New 40th Parade and Castle show

I think Paris has the best loacation for the stage its on the side of the castle. Then again they also have the Mickey's Magical Party Time stage in the hub....

They do have a fairly nice stage location... that's barely used. And then they built that idiotic hub stage (both versions, it started out small and ugly, and then got worse when it expanded), for possibly one of the worst shows I've ever seen Disney do (Mickey's Magical Party Time). Not only was it godawful, it was booooring :p I still can't watch videos of it without dozing off. The new show they have is only slightly better.

I disagree with those stating that the performance of stage shows in front of the Castle should be eliminated. While I agree that the aesthetics are in need of a serious improvement on the stage and that the quality of the current show is less than stellar, the show seems quite popular (at least whenever I've passed it). Just because you're not of the age that enjoys character interactions doesn't mean the stage shows are bad. Sure aesthetics are nice, but Walt Disney World would not exist if it were just a beautifully manicured park with plenty of nice trees, beautiful architecture, and nice details. Great substantive content, more than anything else, keeps people coming, and keeps people coming back. Replacing a stage show with trees and landscaping is a step in the wrong direction, in my opinion.

Replacing the current show with a better show and a better stage, however, is a step in the right direction.

I disagree in this situation. The castle show creates another crowd in the hub that unnecessary, while simultaneously taking away from the great look of the castle.

I like DAWM, but it just really detracts more than it adds IMO.

I agree with WDWFigment, castle shows shouldn't be ended outright. A much better show is needed. I'm biased, being in the theatrical side of things, but live entertainment is a big part of what makes the parks special to me. High quality parades and shows are one of the reasons I love Disney. That's why MK is so frustrating to me, as there is a distinct lack of what I expect from Disney Entertainment (no offense meant to the performers, they give their all, they just have meh material to work with). Hopefully this improves.

It's a pipe dream, but I really do wish they would learn from the Tokyo approach to entertainment. The parks are literally packed with shows and parades, and it all adds to the experience rather than detracting from it. You could spend days and days there taking in not just the rides, but all the entertainment options. And then about every two months you could come back and see at least one if not two or more ever changing seasonal event shows. It's an oddity to see a show last past 10 years there (heck, it's unusual to last past 5, really), and because of that I would think Tokyo's history of parades and shows would rival, if not blow away, any of they other resorts.

Guess it's a matter of opinion then, because I think ours is better looking then Tokyo's. I dislike the dark color and the stage is way to big. It takes away from the castle.

It's not a permanent stage. No stage that has been built in front of their castle has been as permanent as MK's stage seems to be. Every time a seasonal event castle show is staged, a new stage is built/set up for the unique needs of each show. The have been all different shapes and sizes, all decorated differently. Some have had plumbing for fountains, water cannons, and mist screens. Others have had fire, fiber optic effects, pyro, giant inflatables, even an AA(ish) dragon. Most have had stage lifts and automated set pieces/props. There was one show that had a number of skate/bike ramps integrated into a Winter Wonderland that reached into the audience space. Another had a runway that extended from the castle all the way across their sizable hub. Some periods though, (right now in fact) when there's no castle show (but rather something else like a special parade), there is no stage, just a large plaza. Also, I believe the path through their castle is only blocked actually during the shows (I believe 2 or 3 times a day). The performers get to the stage by forming a sort of processional through Fantasyland in full costume. Many guests will line up around the designated corridor to see the characters and dancers up close and snap photos.

Note: I realize that the above post may have been a bit much in the fawning on Tokyo. Many of you may have already known all of the above, I just hope that my post wasn't pointless...

"Disney's Dream a Fantasy Come True" Parade. I can already see that being the name where all the same floats, but with giant flowers instead of balloons. Tie it in with the Fantasyland makeover.

I'd like to see an old "Kids of the Kingdom" style show for the castle and a
40th parade with floats based on each land of the MK featuring the characters riding our favorite attractions. Parade music based on the attractions and not movies as the 40th should be a celebration of the MK.

OMG, Steve; you must have read my mind! I TOTALLY miss the KOTK shows and the ones that highlighted each land (mid 80's I think).

MK is way overdue for an entirely new parade, and I'm really hoping they don't disappoint. Although I do love the music from PoD...I'm lucky to have seen it on two trips to DL. Now that music is in my head! Welcome to our fam-i-ly time, welcome to our happy to be time...

i love the PoD music, after watching videos of it on youtube i like the princess/minnie and mickey bit. your lucky to of seen that parade :)

I really hope this new parade isn't just another Dreams Come True parade...-_-"

What with DL getting this highly themed Tokyo-like parade, I hope we get something like that for our 40th.

I have a bad feeling that the new parade will be Disneyland's current joke of a parade.

Hopefully not... Watch them simply re-theme that one to the 40th..

Do any of the insiders know if this will be a totally new parade? Or will it be yet another chapter to the Dreams Come True saga or will it be borrowed from another park? Thanks.

Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade will be changing very soon yet again but essentially will remain the same parade.

Omg are you serious? They really are going to change the parade Yet Again? This is ridiculous especially since DL is getting a brand new parade next year. What the heck is wrong with WDW! Maybe this is just to get them by till the 40th but still. There even was a perfectly good parade "PoD" they could have brought to the MK but nooo. This is Very irritating.
