Do TDO always have plans to look at updating FW instead of WS?
I think WS is brilliant but I think they could update FW a bit more. :)

I wish they would just stack it with countries

I wish Disney would fill all the spots with countries based on the original blueprints.

Here is what they could add:
Rio De Janeiro (where: Next to Mexico)
- Imagine Carnivale Disney style, the tropical setting and the jesus on the mountain in the backdrop with lush settings.
- It would work very well with Mexico since they are both Central American and it would be a nice flow.

Russia (after crossing the bridge after China)
- The Kremlin in the background.
- Russian circle dancing and fantastic history
- Having Russia next to China we could call this Commie Corner :)

Switzerland (between Russia and Germany)
- The Alps in the background. Fantastic food (chocolate, cheese, and clocks).
- The transition to Germany would be seamless.

Spain (between Germany and Italy)
- Spain has more a Moorish type of architecture and while they share a similar language with Mexico the culture is significantly different.

Egypt (between Japan and Morocco)
- That brings in an African country.
- Great Pyramids in the background and the Sphinx.
- The history of Egyptian culture alone would be worth it. And add a makeshift Nile flowing along the back..or a ride down the Nile like the little ride in Mexico.

Dubai (between Morocco and France)
- Dubai would put up BIG money to further market their vacation showplace. God knows they have it.
- The advanced architecture and cultural juxtaposition would be something to see.

India (between France and the United Kingdom)
- This makes sense since India was once a British colony and there are direct influences still in the culture...nice history lesson for people.
- Taj Mahal in the background.
- Fantastic food and a little touch of Bollywood. (sponsors perhaps?)
- I bet you would find a Dunkin Donuts and a 7-11 there (just kidding) :)

Finally.....

Australia (between United Kingdom and Canada)
- Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge in the background
- The outback section would be excellent. Aboriginal culture and music.
- You could have an Australian zoo there (Kangaroos, other Marsupials, and Koalas, Emus, Ostrich, Tazmanian Devils....just amazing) and the first time many people would see them.
- Don't forget...a ride taking you on a simulated tour of the Great Barrier Reef. Great lesson in sea life and conservation. Kind of a Soarin' meets Mission to Mars in a sub.

If Disney was able to do all of the above...I would NEVER leave World Showcase.

Any thoughts?

There is indeed water and barges behind the China Pavilion. If you walk around to the right of the show building with the theater inside, you can see water and a barge through the trees. (I took a pic last trip and I was not outside of the boundry allocated to guests.)

Lets take a poll here-

Which country would you vote off World Showcase if you had to. You can only pick one and don't include which you would want to replace it with. Only say one that you would vote off and why.

Although I like all of the countries and wouldn't want any to leave, I would vote off CANADA.

It pass by it without going in more than any other pavilion. Maybe because it's main draws are

  1. A gift shop
Nice but moving on..
  • A movie with Martin Short
Ok I've seen once, I'll see it again in 5 years.

  • Cheese Soup
That's all I keep hearing about from Le Cellier. Cheese soup. Really?

This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it. O Canada, goodbye!

Which country could you live without?

Maybe I missed something or a couple of things but Rio De Janeiro isn't a country it's in Brazil and it's located in South America, not Central America....

Second about Egypt being introduced as an African country, what about Morocco? That's a North African country as well...

Like I said, maybe I missed something, or perhaps someone needs some geography lessons?

Sadly guys TDO sees World Showcase as a mall and nothing more. They are only interested in making profit, hence two new dining spots were built last year. Im not saying they didnt need these because they did really, sorta kinda.

Well, Mexico is in North America, and Brazil is in South.....

Russia is no longer a Communist country, in case you missed the past 15 years or so....

Don't really need another Western European country in the WS, especially one so heavily influenced by French and German culture.

Spain is teetering on financial insolvency, and again is another Western European nation.....

As has been mentioned, Morocco is already a African nation, so....

Dubai has cash and big buildings. Enough said.

I'm relatively certain that introducing India as a "former British colony" is not the way to sell a new pavilion- especially to the Indian government, which has been its own entity for over 60 years now.

And Australia has been discussed before as an addition to AK.

Other than that, golden........

