My DHS

I don't really get the need to keep sunset boulevards name, it has nothing to do with any of the attractions in the area. The street also is related to the Hollywood theme, not the studios theme. If my version were to be done this area would be required to represent Hollywood.

Jim Henson did more than just Sesame Street. He did fraggle rock, Dinosaurs, Dark Crystal and so much more. When I said other Henson work in the area I was referring to a Jim Henson Creature Shop tour, revealing the tricks behind the trade.

Hyperion Studios is to focus on Walt's Early work. I wanted to bring him into this park because some of it would exist without him. This is sort of his journey after BVS. The area would have a similar layout to UK pavillion in Epcot. As guests enter they would see buildings that were either inspiring to Walt or helped shape his future (Kansas Slide Company, Plane Crazy Model Shop etc). At the back of the area will be a recreation of the original Disney studios. All of the attractions in this area will relate to everything up until Pinocchio. Everything in the Walt Disney Animation Studios relates to everything after that. They will both have very different looks. It is necessary to separate to make sure people appreciate what Walt did for them.

I hope I cleared up any critiques, if not please, debate!
1. If you call it Hollywood Boulevard, it wouldn't make any sense because it wouldn't have the stars of fame nor will it have the Chinese theaters or architecture of it.

2. I understand Henson made other things than Muppets and Sesame Street (I'm a big Muppet fan). But Disney only owns the rights to The Muppets. And besides a Disney Studios + Walt Animation area, I don't think there should be any behind the scenes tours.

3. I love the idea of Hyperion Studios and now I understand that it's about Walt. But I think that the WDAS area would need to go cause that's 3 animation areas (Pixar, Early Disney Legacy, Current Disney). Maybe you can make them both one area but with different atmospheres/time periods

correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure the show Dinosaurs...was disney??? or they do own some rights to that. It was such a great show! if they put those characters on a stage show at AK talking about the dinosaurs...it would be hilarious!

1. I never said I was naming it Hollywood Blvd. It will be Hollywood Studios. Sunset Boulevard resembles Hollywood better than anywhere in the park so it would be perfect.

2. No behind the scenes tours?!? That defeats the purpose of this entire park! When DHS opened it had about 3 different tours! I'm not sure what you want for DHS but as I said I am going for a more real studio feel with more "ride the movies" attractions. Disney wouldn't have to own the characters, maybe a sponsorship deal could be made.

3. I still prefer having the 3. All of them represent a completely different era of animation and I can't imagine Steamboat Willie next to The Little Mermaid. Keep in mind the areas are expanding into backstage so it will not be super congested like now.

Yeh you're right! Walt Disney Television produced the show. So even if the Jim Henson your was only a bit if muppets history, some behind the scenes look at how the muppets work, a set walk through of Dinosaurs with the puppets on display then a Jim Henson life story video. BAM! Instant classic :)

1. Ok we just have different opinions. I believe we can have both Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard without any name changes.

2. I was assuming that this was a change of theme in your park and more of an experience the movies, with a few tours.

3. I understand what you're coming from, and I'm growing on the idea.

I don't think you fully understand why I am changing the name. I also agree that both Hollywood Blvd and Sunset Blvd can continue to exist, however in my version of the park I don't even have Hollywood Blvd! I changed that to Buena Vista Street and the name change on Sunset Blvd was for 2 reasons...

1) To match the rest of the park's studio theme

2) To ensure the international guests and those not well aware of Hollywood culture could understand what this area is just by looking at the map

I am changing the format of this thread to a slight competition, no big winner in the end. I will let everybody post an idea for a land here (after I give a small challenge) and then will post them in a poll in another thread. I will post a thread with the first land after everybody has submitted theirs.

oh. wow i just realized that you added buena vista street. Sorry! Major miscommunication on my part. But even then I think Sunset Boulevard should keep it's name, cause if not you'd need to add all the stars on the sidewalk as well as the architecture is of the real Sunset Boulevard.

By the way, I don't know much about Buena Vista Street besides having Walt's young career there, but what if the Hyperion studio tour was inside Buena Vista Street? Does that make sense?

Also, what is the theme of your DHS?

LAND CHALLENGE 1:
The first land you must imagine is the entrance to DHS. Do you want to keep the exact same format of Hollywood Boulevard? Do you want to change some shops or the name? You can do what ever you want in this area except TWO things...The Chinese Theater Must Stay and The Big Cheesy Hat Has to Be Relocated Somewhere in DHS...

Oh yeah and in the end, I will combine all of the winning lands into one park. You all may submit your own drawings in a compilation finale thread if one (or more @WED99 ;) ) or more of your lands win.

Hollywood Studios could stay as Sunset Blvd anyway, I'm not trying to make it Hollywood Blvd. It just has to represent Hollywood which it does.

I like the idea but unfortunately BVS is based on when Walt first arrived in LA. It was a few years until he bought the Hyperion Studio.

The theme of my DHS is a tricky one. I want to celebrate films and the people who created them, but I want to also take guests into a real studio. So the enivronment of the park will have a more studio feel to it, the only movie themed lands here are "sets", but once you enter the attractions you are inside the movie! (with the exception of some backstage tours and Disney Studios Backlot area)

Wait, are you saying they would have a working studio again in your idea?

Ok but only if you put all the winning lands together like a jigsaw puzzle at the end :)

EDIT--Woops didn't see your post saying this, sorry :P

No, just make guests think we do ;)
I still think they should at least make animated movies, but I also love the idea of a working studio. It's just something different. Though I do understand why they had to stop. It's just not fit for Florida.

I felt it fit the title "My DHS" better as it is more personalized. :) Plus everyone's ideas convinced me...

WOW! I could not have said it better! I am all for the themed lands of Disney here however I want the park to Keep the Movie set feel as well! It needs more! I likke the idea of the sets as the outside making you feel like your entering the working picture and then your in it! and riding through the great movies! love it
