Marvel coming to WDW?!?!

Thing is, Tokyo DisneySea's option doesn't require plastering IP over the attraction- they made an eery attraction with the same thrills as ToT with an original story- sans Twilight Zone. I prefer the Twilight Zone theme, and I think it works well, but if Disney was concerned about licenses, they should know they can make a good original idea. That is probably what annoys me the most- GotG just seems so lazy.
I almost think Hotel Hightower works better as a Twilight Zone episode then the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The karmic twist of a corrupt colonialist collector becoming a plaything of one of his ill-gotten acquisitions is very Twilight Zone.

Great news about Tower. I fear that whatever will be "worse" will be something in Tomorrowland.......?
If it weren't for that new color scheme put on earlier this month, I'd guess Carousel of Progress, but then again...

I have a few guesses that would be worse that TOT in terms of Guardians of Galaxy. Here are my guesses:
1.) Tomorrowland where COP and SGE are and Disney decides to scrap COP. This rumor hasn't been mentioned, but I thought this is the area where the Tron Coaster was supposed to go. I mentioned the scrapping of COP because I remembered that it supposedly would cost a lot to move to Future World.

2.) Space Mountain getting a Guardian of the Galaxy overlay. This is one of my guesses due to the fact Disney did give the Hong Kong Disneyland and Disneyland versions of Space Mountain an overlay for Star Wars. I'm guessing since MK can't get Hyper Space Mountain due to DHS being the home of Star Wars attractions for DHS, Disney might think of make it up by doing an overlay of Guardians of the Galaxy.

3) Universe of Energy. There was a rumor about UOE getting replace that actually away that I read on a thread on this forum. The rumor involved an IP replacing the attraction. This would be terrible be worse than TOT due to them getting away from the type of energy this planet uses. It don't think this far off of Disney doing this to UOE because it can carry a lot guests, but not a lot of guests go to it like it did about 10 to 20 years ago.

4.) Mission: Space. While this hasn't been rumored this is something I can see Disney looking at doing. Mission: Space has to be due for an update soon and I could see them trying to retheme it to Guardians of the Galaxy by having you land on a planet in the Guardians of the Galaxy World. The only thing is I don't see this getting a backlash as mush as replacing COP, Space Mountain or UOE despite what the Future World purists may think.

The fact we as fans even have to say this is sad. Disney management used to KNOW they could take on a great original idea instead of having to purchase rights to use one. How the times have changed!
Disney isn't shoving GotG into the tower because they can't make an great original attraction without an IP. They just don't understand why they should. GotG already sells more merchandise than TZ or any other non-IP ride in any Disney Park. Yeah, they could create a 100 million dollar non-IP ride and sell 25 attraction Ts and key rings a day. OR, they could do a remotely passable overlay with GotG and sell 3000 Potted Dancing Baby Groot toys for $89 a pop.

This is why Disney is desperately trying to turn their existing "classic attractions" like PotC, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and even Dreamfinder and Figment into "IPs".

None of the first three will be touched.

I wasn't talking about changing the rides. I was referring to using the original source material from the non-IP rides and making movies and other content like comic books. IE: Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. Effectively transforming non-IP rides into IP rides. AKA strip mining your catalog.

And honestly, they should keep at it. I think that's the only way we can save park original content. I would much rather have them "strip-mine" the parks for movie ideas over needlessly remaking the animated classics. Hell, the Imagineers are so obsessed with making all the non-IP rides interconnect these days, make an entire cinematic universe. Between the Disney Kingdoms comics being developed with a "Disney Earth" in mind and the ever expanding reach of SEA, it's what the Imagineers want, but you know, with a larger amount of stupid pun names for characters.

Please lets not put marvel into epcot. Imho i'd rather it go into rnrc in DHS than anywhere in epcot. Epcot needs a proper renovation not random ip's shoehorned into it, keep the ip's in DHS. Of course they could just build a brand new attraction but that would require effort...

I don't know. Just not those three. I've heard of two coasters considered. But I don't know where their heads are now--certainly not a purpose-built new E-ticket for DHS, which would be the appropriate choice.

That's the thing -- the ideal choice would be to just build a new purpose built GotG ride explicitly for that concept. Especially since WDW could use any additional capacity.

That said, I understand that Disney probably wants to get a GotG ride up and running ASAP for synergy purposes. If ToT at DHS is dead as an option (yeah!) then I think the best options would be replacing Stitch at MK or replacing RnR at DHS. The later, though, shares a major issue that replacing ToT would have -- DHS really can't afford to lose a ride for the time needed to properly change the theme. Not until other stuff opens (e.g TSL) which goes against the idea of "getting GotG in the parks ASAP".
