NBA Playoffs

All part of David Stern's master plan to boost TV ratings... :lookaroun

Just like that LA-Boston final would (but only after the Lakers beat the heroic Hornets in a 7-game Western final that gives New Orleans the will to believe in itself again)

I think the NBA's motto at this point is "anybody but (ratings kryptonite) San Antonio or Detroit."
Maybe I am dumb, but...
Could you explain that part to me..Because I am confused by it..Thanks..

The Lakers/Celtics finals were epic in the day. So, David Stern would want these two teams back in the finals just from a financial standpoint but also New Orleans play all of their games to bring the city hope and also, a full 7 games to reap the financial gold.

But why do people think that the city will only have hope if their teams win games?

That is the confusing part to me.

Go Spurs!
Go Spurs!
Go Go Go Spurs!

Go Manu!
Go Manu!
Go Go Go Manu!

GO SPEED RACER, GOOOOOOO!!!!

Oh, wait... Basketball... right.

Pulling for Lakers/Celtics like the old days. Then I don't care who wins because I like them both.

But, um, GO LAKERS!

A couple years ago, when the Saints had a great season and went to the NFC Championship Game, there were plenty of stories in the media about how the team's success gave hope and inspiration to the city, to the point where you'd think they were re-building houses in between plays. They weren't just a good football team (if you watched or read enough stories), they were rebuilding New Orleans with every touchdown.

I was basically playing off that tendency in the media to latch onto anything positive in NO and turn it into a heartwarming tale of resilience and the human spirit instead of just saying "this team is pretty good." It was a dig at the media, not the city.

Not offended at all...

I was just trying to understand..because that is what I always hear eveytime one of our teams do good and it annoys the crap out of me..

So thanks for clarifying it for me..and I think that tommorow I will go and join a group to help rebuild the levees now that the Hornets beat the spurs tonight..;)
Hornets now lead the series 2-0!

Are you allowed to do that?

Yeah, but I have to keep it down when I do. When I was a kid growing up in the 80s, I wasn't always rooting for the home team. Actually, more often than not I ended up annoying my classmates when it came to major games. I never rooted for the Yankees, but I have liked the Mets and Dodgers since '85. I've also liked the Lakers since around then, the Montreal Canadiens since then and the Miami Dolphins since I was about 4 years old. So yeah, people loved me.

What a weird game.

Lebron goes 2-18 with only 12 points...and Allen and Pierce get a combined 4 points...

The Celts were lucky to squeak that one out.

Big game for the Magic. That was a must-win and we did it. That was fun! We just beat the Pistons in the playoffs!

Whew! I thought we were going to blow it for a bit, but the 4th quarter was a blast. Finally good to beat them. Now Saturday looms large.

much deserved.

I respectfully disagree...

I think Chris Paul did much more for his team... Kobe Bryant is a better basketball player in my mind, definitely, much more pure talent... but that's not the award; it's most VALUABLE player...

Let's take the Lakers WITH Pau Gasol... without Kobe they're probably a... 35 win team at the least... 43 win team at the best... somewhere in the middle... so we'll say a 39 win team without Kobe...

Well they won 57 games so Kobe got them 18 wins...

again this is personal opinion but I think within reason you can agree on that argument right?

Meanwhile; the Hornets won 56 games... I think without CP3 they are at the absolute best a 35 win team... and possibly as bad as a 25 win team...

they're just not that strong without Chris Paul... they literally don't have a playmaker without him... they have solid players, but without Paul to get them open looks and make plays... they wouldn't be getting the looks they're getting...

so I think Chris Paul wins them about 26 games... taking them from a 30 win team to a 56 win team...

Again, I know people will argue that... but that's just the way I see it...

the Lakers were 1 game better than the Hornets... without Paul and Kobe... they're probably close to 10 games better...

So in conclusion... Chris Paul provides more value...

(my personal voting would have gone CP3, KG, THEN Kobe... but... that's just me)
