New EPCOT DVC?

A while back, I heard rumors that DVC may go where the RCID Emergency Services Headquarters is located, directly behind Tutto Italia. Does anyone know if that's still being considered as a viable spot?

according to spirit, a world showcase connection location has been dropped due to costs and problematic logistics. so its sounding more like FW and some of the parking lot.

They could always do the long rumored Hollywood Tower Hotel DVC ...there is space to build it... and no DVC adjacent to Hollywood studios...it is actually the only theme park in Disney World without a DVC attached...
Yah..I thought of that too. But I wonder if I would be able to have an easy sleep in there...and how would the elevators work?????

Hmm maybe in DAK you could rent a special DVC cave in Everest

So as much as people hate DVC, Disney will keep on building them when they have no more buyers to fill them. They don't build these for giggles...they sell out, and rather quickly. And there's a reason for that. After staying in one I'm not sure how I could go back.

The important thing to know is that DVC provides extra ticket revenue with repeat visitors...due to it's point system people come back every 3 years instead of every 5...and they buy what? Tickets, food, souveniers. All goes to the bottom line of the parks, which brings in revenue and hopefully new attractions.

Also I definitely would love to see a new DVC, and if I were a guessing man....good bye wonders of life, hello progress city

California adventure has a DVC with it's own entrance into the park and it is slick...people without DVC would pay a premium for this location.

As long as they keep cramming the guests in for the next few years, TDO are happy. They've managed to convince thousands of people to pre-pay 45 years worth of vacations, and all those DVC members, despite evidence to the contrary, seem to think the the quality and standards of the parks are going to stay the same or improve over that time.

If Disney lets the parks decline, if they don't build much that's new and cheapen what's already they're, to the point where the DVC owners don't want to come every year anymore, who cares? They have your money now. You said you wanted to come to Disney for 45 years... be careful what you wish for. The WDW of 2035 is likely to be very different to what we have today, so it makes sense to build DVC fast and sell them up before people notice that theme park investment has stagnated.

all of these contracts are staggered....so when one 50 year lot is up they have so long to sell that block off and so on. They are doing it now, they can do it then. You also have to imagine that they will run out of room sooner or later in the next 20-30 years...so it's just going to be a cycle of expiration and re-selling.

I'm all for a Progress City structure on the side with the bus loop is now, announce the DVC with a retro future theme and a $1B investment (inclusive of the DVC), future world updates with at least one thrill ride, a new country with a family friendly attraction (show or dark ride) and improved convention /festival facilities and I think they would please Wall Street and the Epcot fans. (Well as long as you keep the world's fair theme in Future World)

A high rise building gives you the most bang for your buck. The huge selling feature is in "views into the park". No better view than the 16th floor of a tower. Plus with the limited space they are dealing with it has to be more vertical. Even with a tower they will probably need a parking garage to make up for extra cars and lost EPCOT spots.

I am looking forward to hearing fanbois whine and cry about a tower ruining the views in EPCOT

People can complain about anything. Why would the base concept of a resort as part of a Disney Park be offensive. That is just laughable. I bet most of the people posting here stay at Disney Resorts... On Disney property... With proximity to a theme park.

The most lauded Disney park on earth, Tokyo Disney Sea, has resort rooms that form the backdrop of part of the actual park.

And... When are parks fans going to reconcile the fact that DVC is our biggest hope. The very moment a DVC fails to sell they will reinvest heavily in the parks to generate added capacity for sales. AND IF... DVC members ever decided to band together and get vocal - they would become a more powerful group than the Disneyland AP holders.

Folks who buy into an Epcot DVC are going to be companies and folks who really really love EPCOT, which is why I think any DVC announced will come with some sort of improvement project for the park itself. (But probably not $1b I mentioned above)

I'm hoping for the same thing. At a minimum they will need to build a parking garage. I posted a while back a crazy idea to build a new ride with the DVC tower directly above it. Maybe where WOL is now. This way everyone gets a new ride and Disney can "share" some of the common costs for the demo work and new building with the future DVC owners. It's a win-win.

I would definitely look into becoming a DVC member if an Epcot resort was made. I still consider Epcot my "home" park since it's the one park I can say I've been to the same year it opened. I've always loved Epcot.

As for the complaints. Some people apparently want it to just be the Magic Kingdom in Florida with all the original rides like it was in '71.

I don't think I've ever seen a complaint about rides being replaced or updated. The complaints I see are about rides and shows and theme being dumbed down and/or lost. A new resort could absolutely be a great addition to Epcot, DVC or otherwise. The park needs to be fixed. DVC won't give the park back it's amazing theme. It won't bring Future World into the 21st century. A new resort is putting the cart before the horse.

I like this....it's all of the above. And this is exactly what EPCOT needs. Now if they can do it without plugging in Pixar and Cartoon characters all over the place. Which reminds me....anyone know what the avg. wait time for nemo is?? 3-5 minutes maybe??

DVC's are like Social Programs...you buy into it, but only the first generation sees the benefits.

TBH I'm sick of DVC's, why can't they actually do some real work and add a ride or something. Making DVC's have probably become second nature for them...waste of talent if you ask me.

Meh...this can float my boat. It could be a great catalyst for Future World re-branding and redevelopment. I just hope they would not 'Waltify' it.

(Well as long as you keep the world's fair theme in Future World)
NO!Just no! Worlds Fairs are past the prime and have no use in what could be a kickass park and land, instead of going for a permanent worlds fair, Future World should become a faux future city. Think about it for a second...then thank me for getting the image of Walt's dream realized in some fashion into your mind.

You and me both, you and me both...I'm really looking forward to the comebacks at my above post as well ;)

You bring up some good points, I hope that whatever Disney does in Epcot, that it FITS, like the hotel in Mediterranean Harbor. I don't want some BS DVC; I want one that is so beautiful, well themed/integrated, and futuristic that I actually regain faith in Disney.
