Sorry this such a long thread I've not been able to read it all. We're arriving on 8th October, will the fast pass+/wrist band party be in full swing by then?

No one knows. When Disney is completely ready to implement this program to the hilt, I'm sure there will be "press" coverage galore.....

We are being "tracked" incessantly. Your computer is doing it, your car is doing it, your phone is doing it, cameras are doing it on every street even if it's only on an ATM machine.

Hey guys, I hate to jump into the conversation after only reading the first 10 pages (of 49) but I wanted to make a comment which I hope is still relevant:

The new FP+, and specifically the early booking and limit of three per day, seems not simply restrictive to the vacationer but short-sighted on Disney's part in that it is likely to create unhappy customers (me included). Although TWDC makes some strange decisions I can't imagine they would make such a major revamp without having multiple strategies to continue to tailor the program as needed based on use, demand, and feedback. Specifically, as someone mentioned in the first ten pages, that perhaps a new ticket option will include the ability to add fast passes to your magic band at a second park after entry. I don't get excited about having to pay more to have flexibility but I have to admit I would pay for the flexibility.

I'm trying to avoid the assumption that the sky is falling until it actually does. Either way we will know in the near future.

Hopefully these comments are still relevant. Have a great day everyone.

Hopefully the sky will not fall. However, my future vacation plans will involve locations where flexibility is included in the price.

I agree with your sentiment. I have a tough time imagining that they would adopt a program which forces vacationers to adopt such rigid behavior in terms of long-term planning. Speaking as a father of two young children the fastpass plus system would only be good for the first few days until we started to revisit the things the kids wanted to do again and without simply guessing what that might be would be impractical at best.

We will see.

With FP+, do the windows start at park opening? If so, this could be one of the biggest downsides because it will eliminate the ability to ride standby before the fastpass line screws everything up.

Well, that and by putting FP+ on everything (even Spaceship Earth) it will make all the standby lines horrible. I almost fell over when I saw the RFID scanners at Spaceship Earth on Friday. The worst that line ever gets is 15 minutes and in the afternoon it is always 5 minutes at most even on the busiest days. What is the point of this other than to slow down the standby line so that the poor saps that couldn't get FP+ booked for 'Soarin and Test Track might feel better?

Also, does FP+ eliminate the ability to FP the same attraction twice in a day? At Epcot, except the busiest days you can usually get a morning FP for 'Soarin and then one for the evening.

I know it was discussed that the windows would begin right at park opening as opposed to 40 minutes after

I noticed today on the MDE website that under "My Reservations" and "Tickets and Passes" that all of our current tickets we have purchased so far this year and that I've linked in are shown - Two 7 Day PHs for our boys and all Four of our MVMCP tickets for our early December Trip. However when I go to "My Account" and "MagicBands and Cards" only 3 of the MVMCP tickets show up - mine for my account and our 2 boys which are managed by my account. My wife's MVMCP ticket does not show up as a MagicBand under my account - only if I log in as her. It says all of our cards are active as "Admission Cards". Wonder why the difference?

I also must say that I am very much looking forward to the roll-out of the MM+ & FP+ system, hopefully by our December trip. I'm an avid planner and early adopter of technology and I think it will only enhance our vacation experience, not detract from it as it seems like the majority here fear. Then again I just don't understand some people's concerns over being tracked and such. Get over yourselves and just enjoy your vacation or life in general... I doubt Disney or the government is that interested in you.

Forgive me if this has already been asked and answered, @WDW1974 has any of your sources indicated whether or not there are plans to incorporate the DME check-in process into the MM+ system. Would seem to make sense to me to be able to use your RFID device (wristband or KTTW card) to validate your spot on the bus.

In general, I'm getting a little tired/concerned with all this perpetual digital surveillance either private or governmental. Just how is the surveillance today any different than back in the days of the Stasi?

I think I read someone on here that scheduled their morning passes had one for 9:00am....and the rest could be up to noon.

Looks like fastpass plus eliminates being able to get two for the same ride on the same day.

What I hate now is that someone who can't use their fastpass can't just give them to a stranger. Someone gave me three Big Thunder passes last fall. That was nice of him...

I have no real proof to offer for this, but I have heard of some discussions to put RFID mickey heads at MCO to check in for DME. I don't know what the outcome of these discussions were though and whether this is an active project or not.

It's my understanding that "tickets & passes" and "admission cards and bands" are two separate things (or will be when everything has transitioned).

Tickets and APs will be more of an e-ticket type thing, linked to your account.
The MagicBands and RFID Cards are used to point to your account and access the tickets you have on there.

Presumably, over the years as you goon multiple trips and get a new MagicBand each trip, you could get one of each color and they'd *all* point to your account and its ticket(s) so that you could color-coordinate the band with what you're wearing that day. (As one example)

As long as you're within the three year lifespan of the battery. (I think this is the band's life span)
