Access to Ratatouille from International Gateway will bypass most the existing pavilion.
While that is good news, do you think the influx of people visiting the attraction will spill over into Les Halles? That is obviously dependent on if Ratatouille will be open in the morning. Apologies if its already been mentioned if it will or will not, I have not read every page of the thread.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone has stupid, snobby, high standards for a gondola tower. Sometimes I'm glad I never visited WDW in the old days, I couldn't imagine being a bitter hater of everything the company does in the present day.

I take it with a huge block of salt. Nostalgia makes it seem better than it was. And Disney has done a lot of promo that makes it seem like thematic cohesion was better than it actually was.

It isn’t bad to hold WDW to high standards. But it helps to realize they have never really been as great as we remember.

From my Google modeling, I'd say there will be precious little of Epcot backstage visible; certainly no more than when taking a bus.

The big backstage mess visible will be BoardWalk Inn's backstage. And parking lots. Lots and lots of parking lots.
Yes, and it's a pretty good bet that those parking lots are visible from the ground as well. And just like the parking lots which are there as a utility so that people can get to the parks, so goes the gondola's except that the gondola's will be a lot more fun.

Just as a side note... I have been going to WDW just about every year for 35 years and I haven't even seen the show side of BoardWalk yet, much less backstage. I don't think that is considered the "show" anyway. Just a decoration and place to spend more money.

I don’t think he was on this one.
I'll take your word for it as I have never visited Boardwalk. It just always struck me as a shopping/eating location and, of course, hotel. I fail to think of that as anything other then just another resort. Mileage/Kilometers may vary.
There is no ticket booth.

The board walk of BoardWalk is... nice. Some good food service there. Pretty views.

If you come from a shore town with a board walk that has rides and piers (Coney Island, Sea Side NJ, Wildwood NJ), you'll be a bit disappointed at how skimpy this board walk is in comparison.

The complex is basically the usually deluxe level restaurants and shops you would expect in a duluxe resort like BoardWalk Inn, but, it's arranged as an outdoor mall with a Northeastern shore board walk theme. There are just as good, if not better, food services inside of Y&B and Swolphin. The entertainment is spotty... you never know when they'll be there and it's just a street performer. Compared to other deluxe complexes, it has a leg up with regard to having a piano bar and a dance hall (and I've rarely ever seen the dance hall really hopping). There is certainly no rides there and just a kiosk or two of a typical midway game you'd find on real board walks.

It's... nice. It serves the purpose of the amenities you find in most deluxe resorts. And the theming is pretty. If you're on a four-park vacation in four days, I wouldn't recommend making it a destination. If you have a eight day vacation, it's worth seeing, especially if you're staying in a Crescent Lake resort or walking between Epcot and DHS.

IMHO.

We were in the villas and I LOVED it. The easy access to Epcot and the general atmosphere was just incredible.

Compared to Beach Club across the lake, it was a much more enjoyable experience.

Boardwalk along with Seven Seas Lagoon are my favorite out-of-park areas at WDW. Both are relaxing enjoyable spots to spend a little time. We usually stroll around it at least once per trip. In fact we were married at the boardwalk pavilion, Sea Breeze Point, and had our reception in the BW convention center. These pics are immediately post wedding ceremony:

Favorite BW restaurant though is across the way, Beaches & Cream :hungry:

Maybe one trip we'll rent the multi-bikes (not sure what they are actually called)

This is literally why this is my happy place/area at WDW. We always try to stay around the Boardwalk whether it be the Swan/Dolphin or Yacht/Beach Club. I love taking a stroll at night and grabbing an ice cream and watching the entertainment. Thanks for posting these great pics.
