Marching Band

I WAS, back in HS. Did it for two years before I got disgusted and disillusioned with the whole Band before academics mindset. Was very hard work, very stressful, very demanding, but in the end, it was fun. I met mostly great people, and though I do have the negative aspect of it, the positives are there, too. I learned a lot, preformed in awesome places, and the most important....got to March down Main Street for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade.:D

Why do you ask?

I too was part of the marching band. Did a two year stint in HS but had to stop because I had other activities I was involved in and couldn't devote ALL of my time. I stayed with the "regular" band and did a year in college.

Our high school has no marching band; hell, we didn't even have a band until I and a few friends started it in freshman year! We were a grand total of 6 people, and since then I've graduated and the band is about 70 members strong. :D

I was in marching band throughout high school. It was probably one of my least favourite musical experiences, but I stuck with it because I knew I wanted to go into music education. Now I teach music at an elementary school in Annapolis, MD. ^__^ My boyfriend is currently finishing up his music education degree and is stuck doing marching band at the collegiate level. Hahah, poor guy.

^ :) Glad to see everyone here participated.

In response to EE's comment, it is a very demanding thing. I have at least 20 hours a week worth of marching, playing, and going to various football games. This saturday, I have practice from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. (marching in the hot, Florida sun) It's all worthwhile though.

Anyway, here's some vids of my band from last for those interested. :)

I was back in HS. Mellophone section leader, principal French Hornist in Wind Ensemble and I was the Hornist for the schools brass quintet.

I also played in college some. I was in the Wind Ensemble and played in a brass quintet for the first few years of college before I gave it up. My major classes started getting in the way. :o
