The baby blue entrance is a recreation (down to the color) of the Pan Pacific Auditorium entrance. The auditorium is a famous LA landmark that burned down shortly after MGM opened. This same entrance is going to be the model for DCA's new entrance.

Anyway, don't look for the entrace to be changed. Look for the DHS letters to be spelled out in simple red letters like the MGM logo currently is.

Yep - knew that - just didn't know if they would be trying to "restyle" it and all. Since they are trying to "rebrand" it and start fresh (if you will).

But good info to throw out there for everyone.

I like it a lot. Very happy to see Mickey in there, good font choice and colors. Nice work Disney.

I agree with your assessment completely. I'm definitely a fan of the new logo.

Funny how we have so many critics. What are they? EBERT & ROEPER @ the Movies!!! Always someone not satisfied. If Mickey had been put above Studios, someone would have said they should have put him inside the "O". :lookaroun

I must admit, the new logo does have a touch of Hollywood glamor to it. I kind of like it! Why I think that the new logo works is because if and when Disney decides to drop the Hollywood the logo will look great. I think that with time the park will change its name again to just the Disney Studios, as I think it should be anyhow. Disney's Hollywood Studios does not flow off the tongue that well.

Adding in: the larger-resolution logo comes across a bit better. Maybe it just doesn't translate as well in a smaller size. I'll upgrade my rating to a "yeeehhhheheh (with flip flopping hand motion)" on my scale.

I'll stick with "meh" which was better than my first reaction.

To me it still feels like a 5 minute Photoshop job.

Ditto for me. I could do without "Hollywood" in the name. Should just be Disney Studios if you ask me (my two cents). I really like that they used Mickey in it.

I think that the "Hollywood" part of the name is included because it leaves open the possibility of including other rides/attractions based on films that are not Disney (as seen with Star Wars and Indiana Jones). The purpose of the park is to pay homage to Hollywood in general, not just Disney films.

P.S. Love the new logo!!!

I like the new Logo. It does make me wonder about the Green Archway though. DO you think they are going to do anything to it? (Besides change the logo on it)

ok well, they officially announced the name change and logo, but now, what is going to change in the park? i mean the name change is really irrelevant if the park stays the same, you arent going to draw people in by just changing the name of the park. has anything been confirmed yet? besides toy story mania what else is going to happen? dhs is like the fat little sister park thats been trying to catch up with the older hotter sister parks for the past almost 20 years, i mean it may have lost some weight and gotten prettier with the additions of tot and rnr but its still severely lacking in alot of areas.. when will we hear any announcements concerning future rides and attractions at dhs?

My thoughts exactly.

Patience, my friend. Toy Story Mania isn't even close to being finished.

Besides, they have to change all of the signs around property (from highway signs to the entrance signs) as well as remove MGM from some of the automated spiels.

TSM is a small drop in the buckett. MGM is now the park we do on our first day to "get it out of the way." There are a handful of great attractions there, not enough to justify getting there at opening and staying through the finale showing of Fantasmic.

Did people REALLY think that someone other than Mickey would be in a park logo?!?!?!? Common now... I'm hoping those are all jokes...

It was supposed to be Donald Duck in there. The reason you don't see Mickey's lower body in that logo is because he is standing on Donald's head, keeping the poor duck down once again. :lookaroun

Which, by the way, goes...
"gag - yuck - fooey - meh - yehehheheh (with flip flopping hand motion) - nice - awesome - w00t"
... in case you're wondering.

it looks like you run a tight ship.

I completely agree that DHS is now the weakest park, even though it houses two of WDW's best attractions in Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster. Say what you want about Light, Motors, Action, but that's a pretty impressive show in my mind as well. With all that said, it seems that over the next few years DHS will be getting a significant amount of attention, perhaps not a $1.2 billion makeover like DCA, but still a significant amount of attention. We all know about Toy Story Mania, but there are some other very intriguing rumors as well: Star Tours 2.0, A nightmare before christmas dark ride, and a Ratatouille Coaster should be very nice C and D-ticket compliments to Tower of Terror and Rockin' Roller Coaster.

I really like it. A bit of a nit pick and I wish that either the "Disney's" wasn't centered or the "Hollywood" WAS centered, but that is extremely minor to me. I really like the font and the style of the logo though. I was kind of worried about how the logo for this name would look and now it immediately feels right to me. It will STILL take a long time to get MGM out of my mind, but I'm pleased with what I see so far.

not too bad. Still hate the name though.

I've seen better logos, I've seen worse. Since the logo has little to do with my enjoyment of the actual park, I don't see it making much of an impact either way.

While I kind of like the "Disney Hollywood Studios" name, I will never, ever refer to it as DHS. It will always be MGM to me, not because I'm so resistant of change, but because DHS is also the initials for Department of Human Services, LOL, and I've had to work with them before in different positions I am in and I refuse to associate that with Disney LOL.

But that's just my personal craziness. :hammer:

I really disagree with the statement that Disney-MGM is less than a one day Park. I was there three weeks ago, spent the entire day there and still happily ignored Tower of Terror, Rock n' Rollercoaster, Narnia, and LMA. I also missed Beauty and the Beast and Muppet-Vision (it's here at DCA, so I figured I could save it for last), which I wanted to go back for, but just didn't have the time during the rest of the trip. I go by myself and rarely stop, so what is it about Disney-MGM that makes everyone think it's only a 4 hour Park? Is it just a "I only want to do the thrill rides" mentality? I'm one of those who likes much of the Park and feels the desire to do everything...time willing. Yes, I think little of those attractions I "happily ignored," but if I'd had the time I still would have done them. I personally feel Disney-MGM is a 1 1/2 day Park, but could always use more to do...and could use a few updates here and there.
As for the logo, it's okay. As mentioned already others, I don't really care for the right justification, but otherwise it is fine. I only hope they keep the same style at the entrance that they've used all along. I love that look.

Aside from the odd alignment, I really like the new logo. I love the gold trim and the fact that Clipboard Mickey is still there (and in this logo, he actually look to be a part of it, not just inserted in) and I love the "Hollywood" font. Definitely grasps the classiness and glamor of the Golden Age of Hollywood. I think a better alignment though would have been this:
disneyshollywoodstudiosxq7.gif

But either way, it was much better than what I was expecting.

I'm sorry if I offend, but I think that MGM is only a half day park to people who can't appreciate more than just rides. It has the best, in my opinion,:

Thrill Ride - Tower of Terror
Roller Coaster - RNRC
3D Film - Muppet Vision
Nighttime Spectacular - Fantasmic!
Themed Restuarant - 50's Prime Time Cafe
Walk Thru - One Man's Dream

in all of WDW. I like DHS a lot more that most people, but I do think that the park does need some work. But with that said, I think it is still the 2nd best park on property right behind Epcot.
