Do you have a Kilt??? What clan?
I got my own kilt made for my wedding back in 1999..The full outfit,Bonnie Prince Charlie with brogues, socks, flashes,Sgian Dhu. Cost me around $1500..I'am off the Royal Stewart clan and my tartan is "Boyd " I had a choice of either ancient Boyd or modern Boyd and I went for the modern Boyd as it had more red in it and looks like the Royal Stewart tartan..Robert Boyd ( Spelt Buid ) was related to Robert the Bruce and fought with him in various battles, and was my fathers name and my DS has Robert as his middle name..;)

I don't consider her to be a princess...
I only consider the classics as princesses, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty etc.

But she is actually a princess. It's funny that you mention the classics such as Ariel and Jasmine (who came about 50 years after the true classics) in the same breath as those true classics of Snow White, Cinderella, etc. It's all relative. I used to not consider Ariel, etc. to be "true" Disney princesses back when they first came out. She'll grow on you and in 20 years you'll think back about how you used to not consider Merida a princess.

Not unless you're using "subtle" like many Disney fans, meaning clearly noticeable and obvious.

ha no, I mean subtle like subtle. And I mean the 2D representations. People are making it sound like they shaved 12 inches off her waist and bumped her up a few bra cup sizes- she still looks very much the same in terms of body shape. When they reimagined the marketing images for the princesses a while back with the sparkly dresses like here they all were made to look different. More makeup, smaller waists, sexier hair. It wasn't just Merida who got that treatment and I remember when they did that, people on here getting just as upset about the changes to the other princesses. Right now, Merida is in the spotlight. She still retained the same overall look as her 3D version to me. I understand the upset this has caused, it just didn't have much of an effect on me is all. I think she looks acceptable in terms of Disney Marketing. I don't like that they do it to *any* of the princesses, but I think Merida's treatment was up their with what we've seen of the others.

Is it just me but She looks like Merida to me. So what if her dress if off shoulder so is jasmine and cindy's. Her face is alittle different but still looks like her. I like the new one and I liked the old one. If people got this much time on their hands to be upset about a cartoon drawing they need a hobby.

My DW sister married a Texan born dude whom she met in Los Angeles..( they live there now ) Anyway they got married here in Scotland and there was about 6 of his friends who came across for the wedding and they all hired kilts..On the day of the wedding,I had to go to the house to make sure they had put their kilts on properly..OMG. It was like a scene from a Marx Brothers film..One dude even had his kilt on back to front, another had his kilt up his body that far,it looked like a tartan mini skirt..I spent the entire morning showing them, stage by stage, how to put on the kilt, whilst wiping the tears from my eyes..;)

Personally, I think the "new" look is a great combination of both the dresses she wears in the movie. I don't see the big deal and my wife and daugher love the look. No issues from our household.:)
