Okay so LucasFilm studios taking over Echo Lake, it would be like roaming on the backlot of their studio (not supposed to be real studio though).

1. ILM VFX show with Animatronics and Effects and real movie effects in Front of Your Face
2. Indiana Jones EMV ride cloned from DL
3. Endor night fireworks like the conclusion of Episode 6 with walk-around Star Wars characters during the show
4. Mos Eisley Cantina
5. Indoor Jedi Training Academy w/ Yoda in Tatooine
Hollywood as in THE TOWN. Try again...

Ok so in my opinion with Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd we already have enough areas themed directly to hollywood. So for my post I am going to consider slight modifications to Sunset Blvd. I want the area to reflect the Golden Age of hollywood still, so the facades do not need to change. The first major change, bulldoze over Beauty and The Beast Live. Smash the whole thing down! Not because I hate the show, but because it's dated and it sits on prime real estate!

So I think it's fair to assume we're all saving our ambitious DHS ideas for Streets of America and Backlot right? So in order to save that real studio feeling in the park, Beauty and the Beast will be replaced with a set walkthrough area. Guests will be able to walk around multiple movie sets, being immersed into various movies. However, the back of the sets will be completely visible so guests can see the movie magic. The area will feature an Agent P type game, interactive elements, various shops and live actors picking out guests to be in the movies! The sets will include:

-Mary Poppins London Street
-Intolerance Set (Google it)
-Star Wars Tattooine (Taken out if Star Wars area comes into play)
-Indiana Jones Temple
-Pirates of the Carribean Port Royal and the Black Pearl
-The Lone Ranger Cowboy Town

This area will also take over the Fantasmic entrance path. Instead guests will go through a tunnel to enter Fantasmic, the tunnel will be themed as a pre-show to the show.

The next major change to the area will be a total re-theme of Rock 'n' Roller coaster. To fit the rest of the areas theme, the ride will now be based on music in the movie industry. The point is to show guests how important music can be to a movie. The pre-show will involve a composer inviting you to a recording session for upcoming films. The ride track will be lengthened but that is all, the launch will stay the same. During the ride, the large cutouts you pass on the ride will now be based on different genres of movies (horror, action, adventure). As you pass the themed cut outs the music will match the mood of these films.

Last but certainly not least, Red Car Trolleys. These bad boys will roam not only Sunset Blvd but Hollywood Blvd as well.

Well that's my idea, although it sounds like a lot I am really just keeping the good old Sunset Blvd we all love and changing what we don't love, then adding a little bit more fun. Choice is yours ;)

Well actually you changed a lot. Sunset Boulevsrd isn't a movie studio. Though your studio set idea was good just for another place.

My idea is coming later today! Just wanted to inform you its based on the fifties.

I also think the backlotish type thing is cool! But I guess I don't really get it? Is it like a play area where kids have fun? Or more of a museum thing? And also I agree with tip top that the streets at dhs might not be big enough for a red car trolley! Although I would love for one at DHS!

CHALLENGE 2: OLD HOLLYWOOD
You must design one new Hollywood (the town) based area for DHS. It can be any time period since 1880. Good Luck!
Burbank! This would be the only land (in my version of DHS) that would pretend its a real studio and teach inside the process. This would be in backstage space behind Sunset a boulevard and replacing Aimation Courtyard. Burbank is where many film studios are. In part of the Burbank land there would be a fictional studio called Moonshine which houses the VFX show, raft ride, quick service, and the sound show.

1. Visual Effects effects Show like Posedions Fury with movie effects unraveling in front of your eyes (ILM show was gutted)
2. Water Raft Ride - Indoor/Outdoor raft ride themed to a water-tower breaking and a flood in the town.
3. Untitled Sound Show that emphasizes the need of sound in film.
4. The Prophouse - Famous props from films in an exhibit.
5. Untitled Movie Process Ride - Omnimover ride like spaceship earth that takes you through a specific filmmaker's journey (getting the idea, pitching the film, writing the script, shooting the film, etc.)
6. Moonshine Comissary Quick Service food

OK!!! so My idea was to creat another Time Period Area of Hollywood! I feel as though the 30's and 40's are represented very well through Hollywood boulevard and Sunset Boulevard and so I am introducing and new Street that is set to the 50's! This land will take place from where rockn rollercoaster is and go back and lead into Animation Courtyard!

