I don't care about the less-than-perfect view. Having an area roped off so some jerk can't appear 5 minutes into the fireworks and stand in front of me right before hoisting his toddler on his shoulders would be WONDERFUL.

That's the thing though. These FP+ areas for events, wishes, etc. are just areas roped off from the general public. All the FP+ does is get you entry. Once inside, it will be a standard WDW fireworks/parade fight over space and view and there is nothing stopping anyone from hoisting their kid up in the same area.

It is/was the same thing when we got FP's for World of Color a couple years back. It will guarantee you a spot, sure, but it won't guarantee you a view. You will still need to get there before others and you will still need to jockey for space.

Wishes might not be as bad because of the viewing angle and other reasons, but parades, RoE, I don't have high expectations.

I can somewhat tolerate the toddlers on the shoulders. It's the people holding 10inch iPads above their heads to record the fireworks that really grinds my gears.

I really hope Disney doesn't impelment any new technologies that encourage people to bring their iPads to the parks.

incidentally, has anyone on here tried FP+ for wishes or msep? Reviews?

Ugh. Agreed. Why must we record everything on our iPads? Put the iPad down and actually enjoy your vacation when you are vacationing. You can find hundreds of videos of Wishes on Youtube...

AN IPAD IS NOT A MOUTHERKAJOIDSHCBLNSAD CAMERA!

.... I mean it frustrates me as well. And does when I work professionally as well.

Can I like this post again and again and again? But I'll extend this to all phones and even cameras with glowing screens used to film dark rides. DARK rides, people. DARK rides. DARK... ah, nevermind. It's a losing battle, I'm afraid.

Depending on the numbers of people in the test today I'm not sure how representative a review of how things went during the test would be. I don't think we will know anything meaningful (about most of the FP+ stuff in general) until large portions of people/full roll-out happens.

I fully expect them to pack as many people into these spaces as possible, standing room only. I also expect that the Wishes/RoE/parade FP+s will be the dumping ground for everyone else once the "good" FP's are gone. If all that is left is Wishes or Dumbo, I would think most people would pick wishes.

I've been thinking a lot about the DVC peeps..How do DVC owners at WDW feel about the FP+? If you had known FP+ was coming and the full details, would those details have changed your mind about buying DVC?

The best part is when the cover flap is down too and it creates this billboard-sized thing that really blocks your vision.

TSMM is the reason something must be done. There is a mad rush in the morning for FP at TSMM.

The lines for TSM are a symptom of a problem with the park it is in. DHS lacks rides. Specifically, it lacks rides without height restrictions. You could put a merry-go-round in DHS and it would have insane waits because families have little to do in that park.

Toy Story Mania is one of the better family dark rides, add in a low capacity and it generates long waits. When you put it in a park that gets 10 million guests a year and has only 6 rides it makes it that much tougher.

Laugh at the idiots. All you can do. We joke each and every one of them every time someone does that. It is hilarious and people have no idea just how dumb they truly look.

"The Site I Used to Frequent"?

It's a fairly open forum. If you're looking for incessant accolades for Disney, there's other sites out there.....

Not complaining. I wholly agree with the negative sentiments. That's why WDWMagic seems like such a misnomer these days.

Why call them idiots, though? How do they look dumb? There's a camera in the iPad... Should they not use it? How is using the CAMERA in the iPad to TAKE PICTURES idiotic? Just curious.

Disney used to love its AP holders. When I was an AP holder, prices were held in check and discounts were pretty good. Lately, it's the exact opposite:
  • Annual Passes up 17.3% in 2 years.
  • Premium Annual Passes up 12.3% in 2 years.
  • Children under the age of 10 now are charged the full adult AP price.
  • AP merchandise discount was cut in half.
  • TIW price went up 33%.
It looks like Disney decided its AP holders were not spending enough per visit or, alternatively, assumed anyone who signed up for an AP would go no matter what the price.
TIW has kinda become a rip off. Increased price and forced to tip 18% regardless of the quality of service make it difficult to want one. We have noticed on the last few trips that getting quality service at TS restaurants has become rare. If they see a TIW card they know they are getting a tip regardless so they rush you through the meal and try SO HARD to maximize the price of your bill. We dont even get the dining plan anymore. We enjoy trying new QS locations and most of the time you can find the same quality of food for less price and you dont have to worry about being rushed or getting crappy service. Sorry to get off topic, just had to say something!

I stopped buying TiW about two years ago. It was getting harder to use anyway since it's getting impossible to walk into a TS restaurant. Even when there are plenty of empty seats and no waiting hordes.

I have used my iPad in the parks for taking pictures and movies before. My wife and I were on a mini vacation and that is how we kept in contact with our kids back home. We even FaceTimed with the kids and let them watch the MSEP one night. Neither of us have a smart phone (why do I want to pay $40/month for a data plan?) so it worked for what we needed. When we used it we took the cover off and at night we turned down the brightness of the screen so that it would not bother others. I guess I don't judge others for carrying around a heavy camera and equipment all day, why judge me for carrying an iPad?

The camera in them is relatively aweful... your pocket Point and Shoot will do better
They can't use any practical zoom or framing of the photo...
Instead of using a pocket sized something.. they use a piece of gear nearly 1ft square..
They use a big honkin LCD that is obnoxious to everyone around them..

Why pay $500+ dollars for an aweful camera when a $100 one will work better, and be less obnoxious? They didn't pay $500 for it to be a camera? Oh that's right.. they didn't buy it to be a camera.. then stop trying to use it as your main camera!
