Merida is a babe.
Pixar has shown themselves to be quite accommodating to the wishes of their new master.Smart point. But doesn't Pixar have any control over how the movie is represented? I know when it comes to theme parks, this is the case.
The only reason Disney is in using characters is because of preexisting licensing deals. Disney was the preexisting licensing deal that was going to be a thorn in Pixar's side, having the theme park and sequel rights to their films.I do not profess to have any knowledge of the contract dealing with Disny's purchase of Pixar but in my view Pixar is Disney. They can do what ever they want with the characters. Not sure if the same deal exists with Pixar as it does with Marvel and Lucas Film.
I don't consider her to be a princess...
I only consider the classics as princesses, Snow White, Ariel, Jasmine, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty etc.

She's a princess if Disney Marketing says she's a princess.
Urm, no. It's Latin for Mary.Is Merida the americanisation of Meredith?

Uh, no. Maria, as in Ave Maria, is Latin for Mary. Merida comes from the Latin (through Spanish) Emerita or one who has achieved a high place. Pixar has never said why they have a Scot a Spanish/Latin name.Urm, no. It's Latin for Mary.
Saw her new gown during the ceremony today and it looks great! Not off the shoulder. It is a more formal look though.
