Noticed we will be there when this starts in late sept and was wondering is it really worth the extra money to go to this seems kinda expensive if you've already have a paid admission. Please let me know what you all think about. thanks for your time, John:hammer::hammer:

I have not been to this yet but I think it would be fun. When we were down there last Oct we saw it getting started. It looked like a ton of people were there but that was looking from out side of the park at the entrance. Everyone was dressed up, even the adults. We had a few characters eat with us at the Grand Floridian. I think the father was the Hulk. It was funny.

I have read several reviews about it and I have not seen a bad one yet. I know it's extra money but, it would make the trip a little more special.:animwink:

I thought it was very worth it. I would not doing every year, but it definitely is worth going to. We go to go on tons of rides with no wait, the parade was adorable, all the candy and decorations were amazing, and the fireworks were great. The best part for us was adult trick or treating...so fun!

We did the Christmas party this past year, and though we liked it and had fun, I don't think we would spend the extra money for it again. However, I have heard good things about the halloween party, and we are going down in Oct. and plan to go. My husband keeps asking me if I really want to spend the money on it, when we felt the Christmas party wasn't really worth it. And now I too am second guessing it, but I feel it is something we haven't done, so maybe we should. Can anyone tell me if the party is similar to the christmas party.Don't get me wrong, we had fun at the party and I did enjoy seeing the special parade and fireworks, but do I want to spend an extra $40 per person to see that. Are there a lot of characters that you don't usually see out? I found at the Christmas party it wasn't all that different. Just a few. Our schedual is kind of busier than what I usually like, and I am torn between freeing up a night, or going to the party.

I prefer the Halloween party over the Christmas party. The Halloween party has the characters dressed in costumes - like last year Mickey was a Scarecrow and Minnie was a princess. There are places to go Trick-or-Treating and the adults get candy too - in fact they searched for my bag when I didn't want any. There are dance parties all over and Merlin has a show (haven't seen it). Along the parade route they have had singers dressed up in Wild West costumes that showed how they died (arrow in the back - gun hole here). We had a great time joking around with them. They also had extra Goofy Candy Company "Workers" handing out more candy along the parade route. Haunted Mansion is awesome! We also get reservations around 4:30 at Liberty Tree Tavern where the characters are dressed up as well - One had a spider web on his head - think it was Pluto. There are special photo opportunites that they changed last year to a discount instead of the free photo. They have the 360 degree fireworks which is incredible to see. This will be our 5th time going and I highly suggest it. I have not dressed up for the parties, mostly because it is too warm for the costumes I pick. Last year it was actually cold and I would have been ok, but I did not bring mine. I would suggest you go at least once - and don't forget if you don't want to use admission for that day, you can use your Halloween ticket to get in the park at 4:00. That's 3 extra hours to the 7-12 that they don't advertise.

Wow--I figured I would be the first and only one with a less than glowing recommendation for the Halloween party.

We went last year and while it was OK, it didn't knock my socks off, and I don't think we would do it again. I would much rather spend the $120 on something else.

It is cool to get your wristband and feel like part of an "elite" group--especially when everyone else has to leave.

My DH is more into fireworks and parades than I am (I look at them as an excuse to get into shorter ride lines), so we did both.

The parade WAS fun and impressive. Who wouldn't like the gravediggers dragging shovels along the pavement and making sparks? Fortunately, we were able to stake out a decent spot and didn't have to wait too long.

I'm just not a fireworks person. They were amazing, but I don't like standing in one place waiting for 30 minutes or so, then standing for the show. I would much rather have been moving that whole time.

I have not been to the Christmas party, so I can't compare the two. However, I do think that it is the same basic party.

Next time, I would take that evening to do a nice dinner, maybe an evening at Jellyrolls or the Improv, take a night swim, or just relax and get to bed early for EMH the next morning.

We loved it! This past year was our first time. We go early September each year and have never had the opportunity.

We are planning to go again this, and hope they continue to offer it at the beginning of the month.

It felt great to get to go Trick-or-Treating as an adult (both of us in our 40's).

