OK, genius, but if it's not that guy, then you're throwing mud at a random innocent veteran! Have some sense. And why does it even matter who he is? Are you guys really this obsessive?

It matters.

He wouldn't be a veteran, he'd be active duty given that he would have graduated from the Naval Academy in 2012 as an Officer.

It would be one hell of a coincidence that a guy with the exact same name, age and photo would not be the same person.

When Sea World was operated by Anheuser-Busch, the Hospitality House would offer free sample-sized cups of beer. At one time, there was a 3 beer limit and then it was reduced to 2.
I'm not expecting Epcot to follow these standards but at least ugly drunks were kept to a minimum at Sea World. Metal and PVC pipes are another matter entirely. WTH???

Not really a fair comparison as those were free and people would go everyday with an annual pass...

So you're saying Sea World has a 2 beer limit in the park? Didn't think so.

I've been to EPCOT plenty of times during the Food and Wine Festival, it wasn't a bunch of drunken fist fights.

In case you hadn't noticed, Univerals attendance has soared due to HP while Disney's has remained almost flat and it has nothing to do with alcohol sales.

So be respectful when you reply, whether you agree or not. Same goes for you @Bolt

I wouldn't shed a tear if they stopped selling booze, but having a cutoff system is just common sense, even for a money grubbing group like TDO.

I have heard from another CM that this took place at the Character Spot in Epcot.

The Link to Local 6

ORLANDO, Fla. -
Three Disney cast members were reportedly beat up Saturday night by an alleged drunk guest.

Before responding officers arrived, the call was upgraded because the suspect, Austin De Van Hill, 24, was reported to have struck one of the cast members with a metal pipe.

When an Orange County deputy arrived, Hill was already secured by another off duty deputy in a seated position and was bleeding from the knees, wrists and hands, and the suspect was yelling, continuing to cause disturbance in the park.

According to reports, Hill was escorted by the two deputies as he continued yelling incoherent statements and appeared to be intoxicated, then began resisting attempts to escort him to the security office.

At that time, Hill got out of the deputies' hold, fell and began bleeding after injuring his chin and jaw.

According to the report, Hill was transported to Celebration Hospital where he received stitches in his chin.

Michael Connelly, the first victim, was punched in the head area causing a large gash across his forehead.

Timothy Beltley, Hill's second victim, was punched in the face.

The third victim, Jessica Brown, was struck in the left cheek and neck with a plastic PVC pipe causing swelling behind her ear.

Brown was treated on scene while Beltley and Connelly were transported to Celebration Hospital.

Really? They were "beat up"? Perhaps the state of journalism and media bears some responsibility.

Wow that must be it. So it wasn't a marine but an off duty deputy. After all the doubters (fair enough, it is unusual) at least now I feel vindicated. To be honest I was beginning to think I had made it up myself after all the snide comments :D

Unlucky for the guy an off duty officer was there at the time, wouldn't like to be his lawyer though. Still confused where he got the 'pipe' from though, the whole thing seems a very strange thing to happen. I assumne he was on his way out of the park also judging by the location of the incident. Just outside Club Cool heading towards the fountains, so unless he was planning to rain destruction on the triangles on Spaceship Earth's decent with his 'pipe' it appears he was on his way home. Of course he may have just tried the Beverley and decided that something that bad didn't belong in Epcot, even for free!

Let's hope the victims receive a speedy recovery anyway, hopefully they'll realise this isn't an everyday occurrence and it won't stop them visiting the parks again.

If you went to the "beer school" there was a limit of two free beer samples you could get. I think you misunderstood or never attended the beer school.

It seems unlikely Disney will stop selling alcohol at Epcot because one guest got drunk and belligerent...There are always crazy people that will do bad things...There is no way to insulate the public in a theme park from one persons mental health issues. and yeah it is nuts to knee jerk that the park should stop selling alcohol because of a few isolated incidents... There are drownings that happen in the hotel pools all over the world every year, does that ,mean all the hotel pools should close? And lock the thread? Why would you need to lock the thread?

Hopefully this guy will be banned from Disney. I hopefully doubt he will be compensated.
Disney needs to hire more Orange County deputies to walk the parks, both in uniform and undercover. Disney security isn't going to scare anyone.
Just because one person acts stupid doesn't mean it should be ruined for the rest of us.

I remember that long ago people here debated the virtues of alcohol and the fact that they never beheld drunkenness at the theme parks. I remember the heated claims that the parks were free of such things, and any concerns regarding these issues were unfounded. I'm now reading claims of several problems at EPCOT related to alcohol, special events, and morons. I'm left wondering what has happened, except to say that I'm not surprised.

Food and wine festival is not the reason for this isolated incident of a guests becoming intoxicated. Any place that alcohol is sold runs the risk of someone drinking to much. For those that are saying Epcot is out of control I find that statement to be an exaggeration. I'm in the park all the time and can tell you that they don't have fights breaking out in the countries every night lol.
