New EPCOT DVC?

but none of the resort buildings were there...If you look at Google Earth and go back to 1995 the resort was just under construction and there are no finished buildings...So I think all the public resort buildings are from that or the later buildout... The Treehouse Villas were left from the original resort... but I think that is all that is left of the original resort from the 70s

I thought all of the Saratoga Springs building were built for the Villas at Disney Institute... in the 90s...

Most of Saratogas accommodation was built specifically.

Common areas are a hold over from the institute, part of which (clubhouse for example) was built around the LBV original.

Tree houses were all rebuilt last decade.

I'll say this about a DVC attached or in Epcot.....I've been fortunate enough to stay at Grand Californian, and having your own entrance, directly into the park from the hotel is great. I've also stayed at both BW and BC, and yes, they are a short walk, however, nothing beats walking down the hall and right into the park itself.

I bet, that is just a awesome immersive thing IMO. Out of the resort and into the park in a step :)

It was extremely convenient. What is also nice is how small Disneyland and DCA are. You walk right out of DCA (the equivalent of Seven Seas Lagoon's location) and right to DL. Since they are enclosed by the same perimeter, you don't need to do through security screening again. DTD is the rough location of where the monorail platform would be. Sorry for the tangent, but it just demonstrates how nice a hotel in the park is. As a DVC member though, while nice, I too would like to see money into the parks even though I know DVC is its own entity.

The GC looks awesome even without that perk but that certainly adds to it's allure for me. I would guess that with the recent moves regarding management at Epcot we will see some movement there in a new direction. I think in the park is a primary need but a new resort would certainly add excitement as well if done correctly :)

I know most are 'over' the DVC's, but I wouldn't mind the park having a DVC/hotel that you can literally walk into the park from. Of course any park hotel/DVC needs to come with an immediate budget to do necessary work INSIDE of said park (specifically DHS and EPCOT).

I'm not a DVC member and probably won't ever be, but I don't mind hotels where you can walk right into the park from them. It's a matter of doing it right and also taking care of said park.

Anything's possible. It's Disney. Apparently :)

I'm surprised they didn't try to build a "tortuga" type resort on this little patch of land when Pirates were all the rage. I actually think they should turn this into a Pleasure Island successor...a smaller yet manageable island of booze and adults.

Pretty soon it will become popular and fail...like Pleasure Island...

The building that houses the Turf Club and pro shop is straight from the 70's. I'm so happy that it still exists!!

It's been years since you can have a long day at Epcot :)

That's for sure. On my last actual 4 day stay (I usually just make day trips) I was done with Epcot by noon and back in the room. Helped that it was August and hot as you know what, but still ... I did everything (it helps I tour smart and it was actually a slow time), walked around World Showcase and was just done.

They just had too much going on...plus it was rough because whole families would be turned away if they had a minor...I could imagine you could split the island in two, and treat one side as the Kids only section that had it's own thing going on, much like the cruises do now. Pop a pager on the kid and when the parents are done boozing, the go to the front desk....buzz the kid...and a Disney cast member shuffles little bobby back to his parents. Pleasure Island from what I remember didn't have that.

It is. But the reverse is even better. After a long day at the parks just exit DCA right into the resort.

This right here...although BC and BW are a little far to walk after hiking through epcot....

Now if they would just build a fantasyland themed Eurovilliage hotel that you could walk right into FL from the back....it would almost feel like an extension of the new FL