We went to MNSSHP last year. We heavily debated on whether or not it was worth the extra $ since we were already staying onsite and could go for EMH. We finally decided to go and loved it! WE had such a good time trick-or-treating. The fireworks were awesome and the parade was great! The headless horseman was so great. We dressed up in our costumes and we still talk about how much fun we had that night. It is something that not everyone gets to participate in at Disney, since it is only offered during such a short time period.

You are already spending a fortune to go to Disney, right?:hammer: It was approx $70 for me and my husband to go. It was worth every penny to us.

PM me if you want to know more!

We went in Oct. 2005, just the adults that trip no kiddies. 6 adults and we all had a great time, we had no problem trick or treating like all the kids, after all aren't we all kids in Disney.:lookaroun
We didn't dress up!

I think the Halloween party is better than the xmas party. I love throwing on some festive wear and trick or treating. I think the parade with the headless horseman is awesome. I'm going again this year in early September and can't wait.

Mnsshp & Mvmcp

I have been to both the Halloween Party and the Christmas Party.

The Halloween Party was great - an awesome parade, HalloWishes was fantastic, and free candy is a nice touch. There are shorter waits for lines, and for all of September and most of October it is more than warm enough to stay in MK until past midnight. There are special pins, shirts, and photo ops during MNSSHP. It is fun to see all the characters in costume - I have pictures of Eeyore as a mummy and Piglet as a flower! The only downside I found during the Halloween Party was the amount of children and teens barreling through groups in search of free candy.

The Christmas Party was wonderful - it snows on Main Street!! The Christmas Tree is beautiful, and they serve all the hot cocoa and snickerdoodles you want. The characters will wear scarves and hats, and Donald has his own 'tree lot' - also, this is the ONLY time I've ever seen Scrooge McDuck! There are shorter lines for rides, but it is colder. We went in the beginning of December, and it was in the mid 50's after 9pm. I liked it, especially being from New York, it was nice to be bundled up, wandering around with (fake) snow falling around me, sipping hot cocoa. There is also a special parade and fireworks show, and the Holiday Wishes is very nice. There are also special pins and shirts, etc. during this party.

Personally, I like the atmosphere of the Christmas Party better; it felt like not everyone was rushing around for something (ie: candy.). BUT I like the photo ops at the Halloween Party better. I will be attending both this year. If you have the money and the time, I would definitely go once. It's a special time of the year, and it's something not everyone gets to do.

Last year, tickets went onsale to the public on May 1st. Cast members, AP holders and DVC members are usually eligible for a discount on certain nights. There is NO official sale date announced yet.

I went for the first time last year and loved every minute:sohappy:
Thought it was well worth the money, especially with all the candy you can get and the photo ops were great- me and my boyfriend had our pic took with Cinderella's glass carriage.

we went oct 2006. it was nice if you have children to trick or treat with. the headless horseman was amazing. i much prefer mvmcp. christmas party is magicial. you must visit disney in december. what a treat. dont miss the osborne lights and the jingle jungle parade in ak.:xmas:

I wouldn't do it again. We did it last September, on the last night of our trip. While it was pretty crowded, that wasn't too bad (except for Main Street - ugh), it was just that for the additional money, it didn't seem worth it. I would say the best part is the parade, because the Headless Horseman is pretty cool. I guess that it's pretty neat to be able to say you Trick-or Treated in the Magic Kingdom, but again, I if I hadn't done it I wouldn't have missed it. A particular downer was Hallowishes - not that it isn't a great fireworks show, just that I love Wishes so much and the emotional thrill it gives. And we didn't bother to watch the villains shows, because our kids had no interest. I think we would have been better off at EPCOT, but then again you sort of do want to spend your last night at MK. So in that sense, we didn't actually have a choice. As for the kids reactions (which are what really matter) they were underwhelmed.

All that aside, one fun thing we did in connection to this event was (once the tickets had arrived in the mail) show the wee ones the tickets and tell them Mickey had sent them an invitation to his party. They were excited about that.

Well, whatever you decide to do, have a wonderful trip!!!

We were there last year in September and loved every minute. We're waiting for the tickets to go on sale for this year so that we can go again. I expected it to be far more crowded but it really wasn't bad at all.

Can't wait for the party this year!!