There definitely needs to be something to take the wait time load of SOARIN and Test Track. Mission Space hasn't been as popular my last few trips. Probably its from all the injuries.

They could always get rid of the fire in the show or build on the inner edge of the lake or the center. If a company can build a bridge for boats to cross a road they can do anything

The company that built Walt Disney World's water bridge is not the company running the parks today.

Countries need to grant permission aka "funding" first? hmm interesting well i hope IF there is a new country that they make it fit in to the rest of the world showcase and try not to turn into a super technological country. But if they did do that, wouldnt that mean an entire renovation of the countries?

I have heard that there is a timeline that the countries represented around the World Showcase are held to, I believe that they must all present themselves in pre WWI History. Well, That's what I heard anyway.

Nothing constructive...

"Like I said, maybe I missed something, or perhaps someone needs some geography lessons?"

It's too bad that all of the critics of my slip ups in my earlier post are so quick to point out mistakes, yet they offer nothing constructive, nor do they contribute any ideas to the betterment of World Showcase.

Typical anti-social internet behavior. They make themselves feel better by belittling or insulting other posters, but offer nothing tangible to the discussion.

And Mexico is in Central America, Rio in South, but as an adult I can admit my mistake...just an honest slip while typing quickly. Things happen.

But at least I am not adamantly attempting to insult you about your mistake because I am sure you don't actually believe that Mexico is in North America. Whoever would actually believe that is uneducated and silly.....and I am sure that you don't fall into that category.

I guess alot of you on here don't understand the credibility of Raven on the boards. I would trust Ravens posts 100%.

I remember Spain and Israel coming very close to being built. There was a coming soon sign on the plot for Spain when epcot opened. I remember being told israel took their money and invested in in the wars going on over there. I would like to know what happened to spains money.

Your were making valid points in your post until this.

Mexico is in North America. Look it up.

Yes, it is also classified as Central America, but Central America is not a continent. Thus, when talking about which continent Mexico is on, it is a North American country (as are all Central American countries).

As you know I chime in on things if I have any information about a certain topic that I can give hints about. And here is another little insight that is probably going to spark a lot of conversation and speculation but try not to loose too many brain cells figuring it out because it's all blue sky.

New country concepts? Yes. Are there plans to go forward with one? Nothing as of now.

Here's the deal though. If a new country would be added to World Showcase, more than likely it would replace an existing country.

I know everyone can see where there would be plenty of room between the current countries but those areas were planned to be buffer zones and they really want to keep them that way. One of these obviously large areas is between the African outpost and Germany; however, that area is very shallow near the rear of the African outpost due to the marina backstage. One other problem developing this area is the propane and pyrotechnic storage area for Illuminations is directly behind this plot of land (a huge safety issue). If anything would go here at all it would have to be directly across the backstage gate access next to Germany and be a very small pavilion.

World Showplace (once know as Millenium Village) is not an option any more. This is because they utilize it more for private parties, events and other offerings, partially because it's the only one of it's size that is actually in a Disney park. Currently it's used 1 or more times a week right now but often has 3 or more events per week. This building also added a HUGE kitchen and event storage area when it was transformed into World Showplace. This kitchen is where they cook and cater all private events around the entire WDW property. So it is used every single day and it teaming with activity.

Having stated those issue the only other option is to completely swap out an existing country for a new one. Yes, that can happen and they have looked into it. This may also be the reason why nothing has been pushed forward yet from TDO.

If a new country would be added, WDI is pushing for an attraction to be included to it as well. There are several concepts for one certain country that would be a nice addition to World Showcase with an D or E-ticket attraction. These concepts are a couple of years old but aren't filed away just yet.

So the idea is definately out there. I just don't see it happening soon enough.

Wow, this makes me really not want a new country then. :dazzle:

No buildings are back there due to the safety issue that I already mentioned. The area backstage here is used for a staging area for trees and shrubs for this very reason. This is not an option. If it was they would've put another country in a long time ago.

Its always an option, Disney can move , relocate or rebuild anything they have to to put something in there.

Wow... talk about uneducated. Mexico is in NORTH AMERICA, maybe you need to brush up on your geography a little more before coming in here and calling people uneducated and silly.
