Can we start a countdown clock to D23 to see how long until all the fan boys (myself included) dreams are squashed by the announcement of star wars restrooms?

All levity aside, Soarin is in need of something in August and in January the film was grainy with huge dust specs, I saw Soarin through the dust bowl! Also any new attraction would be helpful at DHS.

Something is brewing for DHS. I know of 3 proposals and variations thereof. Nothing is pinned down yet from what I can find out. But it will be more than a lick of paint.

Soarin.... how longs this been proposed? WDSP was getting it a decade ago.... The only thing that may stop Epcot getting a new DCA version would be differences in projection room standards. Can't see how that would matter though. Of course, they could always upgrade Orlandos to Anaheim's quality.
Are one of the 3 proposals Carsland or something totally different?

Also, who's idea was it to bring Soarin' to Epcot and not HS?
I can't think of anything in DHS that matches Soarin' whereas Land made a perfect place for it. Not once have I thought it didn't belong there. As far as the old film, it's only old to those that have seen it before. With the exception of a few landmark scenes most of it could have been anyplace in the U.S. and last I heard California was part of the U.S. :D

It is going to be interesting to see what disney does with Soarin in Shanghai due to Chinas strict censorship, I assume mostly focusing on China and showing short Glances of the rest of the world, or maybe showing disney parks in other countries.

Has anyone addressed this at all?

I'm pretty interested in how the whole park plays out, China-fied due to their censorship. I wonder if any local accomodations will also be in place? (restrooms, for example...) or will it be an Americanized park like ours?

Amazing isn't it? They can't even keep a lamp dancing. Plus, I thought the rumored Honeydew/Beaker show or the Electric Mayhem (or god forbid, both) LCI shows would have been great! And how you can have a Pixar Place with so many popular franchises and only one ride after all these years, is beyond the pale.

What ever happened to the Muppet Whatnot Workshop that was supposed to be going into DHS 3-4 years ago?

Why do so many seem to want to make Soarin' 3D? I like 3D, but in the end it is just a gimmick, especially at the movie theater, but don't get me started on that. It doesn't really add anything to the story and for this attraction it's just not needed. For me, stunning and clear (bug-free) visuals mixed with a moving soundtrack, are just as impressive as most 3D I've seen, with the exception of Avatar, but that was CG, not real world.

I agree, the film already has a 3-D feel to it due to the wrap around screen... 3-D is totally unnecessary....Digital would help more then anything else....Last weekend we were treated to a 23' tall moth floating across the Golden Gate Bridge...lol

Indeed. Or variation of.

OK, here's my question.... what is the better description of the current situation: There are three different proposals for DHS but TDO is still not certain which to do and are having ongoing discussions/research/whatever to decide. *or* There were three plans on the table for DHS and TDO has picked one and is doing the work on it, but the details haven't been leaked.

I guess my point being, are they still spending time trying to figure out what to do with DHS? I mean, how long does this take? We know they've been strongly considering and planning for a Cars Land equivalent for a year now. I'm sure the Lucasfilm acquisition could have impacted the dynamic, but this sees like the kind of thing that could be decided in the course of weeks or a month or two since the basic options have surely been developed a while ago.

Mickey's Wheel o' Death is the only thing that scares me more than Astro Orbiter

Sorry, I know it's a little off topic- but that wheel in DCA scares the crap out of me. Not even the swinging carts (I can't even imagine), I'm talking about the stationary ones. You don't realize how high that thing goes. It.is.scary. I will never ride that thing again. But, I will give it credit, it does look awesome when it lights up at night.

I wonder what park will play substitute for Shanghai Disneyland in the new Soarin' film. A big part of the reason for flying over Disneyland is because Disney's California Adventure was under constructive when the film was shot. Shanghai Disneyland will likely also be less than show worthy. I'm guessing either the Magic Kingdom or Tokyo Disneyland (if a version is to go to Tokyo DisneySEA) with part of that footage then being at the local attraction. Cinderella Castle is the most similar to the new Storybook Castle. Tokyo Disneyland currently has the largest hub, but coordinating at Walt Disney World may be easier, especially if the Japanese version is not on course for a similar opening).
