Marvel coming to WDW?!?!

That's the thing -- the ideal choice would be to just build a new purpose built GotG ride explicitly for that concept. Especially since WDW could use any additional capacity.

That said, I understand that Disney probably wants to get a GotG ride up and running ASAP for synergy purposes. If ToT at DHS is dead as an option (yeah!) then I think the best options would be replacing Stitch at MK or replacing RnR at DHS. The later, though, shares a major issue that replacing ToT would have -- DHS really can't afford to lose a ride for the time needed to properly change the theme. Not until other stuff opens (e.g TSL) which goes against the idea of "getting GotG in the parks ASAP".
What if it were a coaster in a different park that didn't have (serious) capacity concerns?

Would slapping a new overlay on RnR really take that long? The queue seems the most problematic area.

I interpret "worse" in terms of a thematic fit, not necessarily the quality of any existing ride.

I don't think it's anything to do with Tomorrowland. They're already spending some time and money on CoP and removing Stitch, Buzz or Monsters Inc. would be an improvement. Same goes for almost anything else at DHS.

My guess is Future World. UoE, Wonders of Life and Innoventions give plenty of dead or underutalized space to work with, and few things are more irrelevant to the land's intended purpose than hyping a comic book blockbuster.

Mission: Space would make for a easier overlay, but the ride's somewhat popular as is and doesn't really need the same kind of attendence boost as other Epcot attractions.

Again, its hard for me to imagine what could be worse as any of the aforementioned by everyone would be a slight improvement; including Space Mountain

I thought one said it was for a roller coaster with less issues on capacity. So if it is that, my guess is it has to be RnRC, but that isn't "worse" than the ToT idea, so that leaves Space Mountain, BTMR or Barnstormer. I think....I seriously doubt they do the mine train.

Well, everything depends on the execution. Reading the tea leaves, I'm guessing we are talking about GotG going into Epcot FW. From a guest experience standpoint, it probably wouldn't be bad. From a theme standpoint, FW is only slightly better for GotG than Sunset Blvd.

Thematically, I'd be totally okay with a GotG coaster going into MK's TL, especially if it replaces a subpar experience or poor fit (i.e. Stitch or Laugh Floor). Even if it were to replace or take over Space Mountain, I think that would be short-sighted but defensible.

I would agree that you could probably convert RNR to a (sensible) GotG theme much more easily/quicker than with ToT. As I've said before, if you are convinced to get GotG in ASAP, then replacing RNR isn't a terrible idea, especially if it leaves to breaking that area off from Sunset and establishing a theme more fitting for GotG (heroes or action/adventure or such).

I unfortunately have heard otherwise. I won't get into specifics, but I would caution against dismissing those possibilities.
The only one of those three where GotG could even remotely work would be Mansion, and I would expect a stronger response from our two experts on this subject if that were the case. It certainly would be a greater travesty than ToT.

Keep in mind how futuristic Xandar looks... I'm not saying that it is a good fit, I'm just saying what I have heard.

The impression I'm getting is Space Mountain? Possibly a temporary overlay a la Hyperspace Mountain in line with Guardians Vol. 2?

Possible, but would probably involve significant improvements to Space Mtn. That would be good to some extent because MK's ride needs to be properly refurbished but I think many would be upset if there were a permanent change and we were to lose "classic" Space. For a temporary overlay of GotG in Space Mtn? I think it would be actually positively received if done well.

That said, I would view putting GotG in Space Mountain as a much better choice than replacing ToT. I suspect most people would as well. Much better "fit".

However, my gut is telling me that the hints about GotG finding a "worse" place than ToT is pointing to some sort of placement in Epcot.

Mission Space is fine with me, I've written off FW East

Splash Mountain? that's one we haven't considered...though seriously doubt that would fit either...but hearing what Disney is trying to do, I wouldn't put it past them
