Neil Patrick Harris Said...

The same people who have problems with Mary Cheney having a kid with her long-time partner, and who would support legislation to forbid gays from being legally married, might have a problem with a recently-out Neil Patrick Harris allowing the story of Jesus to emanate from his sinful, sinful lips.

*I* don't have a problem with Harris' involvement in the presentation. Obviously, Jimbo was trying to make it as clear as possible *HE* doesn't have a problem with Harris' involvement, either. But rest assured, there's some small-minded bigot somewhere out there, who's going "hold on, now, hold the phone, now, hold up a dang-dong minute there...that fella...who uses his voice to bill and coo to other fellers...who uses his lips to do unspeakable sinful things with another man...they allowed him to talk about MY baby Jesus? In PUBLIC? IN DISNEY WORLD?!?!?!

But, on the plus side, maybe they'll do another one of those wonderful boycotts of the parks, which will insure them to be late-night talk show fodder for a couple of days, plus they won't be in the parks m__________g it up for the rest of us. Works for me. :)

Hehe...back in the day the wing nuts staged a protest for a gay private party at DLR. Staged it at the exit of the parking lot. Oopsie! Hardly anyone saw them.

On a much more somber note, while we're on the topic, the park also received a bomb threat way back when against IASM in reaction to the movie Priest, which was about a gay catholic priest. These people call themselves religious, but I just don't see how you connect the dots from disagreeing with a political statement to murdering innocent children, and claim it in the name of God. That's certainly not what I or anyone else I know learned in Catechism. I often wonder what the world would be like if these sorts of people put as much energy into helping the poor, improving healthcare and education, and protecting our natural resources as they do their xenophobic endeavors.

<Stepping off soapbox - sorry about that!>

Both of these posts have been reported and are offensive.

It's interesting how you both are harping... but yet your bias and prejudice is more prominent and nasty than those you are lambasting. Think about it.

On the 17th we saw the Candlelight Processional with Kirk Cameron. On the 18th we went to AK for the day and saw Neil Patrick Harris walking around with friends while eating at Restaurantosaurous (sp?)

It was pretty cool, just thought I would share.

Reported? I suppose so. Offensive? Matter of opinion. I got two "you're funny" comments and two "how could you" comments. Seems to me like I'm batting .500 :D

Someone asked who could be offended by Harris being involved in the processional. I proffered an example. Personally, I'm glad there was no such uproar, and certainly hope there won't ever be one. Aside from reaffirming my faith in humankind, it's nice because unabashed Disney nerds who are also big-shot celebrities seem to be few and far between and always are a joy to behold.

Now if only someone from The Office would profess a love for Disney I'd REALLY be thrilled.

Howdy--

I haven't been on in a while due to a busy work schedule and lack of decent Internet access. I have also had the privilege of being in the Candlelight Cast Chior (the green human Christmas tree). I was singing the night when he said that he was a huge Epcot nerd, which I thought was really cool. Glad to hear that you all are enjoying the show so much. The narrator that I'm most excited about is Gary Sinese, and can't wait to sing at the Christmas Eve and Day shows (all 3 on Christmas day *whew*).

Have a Magical Christmas!

I was there on the 17th too! Kirk Cameron did a great job!
I would have loved to see Neil Patrick Harris, though.

I was at that performance too, merf! Waited in line for and hour hahaha.

It was worth it just to hear the omnipresent Epcot woman-voice say "How I Met Your Mother"...

I met NPH at the Adventurers Club in November 2005 during our honeymoon, he congratulated us and we had a chat about how much he likes the UK and got totally addicted to the UK Big Brother!!

He and his partner were delightful and to know he is an AC and an Epcot fan just adds to his appeal!!!

I waited in line for 2 hours to get front row seats to see him and this spectacular event. I recorded the entire show, let me correct my statement, I thought I recorded the entire show, but all I got was his opening statement. Do you know how I can get a copy of his show? I too am an epcot "nerd")

Is this NPH's first year doing the reading? Based on the tremendous response he's getting -- I really hope he does it for years to come. I have to get down there and see him. Just AWESOME.

I love the You Tube video, so great to see him "suited up" and reading the beautiful Christmas story. And the fact that he's an Epcot Nerd makes me love him even more.

Go Swarley!

For a normal even slightly open minded person not a thing. Unfortunately not everyone is a normal even slightly open minded person.

It would be nice if me and others of my worldview could have our convictions on the subject of homosexuality without being insulted for it.

It would seem that some people who pride themselves on having such an open mind, aren't so open minded when it comes to anyone who holds a different opinion than them.
