They don’t actually give it to Disney for free. This is a misconception.
Have you seen the contract?

Often a sponsorship includes certain things for free. Maybe it’s just the syrup. Maybe it’s the machines and maintenance. Maybe it’s the cups and lids. But it’s usually something.
They don't get it for free, but they do get it at a large discount due to the agreement to only sell Coke products in the parks.

The reason I know this is because the movie theater I worked at has the same agreement. Coke is in that same agreement with multiple businesses. The difference with Disney, and the reason their particular agreement is so complex, is the fact that they're also in bed with each other on branding and tie-ins which is not a factor in most of the other relationships Coke has with massive corporations. I would not be surprised if that factor of their relationship means Disney gets an even larger discount than other businesses.

But they do indeed pay for it. Coke is notorious for their bean counting, maybe even more so than Disney is.

The Commissary was always the worst food in the park... Glad to hear that it is getting better....
Having worked in the park for 4 years and visited as a guest nearly 100 times, it's the one QSR I've never eaten in. I never could understand the appeal other than the Amazing Air Conditioning.

Free enough not to charge $6.50 for a bottle of Dasani... Or $20 for a refill mug that's only refillable in a resort where it's costing the company pennies on the dollar to maintain. The 1000% markup on fountain drinks is probably their 2nd biggest money maker under Genie (this is semi-sarcasm, I have no financial reports to back this up)....

Years ago I got a free water cup at the boardwalk candy shop (the one the magic bar replaced) and then went and got a refill at the bakery. I totally forgot that I got that cup for free and filled it with iced tea or something like that.

I felt a little guilty. But just a little haha.

They might as well put it where the Monstahs are because they screwed up that area. It would have been much better if they kept the New York theming. It no longer makes sense at all.

I think the Shanghai pirates ride system is more likely to be destined for Moana at MK.

I wonder if one of the reasons Moana got pulled from D23 2024 was due to capacity concerns if they went with the patent for the ride system that looked like her ship, so it went back to the drawing board. Remember Disney canned the original Quinjet Avengers E ticket due to capacity issues as well.

If this is true, I wish Bob was more passionate about drilling a capacity mandate at WDI, versus an IP mandate. Imagineering knows they need to move tens of thousands of folks per day - the desire for story and immersion cannot supersede this simple operational fact.

I wonder if we are going to get s late Friday announcement telling us where Monsters is going?

If Iger was smart he would announce late on election night as no one would notice.

At this point I don't think we're gonna get anything about it until D23 Brazil. They said it's gonna include some stuff about the parks, so that to me says elaboration on stuff already announced.
If Monsters goes into AC, it will probably buy Muppets at least a few more years. If Muppets goes for something else, you could probably lump that and Star Tours + Indy for a very large area or two.

At the risk of scouring 259 pages, is there spades in the ground for this attraction or was it just classic nonsense from Josh ?
Someone correct me, but it was not announced where it was to go yet.
Many experts in this site say Monsters will go in the Animation courtyard, but it could replace Muppets.
Someone correct me, but I think NO dirt has moved for this yet.

I saw on Twitter where an area of Animation Courtyard is walled off. Is this related?

Construction likely won't start until the 2nd half of 2025. We are still waiting on where it's going, potentially to be announced at D23 Brazil in less than 2 weeks.

Unrelated to Monsters, Inc. Land. This is for The Little Mermaid.
