen here.
Great post Peter, not to mention there are also 100 year vehicles, the steam engines, that look pretty good. (Not perfect per say, but honestly I'm okay with a century old steam engine showing a little bit of age. It is an antique after all.)

I like the gondola's quite a bit, but I agree with you re. them running through Aruba and Jamaica.
It's not even the towers - it's what it is going to look like with a constant stream of cabins running through.
It's just out of place there.
I'm thinking about a CB stay, but I'll book Trinidad if I choose that hotel.

Why are they out of place? There are gondola/rope way systems operating in the Caribbean. Including one in the real Jamaica.

Why is this destroying the resort and out of place but a monorail running through the Polynesian is just accepted?

The monorail and the Polynesian were designed at the same time.
The application works in cohesion.

Yes, I know that there are gondola's in the actual Caribbean.
But here, at this resort (not the real Caribbean) the system runs low and right above the footpaths and beaches.
I don't think it'll be terrible from the other side of the water, but I wouldn't want to stay on the side that they are on.
