mine ride for BIG PEOPLE..

EvilQueen-T thanks. I couldn't remember. Although it seems like I hit my head on Barnstormer every time I do ride that because I end up in one of the covered seats. I only rode 7DMT twice on this trip and my rear end is by no means tiny. I don't remember side to side discomfort as much as knee clearance issues. But I made it. I just wondered if people knew they could get into Barnstormer that might give them a starting point.

Hello everyone,
I'm reading through the comments seeing everyones height and size, I'm visiting in September all the way from the UK, I plan on riding the mine cart but I want to know if there are actual restrictions in the sense that I know Disney wouldn't post what size limit is for an adult to ride like 6'3. And can anyone recommend what is classed aprox as too big in the sense of legs not fitting into the bar, like if there is a measurement which anyone may have taken when their legs are together and they fit into the cart?
Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the party!

Not sure anyone has taken an accurate measurement from what it sounds like it does not really have to do with overall weight or height, it's about your body shape... But if you read I'd say it looks like 95% or more of the people are indeed riding. (I've done a bit of searching on other sites and I think that the problem is a lot less worrisome than we think.)

Thank you ever so much for the warm welcome! I'm Disney obsessed I dont see what i havent joined this before.
But thank you for the info, Ive looked everywhere for information of the ride seats. can they be put into comparison of any other ride seats? Im guessing they are not as comfy as the expedition everest ride at animal kingdom. Is the carts the same width as say splash mountain or big thunder mountain?

I agree with this. The funny/odd thing is, while some folk who were or might have been worried about fitting say they fit fine, while others who had zero concerns of fitting say it's crazy snug. I saw one post from a small, SMALL lady (IIRC she said she was 5'4“, 115 lbs or something around there) who said she barely fit, then one right after it from a larger guy, 6'3", 275+ and said he fit great. So we're all VERY confused!

It seems to be all about personal preference and maybe perception. And also, like many have said, perhaps Disney erred on the side of allowing more kids to ride this ride than adults; and I can't fault them for that!

I am about 510, and due to a lot of soccer and genetics I have thunder thighs like serious huge thunder thighs and i fit just fine in this ride, a little snug but just fine.

I'm a big girl and carry my weight in my thighs/hips/stomach Unless I can check ahead of time if I'm going to fit I'm not even going to bother wasting a FP on this.

I am postulating that it will have to do with hip width and length of legs from hips to knees. Not so much an issue with stomach girth. Like I stated before I am completely cramped in the coaster at Hershey Park. My two larger friends (before they gained weight) also had issues because they are tall, on average of 6'2". Others with taller torso's and shorter legs have no problem. I fit into the Flight of the Hippogriff coaster at Universal, but it can only be me in the seat, it is a kiddie coaster.

I am in agreement that a test seat should be placed before the entrance. Most amusement parks have these a th entrances to coasters. I will also accept that this is primarily a kiddie coaster, aimed at children. We see this from the design both architecturally, and from an engineering standpoint, as well as the speed set for travel.

I had a friend call this morning, he is a very portly fella (330lbs and about 6ft), he rode with no issues. The CM told him not to pull the lap bar all the way down, it only needs to lock once, it does not need to go all the way down to your waist.

Hi everyone! I'll be heading back to the world again in a couple of days. I have a fastpass for 7DMT, so I'll take a tape measure and take a picture of the bars with my legs to show actual measurements. There is a tropical depression forming around here, however, so the ride might shut down while I'm there. I think I have another fastpass for Sunday though... Unless the ride is broken *knocks on wood*

We rode mid June and I was surprised at how tight the seating was for a new ride (and how uncomfortable the actual seat was for me). I'm 5 ft 9in and 138lbs (the pic below is from Dec and I'm the same now as I was when I rode earlier this month so judge for yourself if i'm near the average sized adult disney might think would ride the ride) and I felt snug from side to side and my legs took up my full space. I didn't have a problem with the lap bar but I can't imagine my husband, whose 6ft 3in fitting in there at all. Given that most of us are bigger these days (not a new phenomena) I guess I'm just a little surprised they'd even design one that tight/small in the first place.

I'm sorry, but this ride is not made to accomodate average sized people. Please recognize that this is your problem, not Disney's.

People are scared of not fitting... if you can fit in an airplane seat you are going to be more then good.

But airplane seats don't require passengers to put a bar down over their legs. Of the complaints I've read, leg width space between the bars is moreso the issue than leg length space.

I haven't seen any thing addressing the space directly. Rode it twice. My legs, knees firmly pressed together are about 14 inches in width where the bar hits, which is about two inches north of your knee. And I fit, but I'm at the very tip top of what would fit on the ride.

If your legs above your knees and below your thighs are greater than 14 inches you may not fit and gentlemen anything over 12 will probably hurt your boys, if you don't reposition.

I rode this for the first time tonight, and I was nervous based on reading these reports. I am a large guy (3XB/46w), and I had absolutely no trouble with the restraints. However, I think leg length will greatly impact the comfort level. My legs are short--appx. 28" inseam--and I certainly think that helped with the fit. Being large and tall might have made this an extraordinarily tight fit. Also, if you carry weight around your knees or lower thighs, this would likely be problematic as that is the key area that the restraint must fit over, but it would likely not pose a problem to those who carry weight in the chest/gut/upper thigh.
