Marvel coming to WDW?!?!

The only way this makes sense is if more Marvel is coming to the park eventually. Whether it's characters they can use in FL or they buy the rights back, I only believe this makes sense if its the start of something big.

Which we will then see how important $$$$$ is to the suits running the company, because unless Disney can find a way to convince a judge that Comcast has breached the contract, the price paid for Lucasfilms will pail in comparison to what Comcast will ask Disney to pay.

Agree. Pretty sure the "seven degrees of Kevin Bacon" style connection ties every single character with each other.
From the most obscure galactic ones, to the most revered and famous character (like Wolverine with the first version of Rocket Raccoon)
And the first Rocket Racoon with The Beatles.

And since you said Kevin Bacon,

Agreed.
A non-Twilight Zone version of the Tower of Terror isn't just possible- it's been done and done well. Just look at the Tokyo version.

I actually wouldn't mind a version of the Florida ride that dispensed with the show license. It never made sense to me why there was a Television set in the preshow library when the rest of the Sunset Boulevard area, including even the rest of the Tower queue itself, takes place in the early 1940s.

There were definitely televisions in the 1940s.

My context was an historical perspective concerning the creation and construction of Disney-MGM Studios.

However, as to the present, I see no reason why ToT can't be re-themed to GotG.

Man, as a mostly positive poster here, I've agreed with some things you've said in the past, but now it's become quite obvious that you just pick the extreme view for fun. Much like Mr. Ford does on the opposite end of the spectrum.

I mean, has retheming ToT even come up in the imagineering forum? I can't think of anyone in the history of ever that's looked up at that attraction and said it needs to be rethemed.

No, I do understand why it is a great attraction. Disney took a cookie cutter drop tower and plussed the heck out it. DHS ToT is an amazing experience from placement to theming to execution.

My question is why is a TZ (not owned by Disney) theme BETTER than a GotG theme assuming the attention to detail is the same?

Yep, very cookie cutter. They always have moving dark ride scenes and random drop sequences.

Groot was originally one of Marvel's stable of monsters and fought the Hulk in his second appearance and was taken into Shield custody for some time in the 90s.
Drax first appeared in an Iron Man book

He'd find a way to defend replacing the castle with a huge pile of turd from the Main Street horses I assure you.
I asked him that question in an attempt to see where he was coming from on this issue and also to get a better picture of how he views WDW as a whole, but I probably shouldn't have even tried. I'm anxiously awaiting his response, but I bet he's just going to say something like "I believe nothing is sacred and we all need to be accepting of change."

I will never understand how gaurdians are exempt. They have crossed over with the avengers and the x-men. Helck a couple years ago iron man was a member of the team
I'm still not convinced they are...Gamora, rocket raccoon have ties to hulk, silver surfer(which is Fantastic Four). Drax is from silver surfer among other places. The villains couldn't be used. I can't see it holding up in arbitration.

I'm probably going to get flamed out over this one but....

If ToT is such a great attraction why does it matter so much if it is themed to TZ or GotG?
Because theming matters.

It's the difference between this:

And this:

Tower of Terror is WDW's best attraction. From the moment you see it from a distance to the moment you exit through the gift shop, it gets so many things so right. The stroll from the entrance of Disney Hollywood Studios, down Hollywood Boulevard, and then onto Sunset Boulevard is "the Hollywood that never was and always [should] be.' Tower of Terror is the ideal destination to that journey. For a theme park based on Hollywood's Golden Age, Tower of Terror is perfect.

Why oh why does Bob Chapek want to mess with that unless he has no freakin' clue about what is meant by theme park. :banghead:

After your first post I thought maybe you had never actually experienced the ride, but based on this post I assume you have. You are looking at this backwards though. The theme of ToT is not Twilight Zone. The theme is an abandoned 1930s era Hollywood hotel which fits perfectly as the anchor for Sunset Boulevard. The backstory for why the elevator drops is based on the Twilight Zone series, but even that could be tweaked to be just a generic haunted hotel story without Rod Sterling if they really wanted to get away from an IP they don't own (which I don't think they care about). It would require a rework of the pre-show and would ruin the Fith Dimension scene right before the elevator pulls forward (one of the coolest effects on any ride, amazing in its simplicity). How does a GoTG theme fit in 1930s Hollywood? How would a bunch of space aliens be remotely appropriate in 1930s Hollywood? If the answer is that they will retheme it to GoTG so it won't be a 1930s hotel then the entire placement, lobby and queue area are ruined. When you walk down the street it looks like a time period appropriate creepy old hotel, the lobby is old and dust covered adding more detail to the illusion, even the CMs are dressed appropriately. It all adds to the incredible build up to the ride itself. These are a major part of what makes the attraction iconic. Comic book characters have no place in this ride. It's a total fail.

I just created a facebook page in order to inform people of the rumour and why it is actually serious
https://www.facebook.com/Save-Tower-of-Terror-1131346636899160
I also created an instagram account for the same purpose and the name is: save_towerofterror

I think it is important people know what could happen. Almost nobody will support this project, because the Tower of Terror is one of Disney's symbol. If people all starts to complain about this project, this is how we may change their mind. As @WDW1974 said yesterday, it is a 50/50 thing in Florida so we may only have a small chance at this, but we at least need to try and inform people and tell them to email George Kalogridis and Robert Chapek.

Three things will eventually happen. I've said this for years and no one took me seriously. The three things are (1) Marvel, (2) 5th gate, and (3) transit (monorail or other) expansion.

All three eventually will happen.
