So if I show up and don't buy my ticket until I arrive at my resort, will I be allowed to use the FP+ that are set aside, or would I fall under the category of "60 days out"?

And this isn't as big of a concern, but would I still have my MagicBand shipped to me within the 30-10 day mark?

If you don't buy a ticket until you arrive, then how can they send you a band?
You will have to pony up for your tickets months ahead if you are looking to make FP+ ressies and get a Band mailed to you.

DL and DCL, here we come. We live within driving distance of WDW and will sometimes call DVC to see what they have next weekend and shoot down for a 3 or 4 day visit with little to no planning. This is absolute crap that will make me cut that out to some extent. Of course, being a DVC member means I have a free room at a sweet resort that's a short drive from Sea World and Universal Orlando.

1) There is I such thing as unlimited FPs. I didn't make that claim.
2) FP+ is FP virtualized with a preservation component.
3) Disney isn't withholding the information. It's right there in the T&C. Beyond that, I don't see why fanboy angst and internet supposition should cause the company to make any statements about anything.

I stand by what I posted unless or until I hear otherwise. But I don't see that happening.

Are Magicbands ticket-exclusive? Like you need tickets to get the band? Just clarifying...

I didn't know if they would with a Disney resort reservation (should've mentioned that before). Do you still need a MagicBand for resort reservations, or do you just get a card like they have now?

Still, the question is an interesting one. While no FP+ prereservations could be made, the official statement was that bands would be provided to resorts guests, AP holders, and photo package purchasers. They did not say that the resort guests must hold valid tickets in order to be sent the bands.

You don't need anything beyond a CC or debit card for a resort reservation. After that, you can get a band ...

To be fair, very rarely, VERY, VERY rarely do I 'need' FP at WDW. In parts of 17 days there last month, I got exactly three FPs. One for KS. One for ToT. One for PPF.

They all were showing waits of 20-40 minutes at the time (so likely less) and I just didn't feel like waiting.

But I also don't visit during the two weeks around Easter or the week between Christmas and New Years or July 4th anymore ... and I NEVER get to the parks before 11 a.m., but usually late afternoon. Still, I ride plenty and I don't wait plenty. I am used to walking on most things and I have no intention of suddenly standing in a 45-minute standby line for PoC on a Friday afternoon in February. Boy,does this system suck.
So if i'm reading into what they're trying to do correctly (and I could be wrong as this whole thing is very complicated), by introducing FP+, they are hoping to even out crowd distribution on rides on any given day. For example, if say Soarin and Test Track were normally 80 on a given day, they'd hope to get it down to maybe 60, while increasing JIYM and Nemo to 20-25, both of which are normally walk-ons. By evenly distributing the crowds more, not only are they working the system, but they are creating an illusion for those not able to use the system, as the wait times will appear lower, when in reality they will end up waiting the same amount of time they would normally wait.

Am I on the right track here, or am I totally off base?

Yes. The band is replacing your ticket media.
That was not his question.

They have stated that resort guests will get bands shipped to them. A person could have a resort reservation and not purchase tickets at the same time. Based on what the company has released, that person would have a band shipped to him.

What else would the purpose be? Are you suggesting that folks are going to stay at WDW resorts but not visit the parks or have APs but not visit the parks, so Disney will just give otherwise worthless plastic bands out? ... I think it's sorta like an obvious thing, like say including silverware and glasses and plates when you buy a meal and drinks at a restaurant.

Sounds right. And sounds like something that could work theoretically but probably not in reality

No, that is definitely part of the thinking. ... I think it is very flawed, but it's too late now to go into why that is.

Yep, you'll get a band. You'll need it to enter your room. But without a ticket, no FP+ reservations.

The person might have valid tickets already or buy them from a discounter or purchase them upon arrival. The ticket information can be added to the profile at any time.

But would the room key be just a normal card? I read somewhere that room keys were switching to MagicBands.
The rooms will require RFID-enabled media. They have stated that resort guests will get the bands but can opt out and get the RFID cards, if they choose.

If they have stated that ALL resort guests in every room will be sent a MAGIC Band regardless of whether they have any ticket media, then I'll believe it.

I just can't see businessmen staying at the Grand Flo for a convention wanting a Purple sparkle MAGIC Band versus an RDFID card key like they use now ... but it is waaay late and I'll come back in another 21 pages tomorrow.
