We go to Dunkin Donuts and buy a pound of coffee to make in the room.
Also like to Eat off property maybe Outback,TGI Fridays or Cracker Barrel.
Not a big fan of WDW Food.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan either. I get tired of chicken fingers and hot dogs. I could have eaten at the old farmers market at The Land every day. Big variety back then. I do however love the Chicken Curry at the ABC Commissary.

If you think Sonny's has the best BBQ, then you must make a stop at 4 Rivers the next time you're down here (either Winter Garden or Winter Park). Sonny's is okay - certainly nothing out of this world. 4 Rivers is absolutely amazing and well worth the trip. There's usually a good 30-60 minute line to get in almost every day, or you can go the quick route and do carry-out. I'm ashamed to admit how often we eat there...

Wow, I originally posted about Sonny's. We have a place at Grenelefe near Haines City and eat at Sonny's on Route 27. Is 4 Rivers near there

Not very close - it's about a 45+ minute drive from Haines City over to the Winter Garden location. I'd say it's worth it, but I realize when you're on vacation, you don't necessarily want to be driving all over the place just to eat BBQ. :)

Since you're over near Route 27 - may I suggest Manny's? I believe it's actually next door or a couple buildings away from Sonny's and it's an excellent locally-run steakhouse (in the same vein as Logan's, but in my humble opinion, much better). Manny's is also extremely popular - so be prepared to wait even if you do call-ahead seating.

:lookaroun if you think that Sonny's is the best BBQ on the planet then you must not have visited another BBQ restaurant. I agree that some of the items there are good, but if you seriously think it's the best in the world plan on stopping in Atlanta on your next trip down to WDW and I'll take you some places that will change your opinion real quick. I'm not saying the ones here are the best in the world as there are plenty of other places here in the south that are better, but they certainly blow Sonny's out of the water. To each there own though.

I would have to agree.(Sonny's is the last place I'd go for BBQ:shrug:)I find the best ones are independently owned mom and pop places.

My BBQ motto:

The smaller the place the better the BBQ. So if you see a shack on the side of the road with a hand painted BBQ sign, you had better stop as that will be melt in your mouth, delicious BBQ.

My biggest "must dos" outside of the 4 Disney parks are Busch Gardens in Tampa (only about an hour drive from WDW) and Sea World (about 10 minutes from WDW).

I am a huge fan of these parks, and prefer them over Universal. For thrills, Busch Gardens has Gwazi, which is the only wooden coaster in central Florida (and therefore my favorite). Gwazi is a fun, fast, long, aggressive, wild ride with plenty of airtime. Sheikra has the breathtaking 90 degree drop from 200 feet, and a second 90 degree drop from about 130 feet, and both drops also have nice airtime. And the brand new launched Cheetah Hunt looks fun (I haven't ridden yet).

The new Walkabout Way exhibit is AMAZING! You can pet and hand feed Kangaroos and Wallabies, and the Wallabies can actually walk on the same path as the humans, with no barriers! And the Critter Castaways show is a top notch animal show. The new Cirque show in the main theatre is nice, although I preferred KaTonga, which recently ended its run.

Although the theming isn't as immersive as AK and Rhino Rally isn't nearly as good as the AK Safari, between the nice selection of coasters, the animal exhibits, the shows, the train and skyride (both of which have nice views of the animals), this is still one of my favorite theme parks in the country (after Disney ;) ).

Sea World also has awesome animal exhibits and shows, including Pets Ahoy, which is the cutest animal show I've ever seen anywhere, and my favorite attraction in the park. The other shows, such as the Blue Horizons show featuring dolphins, are also very enjoyable. Wild Arctic is a fun simulator with an awesome post-show exhibit space with Beluga Whales, Polar Bears, and Walruses. And you can enjoy the animals in the PERFECT 62 degree air conditioning! (to simulate the Arctic atmosphere closer than a normal AC would).

Not being into looping coasters as much as drop/airtime oriented ones, I don't enjoy Sea World's coasters as much as Gwazi and Sheikra, or the WDW mountain range, but they are good for what they are.

Lastly, the benefits for Busch/Sea World Platinum 2-Year Annual Passholders are FANTASTIC! Besides free admission to EVERY Busch Gardens and Sea World park in the country, and their affiliated waterparks, you also get complimentary PREFFERED parking at each; discounts on food, beverages, and merchandise; reserved seats in a great row at most of the major shows (meaning you can walk in right before they start and get a great seat); and, perhaps best of all, you get 1 re-ride on most of the major coasters (and the Wild Arctic simulator) at both Florida parks each time you wait in the queue! All you have to do is show them your pass after your first ride, and stay seated for your second!

I'm gettin a kick out of how people put Dunkin Donuts as a must-do, when up here you can't drive a mile without passing one. We always opt for Krispy Kremes when we go down there (although their coffee is awful!). :D

Being from Maine, I hear ya on this one!! DD can't hold a candle to KK's donuts though I do love DD's iced coffee!! But there are DD's all over the place (I actually went there this AM!! lol)

When we were younger, we ALWAYS had to do at least one dinner at Duff's on 192. It's not there anymore and hasn't been for quite sometime but we loved it, even though it was a standard buffet. We also used to do Circus World / Boardwalk and Baseball and The Mystery Fun House!! So sad to see those gone....

Also, we always do Uni/IOA since we usually go every other year. WE're going again in November (just for a long weekend, Disney only) and then again next spring and rather than Uni/IOA, we're going to do Discovery Cove. Something new for us!! :sohappy:

Oh and we always have to get Krispy Kreme donuts!!! :slurp:

Um...don't know how much this really counts but we usually stop at the Kennedy Space Center store at the airport on the way home to get something for my dad (LOVES Nasa) and we always eat at Burger King in the airport before we board our flight back to Pittsburgh.

We never leave Disney property so the airport is really the only time we spent "outside" of Disney World.

I was thinking the same thing! I'm in RI too and when I first ready that I thought, "I just drove by at least 8 of them driving into work this morning."

Other Things

There's a wonderful little park "Dr Phillips Park" a few miles on Apopka-Vining (it's changes to 535 towards Disney) that great. It has walking trails, grills, water park for kids. You can get a lunch from Winn Dixie or Publix and have a nice time for nothing.

We usually hit both the Orlando Premier Outlets and the Prime Outlets. We usually hit the Lake Buena vista outlets too. Lately we've made a habit of getting Krispy Kreme donuts near Mall at Millenia and we always have to drive up and down International drive. It's kinda cheesy but it's colorful and I like it. And definitely Universal if time and money allows.

We always do either lunch or dinner at Fulton's Crab House. We also try to get over to the Renaissance Hotel at Sea World for their Bree and tomato grilled cheese sandwich.

US/IOA are our only "must do's" outside of WDW every trip.

We've gone to Kennedy Space Center and Sea World and really enjoyed both, but they're not something we felt compelled to do on repeat trips. I hope we can spend a day at Discovery Cove next time. I doubt it will become a part of every trip, but I'd love to get there at least once.

The indoor skydiving place right next to Uni.

It's a BLAST, and you don't have to have experience. There's a little class beforehand. By the end of your first try, you usually have it going pretty well.

It's as close as you can get to it without actually jumping out of a plane!
