mine ride for BIG PEOPLE..

I'm well aware of the struggles of weight loss, and I don't think that all heavy people are sitting on the couch slamming cookies. I never judged anyone. My attitude is realistic, yes, do something about it or move along. I feel its the OP's attitude that is sad not mine. He feels WDW should redesign the cars because of his problem. WDW bends over backwards as it is to accommodate people with special needs AND overweight people. He's the one with the problem, not WDW.

I'm not going to beat the dead horse. I am not commenting on the OP's stance on this. I am commenting on your lack of understanding, and your lack for common dignity. You continue to bury yourself for the sake of making a point. No, WDW does not NEED or HAVE to change a thing. I agree with you. But YES you should have the ability to realize just how insensitive you are coming off to others with your comments. I laid it out for you, put the proverbial "ball on the tee" and you swung and missed.

I got it. I'll leave my comment at that.

I'm interested in seeing some more reports on the rides, and how people fit or did not.

Im sorry you feel that way. Im hardly burying myself or swinging and missing. But if thats your perception of things, thats on you. Lets agree to disagree.

Agreed, to disagree. Sensitive subjects... Like religion and gun control. (or WDW vs UNI)

well Kids, I just got back about an hour ago , 10 days at WDW.. On Sunday, we ran to the mine ride when the park opened.. we were about 30th in line.. my wife in a scooter and me, a big MOOSE.. so an hour and 10 minutes later, they open the ride.. we get right down there.. and my wife gets in and there is no problem.. HOWEVER, I can't close the bar.. I am too big for the split bar to fit over my knees.. So my wife rode alone.. I asked to ride as a single.. and have one leg under one bar and the other.. and it works.. the bars lock, I am in.. BUT.. .the powers that be.. won't let me ride.. they say you can't straddle the bars.. so.. Larger people.. and I was told by some WHITE SHIRT, that, Yes, we know there is a problem.. and NO, you still cant ride..they made it right by me.. I got a few immediate ride passes to any ride.. but that doesn't make up for the fact that right now, BIG GUYS like me, or maybe you, cannot ride this ride.. this and one poor meal were the only downfalls of TEN GLORIOUS DAYS seeing the mouse..

We rode mid June and I was surprised at how tight the seating was for a new ride (and how uncomfortable the actual seat was for me). I'm 5 ft 9in and 138lbs (the pic below is from Dec and I'm the same now as I was when I rode earlier this month so judge for yourself if i'm near the average sized adult disney might think would ride the ride) and I felt snug from side to side and my legs took up my full space. I didn't have a problem with the lap bar but I can't imagine my husband, whose 6ft 3in fitting in there at all. Given that most of us are bigger these days (not a new phenomena) I guess I'm just a little surprised they'd even design one that tight/small in the first place.

I think your hubs would be fine; in previous posts, several others his height and taller said they fit. And some rather tall NBA players rode, too. I think he'd be okay. :)

I'm with Alissa.

I reiterate my position: there is no God-given right to ride a roller coaster.

To think.... There are thousands of people who visit Walt Disney World every year with injuries they sustained in life to prevent them from riding roller coasters.

So quit whining.

I don;t think everyone was whining... Seems like a large group of people are just more upset at the lack of respect for the people posting.

If you can't fit, you can't fit... No reason to complain about it. I choose not to go onto rides that are snug with my grandkids, mostly because my knees won't let me out. But, I am not writing to Disney to complain.

After 11 Pages, only one thought comes to mind: There is no god-given right for you to ride a rollercoaster.

I'm sorry but life's not fair.
Are we back at this again??? It is also not fair that after years of sports activity, at a near professional level, that I developed a disease and suffered an injury that caused me to gain 50 pounds in a matter of months? People have different reasons for obesity and it isn't always due to overeating. I will agree that for most that is probably the case, but you must be careful to paint with such a broad brush. Instead of me, it could be you that suffers the disease that causes your metabolism to stop or you that incurs that horrible spinal injury that reduces your mobility.
My perspective changed rather quickly after those events and touring Disney in a scooter after breaking my foot on the first day of vacation, I saw a side of people (a side that I am glimpsing in your post), that disturbed me. I had a very visible knee to toe cast on my right leg and heard several people say, in hushed tones of course, "Look at the fat guy in the scooter." Probably could have beaten many of them in a foot race two years prior, cast or no cast, but all they could see was my weight.

Point is, up to now, Disney has done a wonderful job in keeping their rides inclusive for almost all sizes of riders. For them to build what is billed as a "Family Coaster", it seems odd that the design would be so restrictive that larger parents could not possible ride with their children.

You know my head injuries over the years have resulted in me unable to ride roller coaster ever again. No matter what the hell I do.

You don't see me here whining about it.

So if you're not able to ride a roller coaster? That's just part of life. Deal with it.

Only maybe one person was really whining about it.
The overall feeling from most people were that the seats were small for adults of any size. That unlike many rides at Disney, you cannot ride comfortably with a bag.
Most people have already commented that they are large and may not fit but it is their own fault not Disney's. Most have said, "if they can't fit, they might be sad about it but oh well and move on."
We all are actually agreeing that if we can't fit then OK, we can't fit.
But yes, some comments have been a bit harsh and insensitive. But I've realized that when people are being offensive, they don't always know that they are coming across offensive. So how about we all move on.

I rode it 20 times during the cast preview (ya know, for science). It's a tight fit for me, tighter than any other Disney ride. I had to squeeze my legs together and was able to ride fine, but it wasn't super plesent. It has very little leg room, which is the main issue.

I rode 7DMT a few times. I know the seats seemed a bit tight for my husband. I wonder how the leg space compares to Barnstormer.

To be clear, I didn't mean to imply I was complaining or thinking disney needed to change what's already been done. I was just stating my surprise given it's a family ride (not, say, a high speed roller coaster only most teens and young adults would ride) and today's overall standards in terms of the increase in people's size over the past few decades. I guess I'd expect it from a ride that was in place from the early years of the parks but would just be curious as to the thought process behind the designers of this particular ride. Overall, I think it's a fun zippy little ride and really enjoyed it.

imo it's roughly equal in terms of leg room, the difference between barnstormer and 7dmt would be the side to side clearance you have. 7dmt just seems more narrow in that respect.

The only reason I moved from lurker to poster is because I really just do not like fat shaming... No one has a given right to ride anything... that is for sure I agree with Dave and Allisa... I just do not like the tone that is being used - very insensitive.

Dave I hope your concussion symptoms have eased, I know that it's horrible. My son has had 4 concussions in his life, and he is constantly feeling "sick".
