MM+ Why we can't have nice things.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Pirates of the Carribean activity at Adventureland
Sorcerors of the Magic Kingdom
The Pirates walkthrough at Hollywood Studios
Rapidfill Mugs
And don't forget, newly painted busses!

Not gonna lie, I would count the Pirates Adventure at MK. :) But, obviously, that's it from that list.

...and that's where the list ends? LOL - Been to Disney much?
Sorry in advance for the rant. For the record I LOVE Disney and really don't care all that much for Universal but will be there to check out HP2.

For those that have been going to WDW since the 70's, they had been constantly raising the bar and setting the expectation level very high - up until the late 90's.

I remember seeing Big Thunder being constructed in 1980.
I took the monorail to view the EPCOT Center Preview in 1982 - look at all of those mega E-Tickets! What a park this turned out to be - you need 2 days just to see it all! (until the late 90's anyway)
I remember watching Splash Mountain being constructed - wow - another super, mega E-Ticket and still probably the best flume ride ever constructed.
How about that Tower of Terror!
New Tomorrowland sure looks GREAT. Love this new Alien Encounter attraction. It's like a breath of fresh air into an aging Mission to Mars. An E-Ticket 'show'
Wow - another new park! Wait.. where are all of the attractions??? Meet and greets? What is this? People are lining up to meet characters ? I didn't get it.. still don't.
Wow - can't wait to see what new E-Ticket is going to replace 20,000 Leagues... still waiting

Cutback after cutback - Skyway - keel boats - canoes - 20k Leagues - Adventureland Veranda - swan boats - wonders of life - world showplace -innoventions - nature trails at ft. wilderness - discovery island - river country - Christmas decorations (red and green lights on the contemporary) - lights of winter - Country Bears Christmas.
Dumbing down of dining / dining plan / adr insanity.

The new additions of interactive games / meet and greats / dumbed down or underwhelming replacements of attractions like Imagination / Laugh Floor / Stitch / Mission Space / Test Track / Soran' / Mermaid / Pooh.

This is the reason so many of us are sitting here in disbelief that this conversation is even happening. I just want the Disney that I grew up with back. I want high caliber attractions , not games / rfid bracelets / meet and greets. That stuff would be great if it was being done along side of attractions that live up to the Disney legacy and not being done instead of them.

Magic Kingdom needs additional attractions. At least one or two Mega E-Tickets (think Pirates / Mansion) and 3 - 4 smaller attractions.
MGM needs 4 - 5 E-Tickets and about a dozen smaller attractions. Also probably needs a makeover similar to DCA.
AK - Ditto
Epcot Center needs to open up its closed areas along with at least 2 or 3 things that are not eating establishments in World Showcase. Future World needs serious help as well.

And we get.... magic bands with a 1.5 Billion dollar price tag at the same time as Disney posting record profits.

Rant over - Merry Christmas

I actually like the interactive games they have added and am glad they exist. They certainly don't replace the need for more attractions (especially rides) but they don't deserve to be condemned in and of themselves. They are fun additions that enhance the experience of exploring the parks.

(As an side, does anyone think that we'll see a Star Wars themed interactive game come to DHS in the near future? It's the only park without one. Or, I guess, they could do one that is based on Pixar stuff.)

Plus, the interactive games keep the C list Imagineers employed and uncovering their abandoned remnants will make for some fine blogging material in 2033.

I played all the adventures with my daughter in October and it is my favorite interactive thing they've done. I love it.
I'll be honest, when I was there in October, I didn't notice anyone playing either the Pirates game or the Sorcerers game... Ok, maybe one person playing the Sorcerer's game... The window on Main Street kind of stuck out even though I wasn't looking for it... While I personally don't care much about these games being added, they aren't an eye sore nor are they annoying... I'm sure there were people engaged in playing, but since they seem to be well themed, they are not loud or obnoxious to where the theme and atmosphere are ruined...

The Sorcerer's game has more technical issues, some of the screens seem to be damaged, and sun glare can affect game play. However, it is pretty cool and my son loves the cards, which are free unless you enter the SoTMK eBay market. WDW has had nice small scale upgrades. It is the big things they need to pay attention too.

I think Walt Disney World would have been fine with just small scale upgrades if there have not been so many small scale downgrades.

Good point. There have been some of those too. I'm the jerk who bumped the LoW thread, for god's sake. The interactive games are cool, but I would probably not notice them if I was not a parental unit.

I'm still open to your input regarding new attractions.

It would take me too long....there have been lots of things....maybe not e tickets like you want but many additions and changes within the past year or so

I'm not going to waste time on it because you already know (being on a Disney forum) you're just too anti-everything-Disney to open your eyes and see it :)

Agree, the small things have been fine... They fail on the larger scale items...

No really. Please do list them. Say the past year and the past five years. And also add what's been left to stagnate.

And I propose everyone leaves Universal out of the discussion from now on. How about we just compare WDW to WDW?

But it is Christmas Day. Let's wait until tomorrow huh?
