Wanted to share this from Pop Century's wreath decorating contest. Most likely inspired by recent events.
Neither company wants to pay for a ton of animatronics & a good dark ride is usually full of them. Both companies have become focused on having 1 or 2 showstopper animatronics: that's easier to not seem lackluster (Hi, Na'vi River) if it's a part of a thrill ride (Hagrid's for example).Agreed but for some reason neither Universal or Disney seems interested in making those type of attractions much anymore. I also think your average guest isn't interested in them anymore either. If you look, most new attractions are either coasters or have some physical thrill to them. Even Remy has some thrill to it.
all valid points, but after being there today and seeing the animation courtyard buildings in decay,,,talk about ugly ghetto falling apart facades on launchbay/animation building....this whole area is deplorable and ugly, in rotting let go shape. Something needs to be done sooner not later.Ok, I’ve settled down on this after a while of mourning: this was going to happen eventually. Even if they used Animation courtyard and other expansion spots first, with how Disney is, of course they would want to get rid of grand avenue, with underperforming shops and restaurants, and retheme it to something else. I think muppetvision could've had a longer life, say if it was at a park like Epcot or magic kingdom, but it was unfortunately at the WORST park for rides sticking around long term, DHS, in a terrible long term space. I think this is honestly one of the best case scenario’s realistically. Muppetvision’s replacement actually expands capacity and brings us one of the most lamented “What If’s” of all time, and finally brings HarryHausens to life. We also get Muppets RNRC, which means a new dedicated muppets shop for merch, keeping muppets at WDW and DHS in a permanent spot, and saving HOP (for now). And potentially MORE muppets stuff at wdw if what some insiders are saying is to be believed and happens, as well as potential muppetvision preservation, and with some murmurs from cm’s with the store reopening, a final hurrah for muppetvision in the cards. I know this isnt what we wanted, but if we have to lose muppetvision, i think this is one of the best outcomes we could’ve gotten.
I agree. Unfortunately the cards did not fall in the right place, but it sounds like it’ll be happening sooner rather than later. Such a massive shame. It’s the Epcot classic scenario, where they pick the worst possible things to do last (See Universe of energy outliving other better classic Epcot defunct stuff).all valid points, but after being there today and seeing the animation courtyard buildings in decay,,,talk about ugly ghetto falling apart facades on launchbay/animation building....this whole area is deplorable and ugly, in rotting let go shape. I personally think MV was on borrowed time in the company's eyes, Monsters Inc or no Monsters Inc.I agree. Part of me wanted to believe muppetvison would live long term, but I knew this was gonna happen eventually. Disney is being cowardly in the manner of closing it though. Feel somewhat at peace with it though.
I guess we would have to define our term borrowed time.I personally think MV was on borrowed time in the company's eyes, Monsters Inc or no Monsters Inc.
Would this make Sesame Place a Disney Park? I would finally have a Disney Park within driving distance of my house.Soooo....Would Disney even think of going for it or is this going to just get moved to Apple + like The Fraggles?

Then they would have to purchase the sea world parks or just remove them and keep Sesame place...Would this make Sesame Place a Disney Park? I would finally have a Disney Park within driving distance of my house.
Disney potentially getting the streaming rights to Sesame Street and starting to incorporate them into their brand and potentially parks right after the possibility of turning Grand Avenue into “muppets and Sesame Street shared land” would be a very cruel joke by the theme park gods.Soooo....Would Disney even think of going for it or is this going to just get moved to Apple + like The Fraggles?

No, because Warner Bros. Discovery doesn’t own Sesame Workshop and had nothing to do with Sesame Place. It was just a content and production deal.Would this make Sesame Place a Disney Park? I would finally have a Disney Park within driving distance of my house.
Disney streaming has that demographic locked down with Bluey.I think Disney would want to own the entire IP.
But maybe the streaming rights are worth it to prevent a competitor from getting them.
Sesame Place is not just an operating license, it is owned by United Parks. They’d still own the park in Pennsylvania and the water park in California if they ever lost the license.United Parks & Resorts (formerly SeaWorld Entertainment) owns the license to run Sesame Place.
Sesame Street never left PBS.Honestly for its own sake I wish it back to PBS.
It is on PBS on a second run IIRC. Also, PBS will likely not exist by 2028.Uni has the rights to use property for parks overseas.
As do others elsewhere.
But maybe not a bad idea for Peacock. Universal Kids branding could benefit.
Honestly for its own sake I wish it back to PBS.
Yes. Sadly the deal was they could air an episode one year after HBO Max did. It killed a lot of the style of the show that shifted. Very different format vs the way the segment and human interaction was for decades. It is on PBS on a second run IIRC. Also, PBS will likely not exist by 2028.
