I think you can make the case that the DLH DVC tower will actually help them finally sell out Aulani direct. Aulani is priced fairly, both in terms of price-per-point and point-per-night. There's just not enough volume of people who are wanting to go to Aulani frequently AND go to Walt Disney World frequently. You can sell a Philadelphia buyer on the 12 different ways they can use their VGF points within a three hour flight, but you can't say the same thing to someone in El Segundo.
Now they'll be able to entice Aulani buyers with the DLH tower. You and I know that it'll be harder to book at 7 months than Animal Kingdom Value Studios, but the buyers don't know that.
I didn't say that's WHY they're doing it, I just think it could be a happy byproduct.a lot of tire pumping in there again...
they’re trying to reload Disneyland
nothing to do with imagineers Hawaii

If I'm a California resident, DVC is a much more attractive product in a world in which Aulani and DLH Tower both exist than if it were just one of them.
Speaking of which, is there any reading I can do on what the hell they were thinking with VGC?
Couldn't they have gone up? As in, vertical.they didn’t have any room...Michael was trying to build “condensed wdw”. (Because he was an east coast guy and that was good for us)
but they had no room.
Vertical is problematic with the neighbors. That era was about the nadir of Disney-Anaheim relations.Couldn't they have gone up? As in, vertical.

Disneyland is kind of a mess in its entirety in this regard.I think local ordinances became an issue...
but also remember that was a different era...they didn’t build towers without regard to sight lines then...at least not with wreckless abandon
It's so bad. And not just for its own sake, it also breaks Caribbean Beach.good god...is that riviera thing ugly...it just hit me. Bay lake without an excuse
Any updates on this? Has construction started? Any completion date? Any idea when they might start selling points?
The information they shared with the city of Anaheim indicated that they would open the hotel about 2.5 years after they started site prep. So that would put opening fall 2023, and presumably then points on sale summer of 2023.They just started tearing down the building that's there very recently
DVC=MONEY and nothing stops MONEY…Well, despite repeated claims that no more DVC units would ever be built at Disneyland due to restrictions with the Anaheim city government, Disney has filed plans for a 12-story, 350 room DVC tower at the Disneyland Hotel.
They say the design will blend in with the other towers. I am surprised at the scale-- today there are only 71 DVC units at Disneyland, so the inventory will be going up sixfold. Based on the insane resale prices for the Grand Californian, I'm sure they'll make a fortune.
Disneyland takes first step toward building 12-story Disney Vacation Club timeshare tower
Disneyland submitted an application on Friday, Nov. 22, to the city of Anaheim for a conceptual development review of a new 350-room Disney Vacation Club tower.www.ocregister.com

Until opened the project can always be cancelled I suppose. So its proposed until it officially opens. In the text he says “proposed new tower” - is it still considered proposed if it is under construction?

It’s proposed until all 50 states approve the sale of timeshares related to it. VGF phase 2 is still proposed too and I don’t believe are available to NYS residents. In the text he says “proposed new tower” - is it still considered proposed if it is under construction?
I can't see how room usage would determine the status of whether its "proposed" or not. It’s proposed until all 50 states approve the sale of timeshares related to it. VGF phase 2 is still proposed too and I don’t believe are available to NYS residents.
Update: it is available to NY residentsIt’s proposed until all 50 states approve the sale of timeshares related to it. VGF phase 2 is still proposed too and I don’t believe are available to NYS residents.
It’s a proposed timeshare project from the perspective of the state of New York, who has to approve it independently for Disney to market it to NYS residents. It’s not proposed in California, where it’s approved.I can't see how room usage would determine the status of whether its "proposed" or not.
In addition that would only apply to the marketing and selling of DVC for that tower, not the whole project itself.
The project is not in New York its in California, so that shouldn't have any bearing here. Besides they aren't even marketing and selling those DVC units yet, not even in California, so that shouldn't even be relevant at this point. It’s a proposed timeshare project from the perspective of the state of New York, who has to approve it independently for Disney to market it to NYS residents.
