Actually, the mask question has been answered. They are mandatory now in Orange and Osceola County. Exceptions while eating, drinking, and if for health reasons it keeps you from breathing. Also not needed in the pool and on the deck of pools at the hotels-except the life guards will wear them the whole time except for when in the pool rescuing someone. If you go off site to bars don't think you can go in. Licenses for operation may be lost if they don't comply. Bars complying and some even giving masks so they can stay open.

How do the bars work that? You need one to get in but then once you buy a drink you can take it off? I would think the biggest issue for bars is the lack of physical distancing. I know where I live bars can open but they have to maintain 6 feet between groups (even seated at the bar itself) and no standing room sections since it’s impossible to keep people 6 feet apart on a dance floor or standing next to the bar. Basically it’s all table or bar seating and all 6 feet apart. Then people can remove their mask once seated, but you need to wear it when walking around to the bathroom or entering/leaving.

"Exceptions while eating and drinking" does not clear things up in a theme park environment where people are eating and drinking almost constantly while walking around at the same time. It's not like a restaurant where you sit down and eat a meal for an hour, then you're done and move on to something else. You're walking around munching on popcorn, sharing a root beer float, and trying to stay hydrated.

Am not sure what the policy will be in the parks , but could be only eating at tables like Sea World supposedly is doing.

They will likely follow the standard laid out at Disney Springs. You are free to take food/drinks to go and walk around with it. When you take a bite of food or a sip of your drink you pull the mask down and then replace it as soon as the bite or sip are done. What you cannot do (at least based on the actual rules) is walk around Holding a drink cup or snack without a mask on and use the excuse that you are eating. How they enforce that who knows. My guess is they try it as written and hope people follow it. If people can’t help themselves and try to circumvent the mask rule with food and drink (we will know when videos and pictures show up online) then they may go to eating in designated areas. Hopefully people are smart and willing to follow the rules. It’s hot in FL in the summer so you need to drink a lot of fluids. In a capacity limited park there should be more than enough places to step to the side and have a drink or snack without walking up and down the middle of Main Street or a crowded path.

Isn't the constant going back to your face over and over again to take your mask off and put it back on the exact opposite of what the "experts" say we should be doing?

Fauci: "When you’re in the middle of an outbreak, wearing a mask might make people feel a little bit better and it might even block a droplet, but it’s not providing the perfect protection that people think that it is. And, often, there are unintended consequences — people keep fiddling with the mask and they keep touching their face."

I think they are trying to be accommodating to guests wants/needs. What they should do is only allow food and drinks in designated areas, basically either sitting at a table or in an area with sections 6 feet apart marked on the ground. Or even safer just don’t open theme parks when masks are still required. Again, trying to be accommodating.

New mandate for masks also addresses 6 foot distancing so not sure how the bars are doing it though. Last night on the news they showed people being turned away if they didn't accept a mask to wear. Employees of bars and restaurants are many of the latest positives with symptoms. Some bars and restaurants have closed to protect employees.

This is true. The recommendation at this time is to wear the masks because, on balance, the CDC and WHO have decided that the benefits of wearing them outweigh the risks. But as I've said before, the WHO document recommending masks lists both potential benefits/advantages and potential harms/disadvantages (no fewer than 11 of the latter). Unfortunately, the conversation has turned from how to best prevent spread of the virus to whether or not people should wear masks. If you point this out, people respond "oh, yeah, you should do that other stuff too."

And can we leave the Fauci quotes from March out of the discussion. If you want to quote him thats fine but either use something recent or let people know it’s 3 months old. It’s been well established that his stance on masks has changed and there’s zero reason to go back and have that same tired debate.

I don't necessarily disagree, but the WHO document lists that same problem as a disadvantage of wearing masks, and the document is only a few weeks old.

Bars are designed to fit the maximum amount of people in the minimum amount of space...as people talk and consume food and liquids at the same time...as they slowly lose control of their faculties...

And shout because the music is intentionally too loud to hear each other...

And nobody ever cleans the bathrooms...

Gee...I can’t quite put my finger on why that environment isn’t working🤔

Funny how scientists change their opinions based on study and data...what’s affectionately known as “reasoning” or “correlation”

...it’s much easier to be a clown in a suit and shout the same things straight from ya butt at all times because fact checking is SOOOO 20th century these days 🙄

Not so fast with that........there are a series of lawsuits being filed to challenge these unilateral, unpreceded orders. We will see if indeed the order is constitutional at the state level.

Just because an official declares something does not necessarily make it public policy. It may stick or it may not.

Public health is not an issue of “constitutionality”...that’s the kind of 3rd world trick reserved for juntas.

Personal choice doesn’t hold precedence over other people health.

Just my opinion 😉
