New attraction for AK?

Hope this is true.AK can sure use it. I'd love it to be something original and innovative, but if it has to be a tie in, I'd hope for an original Indiana Jones attraction.
As much as I'd like an IJ ride, it fits in with the other park that needs a ride, DHS.

Just because they had those at the Land and The Seas ... doesn't mean it is a good idea! They wanted to use Little Mermaid in The Seas...

Ok, that's not exactly what I'm talking about, but what I'm saying is I think a big part of the reason they want to put Avatar in Animal Kingdom is to try and give the place some kind of identity, which it doesn't really have

AK is part real animals, and cartoon animals, and dinosaurs, and a yeti, and soon space aliens. I don't think adding Avatar to the mix is going to tie it all to together, it's just make it even more of a mish mash of "stuff", kind of like the Studios which they've had to re-invert every 5 years or so, and now for some reason they stuck a big blue hat in the middle of it

But when EPCOT first opened Figment and Dreamfinder were kind of like the unofficial mascots of the place, EPCOT wasn't all about them, but they were they only recognizable characters there. Everyone associated them with EPCOT and vise versa. So I think Tinker Bell could be for Animal Kingdom what Figment is for Epcot, a kind of mascot

AK is a theme park who's theme is a little vague, and will most likely seem even more vague after Avatar is added, I think they need to find something distinctly "Disney" to represent the place. Next to Mickey Mouse, Tinker Bell is already one of Disney's biggest icons, everybody already knows who she is, and since the park is supposed to be animals and nature, choosing the nature girl who wears a leaf for a dress to represent the place, probably isn't such a bad idea. And maybe if they add some pixie dust to AK it help make Avatarland make sense

No the reason why they want to add anything is to keep the park running later than 6pm most nights when the Animals have to go sleep.

The dedication of Animal Kingdom has always talked about Real, Imaginary and Extinct - Avatar is essentially using the Imaginary hook as the ways to get it into the AK with the underlying conservation message of the whole park.

AK theme is pretty straight forward does it feature a real animal? Imaginary animal? Extinct animal? If the answer is no to all 3 questions than place the idea in the bin and start again. Again not vague to anyone who can read a road sign - and say: "Hey that is Animal Kingdom, that must have rides featuring Animals!"

It don't take a genius to work it out...

I've long argued that a "Critter Country" featuring attractions based on various Disney animal franchises would make a lot of sense as a new land -- sort of a Fantasyland for animals.
I always said the same thing. I think most people would say Camp Mickey-Minnie is a decent placement to cover this, however, it's over-ran by the same 4-5 characters we see in every park just in different outfits. There are so many animal related classic and modern day Disney movies.

Honestly the first time I went to DAK, I knew little of what was there and was expecting to see a lot of Lion King, Jungle Book, Pocahontas, Tarzan, 101 Dalmatians, Bambi, etc etc.. I was a little disappointed in the lack of Disney related animal characters but could appreciate the culture it brought about with Africa and Asia. DAK is still a joy to visit but I feel that a land more directly Disney would be long lasting and timeless compared to Avatar which will be a hit for awhile then an after-thought land that will need scrapped and replaced over time, imo of course. Still question why they didn't recreate the Pride Lands as a land.

Patricia, you might find my series about the development of AK of interest. There's six or seven parts at this point in time. Here's part one. (Just corrected the link.)
This is incredible!

You did an amazing job putting all the information together. I've never seen anything this thorough on DAK. It should be an eBook! There's a guy named Tim something on this forum who makes a lot of money doing eBooks. I think what you wrote up should be an eBook too!
Thank you! Glad you are enjoying the series. I have tons of articles on DAK and lots of rare concept art too.

The Epcot Manifesto
In an act of complete randomness, I would like to make a plea for this upcoming attraction to feature the Duckbilled Platypus.

Don't say it too loud, or we'll soon be chasing Dr. Doofenshmirtz around both AK and Epcot. Agent P's Wild Animal Adventures. Since O.W.C.A. staffs all animal agents, they could shoehorn them right in there in AK and we'll be seeing kids with flip phones trapsing all over the Asia animal trails making a statue in the Bat house pop up.

Know what would be awesome? More Animals.
Seriously, they're down to 5 tigers now and the girls they have are 15 years old.

Cool animals like Pandas or Penguins or something else that could be a headliner attraction, none of this zebra stuff. Unless you're mixing zebras and cheetahs....
What happened to the 6th tiger? Did it go the way of the Malayan Tapir?

Heard anything about an Asian water safari featuring Asian elephants?
There were rumors a while ago about Asian Elephants as well as Giant Pandas. I would expect both would be visible as part of a walk through though or tame/family friendly ride.

In the Parks
Yes
I really think Pocahontas and Tarzan are the characters I would like to see more of in Animal Kingdom. I never understand why they don't put these characters in the parks.

You dont remember the ill fated Tarzan Rocks show that was where the new Nemo Musical theater is ? Man raised by apes = motocross bikes and inline skaes ?
