News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Planning an adult-only coaster and reimagining the Muppets into an adult rides children can't enjoy. Why not lean into the magic that works for families? Fantasyland has consistently been one of the most popular lands for family experiences. This could be an opportunity for Disney to replicate that success by expanding the Muppets area into a second Fantasyland—while keeping the much-loved MuppetVision 3D and adding a dark ride for them.

Imagine transforming the nearby parking lot and incorporating the former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser entrance into a brand-new "Fantasyland 2," featuring a variety of family-friendly attractions built around multiple Disney IPs. The expansion could include:

1. Wreck-It Ralph: A gamified adventure perfect for all ages.
2. Rapunzel: A magical boat ride through her story.
3. Alice in Wonderland: A whimsical, tea-party-inspired dark ride.
4. The Emperor's New Groove: A hilarious coaster with Kuzco and Kronk.
5. Muppets Ride: A family-friendly dark ride continuing the Muppets' charm.
6. Wall-E: A futuristic space adventure with Wall-E and Eve.
7. Hercules: A heroic journey through Greek mythology.
8. Cinderella: An enchanting journey to the ball.
9. Sleeping Beauty: A dreamy dark ride with Aurora’s tale.
10. Stitch Ride: A fun, chaotic adventure with Stitch.
11. Disney Junior Interactive Ride: Using AI, characters interact with you in real-time and even turn around for a selfie—like a ride-through meet-and-greet.
12. Carsland. Copy of the whole Disneyland ride area
    

With 10-12 attractions, this second Fantasyland could be the ultimate destination for families, celebrating both classic and modern Disney favorites. It would preserve and enhance the Muppets’ presence while expanding their family appeal.

I am an adult in his 40s and have much less tolerance or appetite for coasters than I did as a child! I’m not sure why some in this forum are so fond of pushing the idea that kids don’t like thrill rides.

Monsters coaster will be a kiddy coaster?

Pages back I think the speculation was the height requirement would be somewhere between 38 inches and 40. The only rides at WDW over 40 are Space, Tron, Guardians, RNRC, FOP and EE. The door coaster won‘t have inversions so that makes it lower. Cosmic Rewind is 42in and I definitely would not call it a kiddie coaster. ToT is 40in and that’s also not a kiddie ride IMHO. I guess it depends on everyones definition.

I think the average 4 year old is around 40 inches so most kids will qualify for this ride by age 6 if not sooner. It‘s not supposed to be an adults only coaster but also not for infants and smaller toddlers.

I hear ya there. I did Cosmic Rewind on our last trip. It was a rough go for me. Once was plenty. My kids would have road it over and over if not for the virtual queue. They did get a few runs in since we were in EPCOT multiple days.

I do think Disney’s move towards coasters (Tron, Guardians, and now Monsters) is short lived. I am looking forward to seeing what Encanto is all about, cars is not a coaster and I really hope that the main villains ride is an epic dark ride or maybe even a water ride.

There are definitely coaster tracks in the concept art but there are 2 rides so I am holding out hope that one is an epic dark ride and the other a coaster. There is a lot of good storytelling with the concept of Villians so it would be a shame to waste that with a ride where you pass by everything at high speed.

I’m really hoping the villains coaster is like Hagrid’s at uo which to me is still able to convey the story with the animatronics and theming

It may still be family friendly (to the extent it shouldn’t be scary or very intense) but it definitely will have a height limit. Rides like Mine Train and Barnstormer are family friendly rides with height limits. You can’t bring an infant or a toddler on but outside of that the whole family can ride together. The height limit is only for safety. My kids were always tall for their age so when my son was 3 or 4 he made the limit for dinosaur. He loved dinosaurs and I wasn’t thinking about how intense the ride is and frightening so I took him on. He was not a fan and it cost me a small fortune in the gift shop to make up for it

I don't think it's going to be short lived in regards to coasters. You will get your rides like Cars and Encanto but coasters will still be a major thing.
They look at how well they draw at Universal and your average Disney guest seem to like them.

I agree they will still be adding new coasters but 2 of the last 3 major rides to open at WDW were coasters. I don’t see them keeping up a pace of 2/3 of new rides being coasters. They will definitely add some (monsters and likely villians for example) but not at the same pace. I don’t think Disney has any desire to compete with Universal or Sea World for coaster dominance. They do just fine with their current mix for the demographic they are targeting. Most hard core coaster enthusiasts wouldn’t rate WDW particularly high for coasters. As long as they continue to refuse to have fully exposed tracks it makes It harder to compete.

I would be pretty surprised if they built something like that but anything is possible. I think something like Hagrids is more likely with multiple launches that allows the ride to slow for show scenes. Who knows.

This just seems like an unrelated hodge podge of IP rides with nothing in common and very vague ride systems.
