Jim Hill mention's that the Monsters, Inc. coaster set for DHS "could finally be coming off WDI’s drawing board in the not-so-distant future."

I believe this is exactly what DHS needs....more rides!! The idea for the coaster sounds great and In addition to Star Tours 2.0 it looks as though things are looking up for DHS. Be nice to see TSM level out too.

i think it would be great, but I am not holding my breathe. Though if it were man it would be sweet! Excited. I agree I think DHS needs something besides TSM to liven the place up a bit.

It's been "off" the drawing boards and was actually being planned at one time but I think it's been tabled for now. A friend of mine works for Barton Malow in the Detroit area and was on the team that was working with Disney Imagineers.

Like so many other things it`s been on, off, on, off....

TSMMs popularity and the lacklustre response to Idol may be in its favour.

Just from reading the past few Unofficial Guides, it seems that Jim Hill is not always right. I remember a few years ago, he said Space Mountain would soon be under going a major rehab and that it would be renamed "Rock It Mountain".

Not saying he is wrong about this, I've just learned to not 100% believe what he says.

Where would it go? Back in the Pixar area near TSMM would make most sence, but would they put another new big attraction right with it?

Yup, that's exactly where it'd go. Currently, next to TSMM, you'll see a building marked "Hot Set: We're preparing our next presentation". That's the building where MI will go.

Heading for the great escape.
You are 100% correct since I've seen a giant airborne porcine at a Pink Floyd concert about 20 years ago and I've never seen a MI coaster.

I had a similar experince two years ago at a Roger waters show, poor beast is now graffiti covered, much like the toy story Q

Jim Hill, the anti-Al Lutz.....

Add me to the list of those who think the porcines will migrate south or we'll have a bovine high-jump contest involving the moon before the Monsters coaster.....

Actually, it's quite possible.
A substantial amount of prep work has been done (some fairly recently) for the ride, and the project is currently in a state where it could move ahead very quickly at the first sign of a green light.

As Martin said, two things are working in it's favor:
- Idol hasn't drawn crowds to the park. Mangement had hoped that guests would make a special trip to DHS for Idol, but that really hasn't happened. It started qute well, but has begun to fizzle a bit, I'm told.
- TSMM is a huge hit. Wait times have been far higher than anticipated, and the solution they keep returning to is to expand Pixar Place sooner rather than later. MI being the first step, then the Backlot Tour making way for further expansion.

Count me as thinking it's getting more likely by the week.

Sounds awesome, and a lot like what someone told me last week about Monsters gaining steam. Exciting, and definitely needed. DHS will defintely have a lot to spread the crowds around with ToT, RNRC, Star Tours II, TSMM, and hopefully Monsters.

Count me excited to hear Idol is failing as well...:lookaroun

And Lee, your argument is quite concrete. Hope it's true.

I don't actually doubt this particular rumor. I've learned that on the whole, many of the rumors (that are at least someone legitimate, not like fifth gate or anything like that) have a general basis in truth. I've also learned that things change though, so while I would love it see it come (I'd rather have an Incredibles ride but that's a different story) I'm also not holding my breath.

The Location baffles me though. (Not THAT they are putting in a new major ride there, but WHY they are putting a new major ride there) I can see it replacing the Hot Set building (Any coaster would be much too large for that building alone). The park is already so uneven with TSM, Tower, Rockin, and F! all on the right side of that park. Star Tours may balence it somehow, but they really need a marketable new attraction somewhere on the left side of that park (LMA is much too big of a fail, IMO to count as that) I would hoping that Pixar could take over the Entire Back of the Park, Cars taking over LSM, (That's LMA not Linear Syncronous Moters, Gotta love all these acronyms, thanks RAXIP! I actually made a lot of mistakes in this post) Incredibles/Monsters/Cars Rides taking over Backlot Area, Bugs Life playground, and then A ratatouille restaurant, and maybe something else replacing the backlot theatre.

Oh well.
What dreams may come.
