The Lighthouse's Tale by Nickel Creek
It's kinda hard to catch in the first song, but the girl kills herself. However, in the second song, it straight out says what happens to the people: "And then the next day, my keeper found her washed up on the shore. He kissed her cold face, that they'd be together soon he swore. I say him crying, watched as he buried her in the sand. And then he climbed my tower, and off the edge of me her ran."
Now im sad. hehe

Absolutely wonderful and depressing song!! One of my very favorites.
Of course almost all Radiohead just screams "Jump off a cliff" but I still love it love it love it!

"Candle on the Water" from Pete's Dragon always makes me sad for some reason

Depressing songs are not all a mere lack of happiness and sunshine. You've got some really dark, depressing songs out there, too. You've got:
- Stalkers (such as "Every Breath You Take", The Police)
- Obsessives ("I'm Not in Love", 10CC)
- Suicidal maniacs ("Fade to Black", Metallica)
- Homicidal-suicidal maniacs ("Don't Fear the Reaper", Blue Oyster Cult).
