Must do.... outside of WDW

Ok seriously I do go to Hooters for the food, I really couldn't care less if a guy with a beer gut and a hairy face served me as long as I can eat those delicious wings.

FOR REAL... I am same way..I love their wings and great fish sandwich... I am not like those guys who go there and think, they are going to score with a Hooters girl...

And if a Hooters girl would go after me, then Hooters must have lowered their standards....

:D

Guys, we both enjoy the food there too (though my wife gains nothing from the scantily clad ladies). My favourite is the pulled pork sandwich :slurp:

I'm gettin a kick out of how people put Dunkin Donuts as a must-do, when up here you can't drive a mile without passing one. We always opt for Krispy Kremes when we go down there (although their coffee is awful!). :D

My MIL insists on us bring back orange jelly from a store a few miles away from Disney. I don't remember the name of the store but it's the place that looks like a giant orange. We normally run in and out as fast as possible because as soon as we leave Disney property it's an entirely different world (and we prefer our pretend perfect Disney World)

I believe it's called Orange World on 192. We used to always stop there and ship home a bag of oranges.

As preferred Offsite guests, we like stopping at Steak and Shake for milkshakes, Publix for sodas and snacks and Old Town. Never been to Universal or Sea World as we've always spent our time in the Disney parks.

We always go to the Premium Outlets and the Mall of Millenia to look at the lovely shops and have lunch at the Cheesecake Factory - we love it

Always visit Sea World

And as a Brit I have to go to a supermarket, sad I know but I love to cook and there are just some things I cannot buy in the UK, plus in the UK the packs of Chocolate Chips are tiny so I always stock up on those, including Butterscotch and Peanut Butter ones!

And I stock up on Clinique SO much cheaper then in the UK!

- Universal Studios
- Islands of Adventure
- Sea World

These are the parks a person should also go to permitting they have 2 weeks in Orlando. Definitely a must do sometime in your life if not multiple times.

For me personally I always do...........
- Dinner at Cracker Barrel. We don't have them in Canada
- Dinner at the Golden Corral (none in Canada)
- Dinner at Friendly's (none in Canada, never go to the States without going to one)
- Sometimes do Gatorland
- Sometimes do Busch Gardens

And before it closed our family always, always did Water Mania and Mystery Fun House. I loved those attractions. Never understood how they went out of business.

I know it's not out of Disney (well it's not in the parks) but I always buy a box of big pieces of fudge from the candy shop at DTD, 20% discount for 6 pieces. They're so rich they last me about a week, I'm drooling just thinking about the peanut butter flavour right now :slurp:

We always try to visit one or two attractions outside of Disney every trip. We've gone to Medieval times twice, the show and food was excellent. We saw Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede when it was playing. We visited Kennedy space Center which was enjoyable but at the time needed more to see and do for the price of the tour. I was pleasantly surprised when we went to see TItanic, The Exhibition. It was very informative and well worth the time. Ripleys Believe it or not was fun seeing the strange exhibits. We went several times to the Murder Mystery dinner show at The Grosvners which is just outside of DTD. The actors were very professional, put on an excellent show. My son once solved the murder and the end puzzle and won a handcuff watch for a prize!!! We also have visited Discovery Cove, Universal Studios/ Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld. There are a lot of other things I want to do on future trips, there's so many attractions in and around the Orlando area, it's just finding the time to fit them in.

We don't really have a must do. But, after a week of theme park food, we ventured into Kissimmee for a "real" dinner. The first restaurant off Disney Property is none other than a Logan's Roadhouse. After eating theme park food for a solid week, the steaks we had tasted sooooooooo good. And, my bill was 35 bucks for 2 steaks (ribeyes) and a kids meal. So, we were very excited to get back onto Disney property, but that non-theme park dinner was a nice little venture outside of the Magic Kingdom. (We were on the Dining Plan, too.)

OMG....I forgot about Sonnys....the best BBQ on this planet..There is none here in Indiana... I actually drove 4 hours to Kentucky to get Sonnys..

:lookaroun if you think that Sonny's is the best BBQ on the planet then you must not have visited another BBQ restaurant. I agree that some of the items there are good, but if you seriously think it's the best in the world plan on stopping in Atlanta on your next trip down to WDW and I'll take you some places that will change your opinion real quick. I'm not saying the ones here are the best in the world as there are plenty of other places here in the south that are better, but they certainly blow Sonny's out of the water. To each there own though.

What are some of your "Must-Do's" when you go to WDW that are outside of the parks???

For instance...

Mine are...

-Drive through Celebration- Stop by Team Disney and Casting...(Technically in WDW)
- eat at the Sizzler and get Malibu Chicken......
- get a sub from Publix

Yours????

I've never done that, but I want to.

If you think Sonny's has the best BBQ, then you must make a stop at 4 Rivers the next time you're down here (either Winter Garden or Winter Park). Sonny's is okay - certainly nothing out of this world. 4 Rivers is absolutely amazing and well worth the trip. There's usually a good 30-60 minute line to get in almost every day, or you can go the quick route and do carry-out. I'm ashamed to admit how often we eat there...

Figment82 - Funny both of our posts were back to back, but I'm glad someone else feels the same way. I'll be back in the Orlando area for work in a couple of weeks and will be sure to try 4 Rivers when I'm up in the Winter Park area. I've been looking for a good bbq place for well over a year now but haven't seen any while driving around. If you have any other recommendations let me know, are there any near WDW that I should try? That's usually where I stay. Thanks!

A must do is to check if there is a launch at Cape Canavaral. I've seen a nighttime launch once, it was great. I wouldn't mind seeing a daytime launch too some day.

If I had the luxury to go every year, I'd alternate tickets to the two Universal parks one year with the Sea World / Busch Gardens / possibly Discovery Cove the next.

Mystery Fun House. I loved those attractions. Never understood how they went out of business.
Now there's a blast from the past!

I loved loved loved the MFH. Can't believe it didn't do brilliant business either. As a kid, it was just a perfect one and half hour spend.
I bet you too miss Circus World / Boardwalk and Baseball. :sohappy:

Steak N Shake is always my priority while in the state of Florida. Closest one to me is in Las Vegas (5 hours away). When I lived on the east coast I would regularly drive 3 hours to either Raleigh or Myrtle Beach just for some Steak N Shake. Their cheese fries are my absolute favorite food on the entire planet. If I had to choose between Steak N Shake cheese fries and a visit to the Magic Kingdom, Steak N Shake would win hands down.

Also since leaving North Carolina, I look forward to some Golden Corral while in Florida. Used to eat there almost every week in NC, and I'm having seriously withdrawals.
