I had forgotten how beautiful the Fountain of Nations was without the stage.
The pic from DHS with the landscaped area. Isn't that the wide open pavement in front of the BaH now? I soooo wish I had gotten to see this park before I took off from home and left Orlando. I would love to have seen the Chinese Theater without the obstruction. My mind's eye (& old photographs) tell me it was really something amazing to see.
That video camera is funny! I think my mom might have a pic (or maybe I do) of my brother with my grandfather on Main Street back in like maybe '85. My grandfather is holding the big honkin' "state of the art" video camera while my brother is holding the ginormous bag that held the recording device & battery pack that was tethered to the camera by a cord. It was a 2-piece deal. My grandmother laughs at all the ridiculous photo/video equipment my grandfather would throw money into back then. I'll have to see if I can dig up some of those treasures. My grandfather was a semi-professional (prob'ly closer to hobbyist) photographer back in the day. I know there's probably thousands of slides and tons of video taken from all over WDW from day 1 up until the late 80's just sitting somewhere in boxes at my grandmother's house. One of these days I'll spend some time over there digging for them. I'd loooove to give Martin copies of everything and archive stuff for us.
Such a great thread! Thanks for sharing.
