Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2019

Looks like they did a very nice job with the fireworks and additions to the parade (I wanted Ursula roaming but I will GLADLY take the Spectral Bride ... AMAZING). I'd still like some more upgrades to Boo To You but it's a nice start.

The Jack puppet is fantastic. I'd like a bit more substance to the fireworks but the projections were great. It sounds a bit like a mixed bag for guests.

I think the ride "overlays" are still lame. Very meh. Give us some really decked out treat trails/"not so scary" zones.

But very very good start. All that along with the fantastic Hocus Pocus show is back to being a worthy ticket purchase. However, looks like crowds are simply another day at the Kingdom. Not quite that bad but please don't go in expecting low crowds anymore. It is NOT that. After Hours is for that now apparently. I feel like there's more merchandise (all the Haunted Mansion buckets/sippers as well as Pumpkin Mickey and Ooogie Boogie's head) and food/drink than usual too but I could be wrong in that.

The improvements are noticable and I hope they continue to invest (but I feel like I know better in that regard), specifically in more upgrades to Boo To You.

I'm new here so I'm not sure if there's a way to search within a thread but I have an ADR question I'm hoping someone can answer. I have a 5pm ADR on a MNSSHP night. if the party has started by the time I finish my meal would it be possible to see it? I have no interest in participating in the party, or freeloading, I'd just liket to take a stroll through on my way out.

If you don’t have a party band you will be politely directed to the park exit by CMs.

Has anyone had any experience waiting to meet Moana? Someone suggested to me to start lining up for her at 5:30 ... which seems a bit early but figured I'd check!

We went to the second party of the year. Lined up at 6 and were done at 7:20. Line was shorter at 5:30 but my kids really wanted to get on a ride and I didn’t want to argue with them.

Thank you so much! That's reassuring to me :) 7:20 isn't bad at all!

For me, when there were characters I wanted to see I "wasted" regular park hours rather than party hours in line and got in line as soon as I had my wristband at 4. That way is more physical time waiting, but less PARTY time waiting. I'd keep all my trick or treating time free. But I'm speaking as someone with a large supply of books and no children, so it may be different for others. Good luck!!! The good news is Moana is indoors so even if it's raining and awful she'll still be there =)

I went to last night's party and had an absolutely blast. It has been two years since my last party and I forgot how downright fun they are! The "twists" on the attractions were well done, didn't go into Monster's Inc because there isn't anything they can add that makes it bearable, particularly Space Mountain in the dark; should be the normal way that coaster is done. Boo to You is still the best parade ever in a Disney park and the new additions, while a little odd, didn't seem as shoehorned as I thought. And no surprise here, the Hocus Pocus show continues to also be the best stage show at Walt Disney World. I'm not sure where they find the absolutely "wicked" talent for this show every season but it would be great if it trickled down to the other shows.

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with Not-So-Spooky Spectacular. It still feels like an inferior show compared to Happily Ever After, which just proves my point they won't ever be able to top that show. Some of the projection mapping was neat but I did not like how they have music from Mary Poppins or a Princess segment thrown into a Halloween show. People ignorantly claim HEA is rushed together, sloppy, and not paced well I advise them to steer clear of NSS because every criticism the haters wrongly give HEA comes alive with this show. It is also way too short, clocking in at around 12 minutes. That being said I very much enjoyed the Jack Skellington puppet, I'd like to see more of that from Disney. I also appreciated how they spread the 180 fireworks throughout the show and didn't save them all for the finale. That gave it a nice touch, though the finale of this show pales in comparison to HalloWishes. Overall I give this show a C+. I do want to see it a few more times before throwing the gavel on this opinion. But my expectations for Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks is a way lower now.

All that being said, I still highly recommend the parties. They're a great way to see the Magic Kingdom in a new light instead of the same old mundane nighttime package seen normally. If they continue to add these small enhancements every year, I may just cave and buy the party pass next season if its offered.
Agree with you on all points. I will say, I appreciated NSS a bit more the second time. I just wish the story wasn’t so clumsy. The visuals are great, in general.

Other than the Jack puppet, we weren't crazy about the new castle show, either. The music just didn't fit in with a Halloween party. But, I loved the skeleton part.

They used the "Trick or Treat" song from the Donald Duck cartoon of the same name. That was something new and Halloween related.

But there's more they could have used, familiar or not, before thinking of Mary Poppins or Beauty and the Beast.

Hopefully they'll take note of the criticism and change it for next year. Changing some parts of the music shouldn't be that hard.

That's a great review --thank you! Really helps me level my expectations for seeing this new show
