I have heard from another CM that this took place at the Character Spot in Epcot.

The Link to Local 6

ORLANDO, Fla. -
Three Disney cast members were reportedly beat up Saturday night by an alleged drunk guest.

Before responding officers arrived, the call was upgraded because the suspect, Austin De Van Hill, 24, was reported to have struck one of the cast members with a metal pipe.

When an Orange County deputy arrived, Hill was already secured by another off duty deputy in a seated position and was bleeding from the knees, wrists and hands, and the suspect was yelling, continuing to cause disturbance in the park.

According to reports, Hill was escorted by the two deputies as he continued yelling incoherent statements and appeared to be intoxicated, then began resisting attempts to escort him to the security office.

At that time, Hill got out of the deputies' hold, fell and began bleeding after injuring his chin and jaw.

According to the report, Hill was transported to Celebration Hospital where he received stitches in his chin.

Michael Connelly, the first victim, was punched in the head area causing a large gash across his forehead.

Timothy Beltley, Hill's second victim, was punched in the face.

The third victim, Jessica Brown, was struck in the left cheek and neck with a plastic PVC pipe causing swelling behind her ear.

Brown was treated on scene while Beltley and Connelly were transported to Celebration Hospital.

Hi guys, had a look but couldn't see this posted elsewhere. Mrs M and I were in a very crowded Epcot tonight to have a meal at The Rose and Crown and to emjoy IllumiNations. We arrived late afternoon and did a bit in Future World before heading over to World Showcase, Around 7:30pm as we approached Club Cool to get our free drinks we could see a commotion ahead with a lot of angry shouting and movement. As we got close to the entrance there was an angry crowd with people pointing and shouting and there was a nasty atmosphere in the air. A guy lay flat out face down on the concrete with another guy kneeling on his back with his hand pressing the guys face firmly into the floor. The staff had come out of Club Cool and were getting people to move away from the area where possible and people were shouting at the guy held on the floor.

A couple nearby told me that the guy on the floor had been swinging a stick at peoples legs and had then taken a random stranger off her feet with it before a passer by had intervened and 'took him down' for everyones protection. Another guy was telling everyone 'not to panic' and that 'the guy restraining him was a marine' and 'all was ok'. The Club Cool staff member then said that 'security was on their way' and so we ventured in to sample the drinks in the now deserted Club Cool.

The whole thing seemed surreal as I've never witnessed anything (or at least the aftermath of anything) like it before at Disney. Seems like the idiot got what was coming to him anyway, but just wondered if anyone had heard anymore of this unpleasant incident?

Yes.

A man was arrested for assaulting 3 CMs.

Hopefully this will force Disney to change how they handle the food and wine festival.

Not at all likely. They would need a riot type situation where children are hurt or guests are killed shown on YouTube.

EPCOT is surviving as a viable theme park simply on profits from food and beverage sales. Disney may not want these situations, but they absolutely will do nothing to discourage them.

Something like this happens, and now people want EPCOT to not serve liquor anymore?

If anything should happen in response to this, it's different security protocol. Not judging the actions of millions of guests by one idiot.
Yea unfortunately this is no longer an isolated incident. Many people have reported problems with alcohol at Epcot. Kids running around belligerent and drunk, fights, ect. When your paying 6-7 dollars a beer, its unlikely that anyone at epcot is going to cut you off. There lies the problem.
