Mission: SPACE Question

How you handle the ride is probably in part determined by how you go go into it mentally. If you think "This is gonna be bad...I'm gonna be sick", you probably will be. If you think "This will be fun and something new and different", then you'll experience it differently.
Buuuuut if it just doesn't agree with you either way, then you puke and you're mad and we're back at square one

Trust me, when I decide to go on it, I'll be listening to Yoga music and thinking about smiles and happy thoughts a month before I go on it!!!

I have read a lot of horror stories about this, and the first time I rode recently I figured I would ride the Green first. The wife was with me and she is very sensitive to these types of things but she really enjoyed it, so did I, so we did Orange immediately after.

No sickness whatsoever. Obviously it will vary greatly from person to person, but we both really liked Orange too. You don't really get the sense that you are spinning, all you do is feel the tilt of the car and the pressure pushing you back into your seat.

Its like taking off in an airplane.

It will vary from person to person but that is our take. Ride Green first, if you like, then ride Orange.

When I first rode it, I didn't even notice the spinning (we did ride orange). I kept wondering how they were able to cause the forces they did...because I justs didn't feel like we were spinning. Now of course I can feel we are spinning because I know we are. As for me, I can look all around and not get sick. As long as you have eaten something earlier in the day and are not currently hungry you shouldn't get sick.

Haha oh my favorite activity!

Yes, I understand the plane feeling. Thanks for the encouragement...I will definitely eventually go on it.
When you do... most likely you will look back on it like i did my SM fear as a kid. I kicked myself for not going on it for many trips because i was scared.... now, look at my avatar and is probably my favorite attraction behind SSE of course.

:animwink: good luck

Thanks! Ahh I can see it now... my next trip report: "I went on M:S and puked. Then I went back on!" Ewwie

I say give it a shot! I do fine with RnR, ToT, etc, but I DO NOT do well in Star Tours and on the tea cups. Something about that repetitive motions and shaking side to side gets me-- I am okay on Mission Space as long as I dont look to the side. Anyway, as mentioned on here, the worst that can happen is :hurl:....

Give it a try. I dont do well on the spinning rides like teacups, but M:S wasnt an issue. Just make sure to keep your head back and your eyes on the screen and you will be fine. Your basically trying to trick your body into thinking its not spinning more or less

I'd say give Orange a try. I usually do not do well on spinning attractions, but I LOVE M:S.

Ditto to the above!

M:S is a carnival spin-ride at it's core. If you are uncomfortable with something as mellow as Tilt-a-Whirl, I'm thinking that M:S will be a bit too much for you. The g-forces can be quite strong on this ride. I have never been ill on a ride, so I can not state with any degree of authority how any given experience will affect anyone. Your own description of what you can tolerate prompts me to tell you that you should approach this ride with a degree of caution and a suitable barf bag ( Disney provides them, but they look a little small).

I disagree, if you do what you are suppose to, you will be fine during the ride. It is when you turn your head that you get sick.

BTW, I can't ride Dumbo without :hurl:, M:S isn't a problem b/c I listen to what Disney tells you to do.

Mission: SPACE makes me sick too....It killed Horizons. [/Fanboy who knows better]:lookaroun

I`ll say I can`t do the Tea Cups either, but can do M:S Orange - twice a day is the maxiumum though. Just remember, do not turn your head at all, and don`t shut your eyes no matter what.

I love M:S Orange! My son and I once went 3 times in a row (no wait)! My wife hates the T-Cups but can do M:S. It takes her about 15 minutes to bounce back but she loves the ride.

One person in our party who has not had an issue with any other ride, ever, didn't get sick exactly. That would have been preferable. It messed with his equalibrium for a good part of the day. Miserable.

Reaction depends greatly on the person. However, most of the people I've heard coming out of Orange (both young and old) have said "That was it?!" meaning that it wasn't that bad at all. I rode Green first and then tried orange, and to be honest not much is lost in the translation. The way I guage what side I ride is how long the lines are. Seriously, as long as you don't mind a little gravity, then orange is just fine. If the line is shorter for green (it rarely is, but you never know), then go for it, just to get a feeling. If you like it, then try orange.

If you're really sensitive, you can feel the spinning, but it's not that severe. You feel the G-force, not the spinning. The G-force you feel is less on Mission Space than on Rock N Roller Coaster or Expedition Everest.

Been on MS a few times in a row. As people have said just look forward and pay attention to the screens. even play with the buttons but dont look left and right. I have been looking left and right at points of the ride and felt fine after each go.

I would say that this is one of the best g force rides iv been on as the take off is soooo good as you feel your cheeks sliding back across your face. even a few coins might empty from your pockets.

If you do start to feel a bit sick on the ride just remember that this is the only ride that you will find sick bags on. (I believe)

Never had a problem on MS but have felt ill on star tours and other rides where you can see the world spinning.

Closing your eyes and looking around WILL make this ride WORSE!

* Stay focused, don't push the buttons or play around with anything. The ride will still be the same whether you touch the buttons or not!

* If you do throw up, I don't see it ruining your ENTIRE day. Maybe delay you about 45 mins at the most, but other than that I don't see anything that bad happening to you. The more you freak out about it before and after wards is just psychological.

* Keep your head back! Don't try to be a hard@ss and move all around and try to beat the system. I'm sure some of you will and will feel fine, but a good portion of the people will feel a change in their body.

IMO, if this ride was about another 45 seconds longer I would have been sick as well. I LOVE roller coasters and I enjoy Mission Space, but it is not something I suggest going on with a full stomach of food. Plan it wisely when you go on it. I have ridden hundreds of Roller Coasters and never been sick and somehow this ride is the closest I'd admit I've came.

Best roller coasters I've ridden for those interested: Six Flags Magic Mountain in Cali. You name it, I've been on it!
