News Morocco Pavilion redevelopment

At somepoint all the pavilions will be fully "Disneyfied" with characters and rides as that fits what Disney is today. If their isn't a movie set in that country then that can be fixed over time so a new movie is set in that place then it can be shoehorned into the pavillion. They are no longer cultural attractions they are pavilions awaiting "plussing"

The Florida Blue Lounge has found a new home at Marrakesh, beginning September 3rd -

"The Florida Blue Lounge is returning to EPCOT on September 3rd, 2022 for its second year at the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival. It will be in a new location – Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco – and will offer lighter refreshments than when it was in the Norway pavilion last year. The emphasis will be on the experiences within the lounge. We were invited by Disney to the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival yesterday and inside Restaurant Marrakesh to learn more about the upcoming lounge."

"But now the Florida Blue Lounge – which I was told would be open to everyone, but still with reservations – will have activities like getting a henna tattoo. The hours will be noon – 6 p.m. daily."

"A limited number of reserved seats will also be available for the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, which is a terrific perk."

Ok this is indefensible.

Southeast Asian pavilion featuring multiple countries spreading from the China pavilion through the never-built Africa pavilion...a grouping of mini villages each representing the different cultures. Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore both sides of the walkway spreading down to a boat village on the lake edge...Something like that...

And you don’t think the asymmetry between such a pavilion and the multiple single-nation pavilions representing Western Europe would be an issue?

I can see how this could be seen as western imperialism but equatorial Africa and norway (Scandinavia) were both originally intended to be multi national showcases.
I actually think having regional areas rather than national pavilions is a great way to go (and one that should have been done from the get go like the four corners of the world from westcot). Having areas like this would allow for smaller nations who couldn’t afford a standalone pavilion to participate and bring much needed diversity to the showcase.
The Milan expo did a similar thing when I visited in 2015. As well as the large national showcases there were smaller combined areas where smaller and less wealthier nations could have smaller exhibits. It worked really well

But I’m talking about World Showcase as it’s currently constituted. In that context, lumping together a group of major Southeast Asian nations (Thailand and Vietnam are hardly small, while Singapore is a major global player) would only reinforce Europe’s outsize predominance at World Showcase. It bears recalling that a full five of the eleven represented countries are European. Let’s not add insult to injury by shoehorning whole regions of the (non-Western) world into overstretched conglomerate pavilions.

I see the multinational area pavilions as a way to increase the presence of more cultures within the framework of the World Showcase...If each of the larger original pavilions had an actual ride/attraction, then the multinational pavilions could just be about cultural arts, shops and dining.

well, cramming a few nations in space that is vacant...or thinking about it as including these cultures that are not represented at all...I think some representation is better than no representation at all except for a Food and Wine kiosk. The park was designed and built when it was...there is no way of completely changing the framework... so add in where there is space...

But why not just follow the existing model and add single-nation pavilions? A Thai pavilion (for example) would be far preferable to a composite Southeast Asian one.

I agree completely...but the expansion areas around the lake are continuing to shrink with the addition of the newer attractions etc... Rather than the African Coca Cola Outpost which is a complete waste of the property, sharing a border with the China Pavilion, a southeast Asian area would allow for more than one nation/culture to represent. Would I rather have single nations represent? Absolutely... But I was thinking about what could fit in the current framework...

How about a Greek Pavilion there are many historic Greek structures that can serve as models for a pavilion?
Egypt doesn’t really require any changes to Morocco. Just change the minaret from Marrakesh to an obelisk, make the Fez Gate to an Egyptian Temple Gate, make Spice Road into an Egyptian place, add an Egyptian attraction, and sell Egyptian things.

Well, technically, the UK Pavilion is a regional pavilion. Especially with talk about Scotland rumbling about exiting the union.

This would be like saying the Italian pavilion could easily be switched up to Ireland. You’re dealing with opposite ends of North Africa and with very different architectural traditions.