-The street would be Called Melrose Avenue...another real street in hollywood but wouldnt be modeled directly after the street! Just thought the name was cool and would work well here.

-The first thing you see as you come down the Street is "The Old Five and Dime: Soda Pops" This would be a new quick Service resteraunt with themes waitresses and staff to the fifties. This is not a copy of DCA five and dime. Soda Pops is actually a resteraunt I visited in Eagle River, Wisconsin...I know I spend a lot of time in wisconsin! But it was so cool! It is themed to an old fifties diner type thing with and Ice cream parlor and Pretty Much any type of soda you can think of! Here is the website if you want to take a look at it and the history of the place

http://www.soda-pops.com/home.cfm

Then at Five and Dime you can eat and have fun with the family and every hour the staff will come out and Sing the song "down at the old Five and Dime" from reefer Madness. I know weird song choice from an odd musical BUT the song works and fits the theme. Just take a quick listen!

Then Rock Rollercoaster will get a whole NEW theme. The outside will be a new typ of Facade with different Architectures covering the plain show building! the Ride will still be centered around Rock but more of the classic 50's! rock n roll. The story is basically the same. We are invited into the "King" records company and are being hired to become an assistant backstage manager but Elivis has forgotten his guitar! It is our job to drive (very fast) through the Hollywood Hills, rockn to rock n roll songs by Elvis, Rick Nelson and many more. You arrive at the Band Stand where elvis Performs. (Like in Las Vegas...there will actually be a live show of an Elvis Impersonator) expanding the gift shop into a smaller theater to view the show at the end.

One new attraction I want in this is called "The Fabulous Fifties". It is a ride through everything achieved in the fifties and what was important and showing the lifestyle. It will take you through Music, Movies, Television, The Home of and American Family and also Important things that Happened. More like spaceship Earth speed but Inside a themed car!

A new Store I am planning on having in here is GImbles. Gimbles was a department store back in the day and this would sell themed merchandise and stuff like that.

Down the Street some more we have "At the Hop" a new building lurking in the back All lit up and Inviting. Its a Drinking/dancing station. Its set to an old sock hop and you can go in there and choose songs on the JukeBox and Dance with your family and freinds. Or sit back and watch others dance. 3 times a day there will be a sock hop competition that you can join to win special prizes!

Attatched to this building is the Sci-Fi theater. I decided to Move this Resteraunt because It fits well with the 50's theme and is all around cool! so I thought that would be a good idea and we can use that space for something else later. Also within this the 50's Prime Time would leave or be re-themed!

Well thats my Idea. I know its a lot and not too many attractions but I think it could work well! and be very fun and entertaining if you took the time to enjoy it! Hope you like it.

I didn't make the whole thing a movie studio but, just added a small area to celebrate Hollywood backlots.

It's is just like any other land at a Disney park however we're revealing the back of the facades. It is for the whole family, not an attraction just a free roaming area with things to do. I think the red car trolleys would fit, Hollywoodland in DCA is not that wide.

Nice idea, a land based on my favorite era! I also posted about a 50's rock n roller coaster once too :P

The only problem I have is, what does this have to do with the film industry? Like I get the land is based on Hollywood but surely it has to be Hollywood and movies.

Well the real hollywood studios weren't in sunset boulevard if you want to be true to the location.
You make it sound like there is one Hollywood studio?

-Nickelodeon on Sunset
-KCET
-KTLA
-Sunset Gower Studios
-Metromedia Square

All television and movie studios located on Sunset Boulevard.

Oh wow! I didn't know there were studios in there. And not all of them are in Sunset Boulevard. Many of them are in Burbank, and Glendale.

Major movie studios, the ones people actually care about are kind of spread out. There are really only a few major ones in Burbank (Disney, Animation, ABC and Warner Bros).
