Spice Road is still open. They use the QS all the time during the festivals that happen literally all year long. Honestly with how little representation we have from non Euro cultures I'm shocked people want to boot it so fast.
By that logic we should bulldoze Norway, Japan, France all of which have their signature restaurants empty (Akershus, Monsieur Paul, Takumi Tei.
I think it’s partially that exact reason people want it gone since it’s so detached from Euooean cultures people gravitate less towards it given their lack of exposure. A shame cause Morocco is one of m, if not is, the most beautiful pavilions in the showcase.
I think “could” and “should” are two different things. I disagree that there’s much difference architecturally between structures in southern Spain like the Alhambra and those showcased in the Morocco pavilion. The same peoples were building those things concurrently. Similarly, there are explicitly French examples of architecture in central and northern Spain, like the Royal Palace at La Granja. And then there are distinctly Spanish architectural inventions too, either as novel amalgamations of other styles or as easily identifiable personal styles, like that of Gaudí.

Yes. I for one would care very much. The fact that this conversation is even happening is already a cause for concern.
We went into the "Appleseed orchard" last night and there was a definite smell in that place.. I had covid a few weeks ago and Im still waiting for my sense of smell to return and even I noticed it.
Still baffling to me. We don't even have the cultural reps back yet. A few countries are barren in similar ways, and yet no one talks about converting them.
Is it me or is most of World Showcase left to rot unless it has a ride or like Japan a really unique gift shop?
Everyone’s just too scared to be the one to approve the budget and/or lose out on the income of shutting down a revenue center. Le Cellier hasn’t had a proper refurb since 1997. They just keep trying to patch it up. The hotel/former merchandise location keeps getting passed around to different lines of business that don’t want to/have the funds to do anything with it. All that adds up to a building that’s about to self destruct.

My husband really noticed the lack of shops open this trip. We may not buy a lot, but we enjoy that in WS. A lot is still missing in so many areas. I definitely want more to see but I assume they make more selling food and drinks...I totally think Italy needs a revamp. It's nothing but shops and restaurants!
